That would work but my wife has some "religious tendancies" so it would not go over well with her. lol.. These guys actually opened up the front door and entered the laundry room to knock on the interior door... I will just say I bet they are glad I've mellowed out some in recent years...

There isn't enough blaming the victim in this world. It should be the mission of all schools whether elementary or high school to make sure that weaker or frightened or even just the sweet passionate kids get their comeuppances. After all, how else can we train the bullies to run for governor of New Jersey? Without other children to stand on how could bullies ever get ahead?

Fuck every adult who looked at this and said nothing . . .

It's easy to see why those rules came about....just look at it from the school's perspective. That entire set of rules was created to legally protect the school administrators and make it easier on those who work there. It had nothing to do with helping those who are bullied or eliminating the bullying. Imagine how much less work there would be for the school if those rules were followed.

Number 5 and 6 bothered me quite a bit because there was no mention of the first thing the bullied child has a right to do 'PROTECT HIS or HERSELF' in a physical confrontation by a bully. It's been my experience that the quickest way to stop a bully is not to take it. At least they did say don't get angry but they must have forgot the rest of the sentence.... 'Get Even'. :brow:

FU to the bible thumpers that knocked on my door last night at 8:56pm. I live in the mountains on a dead end road to get away from that shit. I need a good dog. /rant

When they knock on my door I say the same thing every time, 'I don't participate in my own religion and I like mine. Why the hell would I waste time on yours!? SLAM!

Having been a bullying victim this response is nothing new. There just seems to be a very large group of adults that thinks enabling bullying is ok. This flier, recently handed out to elementary school kids, reflects this problem with society. I assume things are this way because bullying actually works, or worked, very well as a behavior for many of these folks and it gets carried forward into adulthood where it becomes part of the system.

Fuck every adult who looked at this and said nothing . . .

Yeah, cuz What the Total FUCK is up with that!! Shit... that's some of the worst possible "advice" I've ever seen!

Fuck stupid "educators"...

It's not terribly surprising that I was, also, a bullied child (just try being a little different, and ALWAYS the new kid)... and hiding behind the playground monitor was my only real option at times.

Whoever wrote that has NO FUCKING CLUE what bullying is, or how it affects the bullied. The bullies are also not being taught how to correctly relate to people.

It was written by an "educator" at an elementary school. It passed muster with every single adult that looked at it and was distributed to students. Parents got so upset when they saw it that the school had to take down their FB page because of the backlash, however, representatives of the school seemed puzzled by the reaction.
Sounds like that School District needs to get another Superintendent or that school needs a new principal. If the community was pissed enough that principal could get fired. I know the school district in the area where I live take bullying very seriously. The handout booklet that they give families look nothing like that. That looks like something from the 50s or 60s. That handout looked very irresponsable.

A big Fuck You to bullies! If they are a bully as a child they will grow up to be bullies as adults. Probably half the police force were bullies as children. A lot of domestic violence in households with partners that are police officers.

The way the bullies are encouraged is teaching them the american way of relating to the rest of the world. These are our future leaders, as they will go on to be in greek fraternities and secret societies before becoming the masters of our shared universe. In other words rest of the planet, sorry (not) but...

Fuck that and fuck anyone who wants to knock on my door uninvited. In the past I sent a few Mormons packing by opening the front door completely naked. Seems more civilized than cursing them out :D

We just recently moved the Jehovah's across the street coming over every other day. I just said I'm busy but when I have some free time when I see your car there I'll stop by and we can chat. She didn't seem to like that idea . so I asked why would that bother u me stopping by in the middle of your dinner or movie etc.
Funny no more visits just nice curtious wave that's how it should be. But next time I'm doing the naked thing, sounds like more fun.

I have never talked about this on FC before but it seems like now is the time. The thing that made my bullying case extreme was that I was at boarding school, stuck in a dormitory 24/7 with children mainly from Saudi Arabia and Columbia, although there was one Nigerian prince. The Saudi kids were oil brats and the Columbian kids were drug cartel. They naturally did what they saw their parents doing and formed gangs in the dorm. My first roommate was the son of the Turkish ambassador to Cuba. I wondered why he stuttered until I met his father. He had a wicked backhand and used it liberally. They also picked on my next roommate a lot, a fat little Jewish boy, who is now a slum lord in NY.

I also had a problem with the day students that was started by the dorm crowd. One particularly evil tormentor of mine was the captain of the football team. He and his goon squad would lay in wait for me after school to beat me up. The coach would never do anything about it and told me not to be a sore loser and a tattletale.

Anyways, my point is, I complained to the adults and they ALL did nothing. Absolutely nothing. My parents didn't really want to hear about it either. I finally had to run away. I still suffer from PTSD from this ordeal which lasted 3 years.

I really hate hearing stories like that especially about people I like.
The sad part is 100,000's of stories that never get told because of being embarrassed and countless other reasons.
That end up in suicide and mass depression something has to change in this world!!!!!

That's sounds like a nightmare @t-dub. That's horrible that the adults didn't step in, especially your parents. I'm so sorry. Being bullied is serious stuff, the reason why many people commit suicide.

How about all the stupid stuff thats going on with some of the fraternities.

As a non American I do not understand fraternities in any way. Fuck that. So glad that was not part of my tertiary education.

As an American, I do not get it either?? below is Will Farrell's take on that racist frat in the news last week. I agree.

Will Farrell said:
"The incident in Oklahoma, that is a real argument for getting rid of the system altogether, in my opinion, even having been through a fraternity. Because when you break it down, it really is about creating cliques and clubs and being exclusionary. Fraternities were started as academic societies that were supposed to have a philanthropic arm to them. And when it’s governed by those kind of rules, then they’re still beneficial.”.

I've always been a proud member of SAE and I'm deeply troubled by the actions of a few of my (ex)brothers.

SAE helped me get to know other people from different races and religions. The SAE chapter I was a member of had a black president (who later would by one of the groomsmen at my wedding), and we were a very diverse group where whites were the minority. And I was coming from 18 years of living in the whitest of white suburbia and had not ever really been exposed to black people, or Hispanic, or Asian, or homosexuals. So the total immersion I got by joining SAE helped shape me into the tolerant person that I am today (at least I hope I am).

We sang a lot of songs. None of which I would ever repeat in mixed company...truly raunchy stuff. A lot of them to the same tune of that racist song that is being played ad-nauseum on the news these recent days. But racist songs? Never in a million years would that fly in our diverse house. It chilled me to the bone when I heard that fucking song from OU the first time and still angers me whenever the story comes on TV.

I owe a lot to SAE and I'm thankful for the lifelong friends that I have because of it. I will not, however give them any more donations (yeah, they're always calling) until they clean house and implement a serious diversity program and root out all the racist fucks.

Fuck racist fucks!

You DO know how to turn a phrase...

Not being a joiner, I was never interested in the greeks when I was in school, but I can and did understand their value for many students, especially for those away from home the first time. It can really help at that age to have a ready made group of folks to associate with and it lowers the burden of having a "social life" while giving your studies adequate attention. A "properly" run fraternity or sorority can be very helpful for students in the matriculation process.

However, it is very easy for a poorly run frat to have the opposite effect by being very exclusionary and rigid and "clickish", with lots of internal and cross frat competition and contests of "prowess" in it's many forms (I can drink ANYONE under the table, screw more girls, etc.). There HAS to be good leadership in the greek organizations or they can do more harm than good. Binge drinking, sexual assaults, and ganglike behavior are all things that can be well managed in frats that try to do the right thing. It all depends on how they are run making sure that there is an external authority watching and helping.

18-20 year old boys are not particularly known for making well considered decisions without a watchful eye...

Not being a joiner, I was never interested in the greeks when I was in school.....

When I was in high school, we had clubs which were kinda like frats......Hazing, hell nights, sergeant of arms wielding a wooden paddle, weekly meetings, club jackets and club pendents so that everyone knew what club you were in, parties with the girls clubs, organized street races, etc, etc. Club brothers. I had soooooo much fun during those days. Each club kinda had their own personality. There was a few clubs that were the jocks.........varsity football and such. Other clubs were more of the "nerd" type clubs, then there were the "juvi" clubs were everyone dressed like the Fonz and got into a lot of fights.........and then, there was the bad boy partying club who's primarily known for, well partying and that was mine......."The Knights". What's kinda interesting about that is that one of my club brothers at the time was Frank Bank, the guy that played Lumpy on Leave it to Beaver. Hah...!!!!

But yeah, clubs were exclusionary but..............there was such a variety, that if anyone wanted to join one, there was always one where they could find a home.

For me, I wouldn't have traded that camaraderie and those fun times for anything.

Edit: One very important thing I gotta add. As much of a bad-boy partying reputation that we had, we also made sure that once a month or once every other month at the least, we would donate our time to helping out in either homeless shelters, old-age homes, etc etc and any other charity that needed our help. Most of that charitable work was provided to us by the parents of our club members. To say the least, we were a dichotomy.

We not only had the backs of our club members, but the back of their parents as well. My club brothers saved my ass on more than one occasion.

One of those times, I got a bit too drunk at a party. They wouldn't let me drive home so one of them drove my car (about 1:00AM) while the others followed in another car. When they got to my house, they parked my car in the drive way and walked me up to the front door. They then gently leaned me to one side of the door (a bit too drunk to stand on my own), rang the doorbell and quickly and quietly left before anyone answered.

"Hi Dad !" :uhh:

I, of course with my history, avoided the greek system. I had enough hazing long before I reached college and couldn't tolerate any more. One of the places I used to hide from my tormentors in HS was the darkroom. There I learned how to develop black & white film and make enlargements using my Pentax K1000, the ultimate starter camera back in the day. My sister is also an artist specializing in Cibachrome, prints from positive, portraits using oil and water to make abstract art. This understanding of photography lead to me getting a job in college at a photo studio. Yes, I got into the greek parties by being the party photographer. Every frat house was the same. Filthy, filthy, filthy, with a disgusting basement SOAKED in beer and more filth. It was sooooo gross. To see how these kids lived told me a lot about the "culture" inside these institutions. That and seeing them drunk of course. I was threatened (not taking enough or the "right" pics), beat up, and robbed twice (delivering pizza for Pizza Hut) on several occasions at frat houses.

The other place I liked to hide was the computer lab. Thats why I had a rudimentary understanding of BASIC, FORTRAN, COBOL, and machine language (hexadecimal to compiler) before leaving HS. I both loved and hated the TRS (Trash) 80 but that is another post . . .
