Guys my esv stopped heating....out of nowhere

THe red light works like normal but on all 3 temp settingd it is not heating

Does the battery meter function return a full battery?

If so, I'd next look to one of the coil screws working loose.

If coil (or its screw) is loose you'll get red light flashing instead of normal.

Low charge is usually the cause for no heat at all, but light working normal

A few guys have messed them up tinkering (some fatally) but I don't recall anyone 'burning out' in protracted life?

Well, I certainly wouldn't call it protracted life, but I have had two coils fail me without any tinkering or fiddling whatsoever. Perhaps not all coils were created equally.

I don't mess with my coil when it comes back from Joe - unless I have to.

Funny how things turn out. I thought the user replaceable heater would make life easier when I bought unit. Seems like that's the thing giving the most issue's with others. Seems that Joe does replace them for user if requested, so really just cost of shipping back if your concerned with dealing with it yourself.

Honestly as a stealth vaporizer I find it hard to beat. Can get instant hits and even control amount of vapor expelled. Great when I need the quick topper hit to keep pain in bay. I had a funeral to attend last week and there was no way I could use the crafty. With elevape was able to run into restroom top off. That kept the pain bearable.

The esv is really well made, especially well machined. I think as an old-school combustor I may take too big of a draw for the way the esv algorithm works. I'm a modern-day medical user now, but because of my background sips don't really seem to medicate me. From my experience and what I gather in this thread, the esv works best with smaller draws. It's about the same size bowl as the firefly, and I finish that one off in a hit or two. The esv doesn't seem to want to be used that way; after I fine-tuned mine I never combusted until I was trying to finish a bowl/hit, it was always at the end of the draw even if I ramped it up.

I love everything about the vape other than the stirring. If the lid was like the pax or something easier, I wouldn't mind too much.
My lid is now very easy to turn...can do it with one hand while inhaling. (Such talent.Lubricating the red o ring somehow would duplicate this...it really makes stirring so much easier...you hold the escape at a slight angle....

Keep at it folks. This is a great vape. Once you get it, and it comes eSier and easier, you have it!

What kind of self discharge rates are people getting with the Elevape? In other words, if you fully charge it and let it sit without using it, how much battery are you losing every day?

So you want I let my ESV some days without using it....sorry but I can't!

Although, to be serious, I noticed a bit of autonomy difference when I use it straight after charging and when I use it after to let it sit for 10 or+ hours...I think there is some self discharge rate.

I seem to have the same results with battery..my battery life is very inconsistent. Sometimes I will go to use after having it charged and only using a draw here or there and it seems as normal but no vapor or heating and sure enough..charge is below 40 or so percent..imho this thing needs to stay on charger alot more than other vapes I have or have had. I think it performs very well but is one of the most frustrating devices of any kind I have ever owned. I knew that going in tho so I cant complain.

I talked about it earlier, but mine goes quite a while. Ive left it several weeks and it still had a decent charge, but of course recharged before using it more. Generally I do like to top it off before using anyway, it likes to sit around 70% otherwise sometimes, maybe 80 if its only been a couple days. Either way its usually still enough for a day out at that level. My battery had been very good and reliable overall, long lasting too. I have one of the first 50 produced

Does anyone know if the battery will get damaged if not used for an extended period of time? i.e. if not used for a month will a full charge not last as long? Thanks.

I wanted to write a real review for the elevape smart vaporizer as well as my experience with their customer service.

I'm trying something new by breaking it down into 5 categories, Design..Vapor Quality..Ease of Use(user friendliness).. Portability..Applicability..scroll all the way down for TLDR.

Design
This vaporizer is aesthically pleasing experience from sight to touch, based on my research the elevape is built of aluminum with a mill finish. The size of the unit is 2.7” X 1.25”X1.9” or 70 mm X 32mm X 49 mm. The weight is about 6 ounces which is as much as a hockey puck. The elevape smart vaporizer is composed of several sections, one being the battery/CPU, another being the coil and sensor the next being the oven/herb chamber last being the mouthpiece and vapor path. On the top of the esv there is the draw indicator light which glows steady while you draw and flashes when it resets if you draw too long. On the side you have the temp selection switch and the Battery health indicator light which is solid yellow when it charges then solid green when charged and flashing yellow if there is a firmware issue.
Overall this vaporizer feels good in your hand weight and texture wise and can take some abuse, overall the design is solid.

Ease of Use
From my experience every vaporizer has its own ritual before and after usage, cleaning..putting together..grinding herbs..heating..etc.
This is where I believe the ESV truly shines, all you have to do is
Twist the lid off
Load your vaporizable herb of choice
Place the lid back
Flip then Hit.
Out of the box the vaporizer already has 3 programmed temps which is very helpful, once you download the app you can customize your own experience. There are two applications, one is the ipuff temp control and the other is the advanced control for downloading new firmware as well as flashing your vaporizer. Its pretty awesome this level of technology is embedded inside this vape.

Portability
With or without it's carrying case it fits easy in jean pockets and coat/jacket pockets or even in George Costanza's wallet haha. Out of my collection its on the same level of portablility as my mflb/indica and supreme vaporizer.

Vapor Quality
I can only taste the vapor of my herbs and nothing else which is fantastic!
Being able to adjust temps from 305f to 450f is amazing because you can enjoy the full spectrum or isolate based on your needs or type of experience you want. Some users may want blue vapor rich with THC where others may need the medicinal effects of cbds and cbns in the 400+ range the heavier and thicker vapor. I will say how you prep and manipulate your device will effect your experience. When I first tried it I combusted..cleaned it and read a couple pages of this thread. I I lowered my coil and had very good results and eventually tried the bottle cap screen which is a great creation! Glad we have a strong community where we benefit from eachothers experiences and inventions and questions. I have tried two types of bottle caps once where I placed an extra indica screen over the main cap and curved the screen edges into the slits on the side as well as place the screen into the main cap and push the screen edges out of the slits..the second way is more preferable to me.

Applicability
This unit is great for 1 to 2 people given you have a charged battery and decent quality herbs. A great unit for sampling as you can really get a good taste and profile from whatever your heating up. I wouldn't use this for a group session due to the bowl size and battery life. Would be great to see a unit with a bigger bowl chamber.

Overall this is a great vaporizer, you can tell put a lot of care and time into it. I would say this would be more of a advance vape then a beginner vape.

Customer Service

So my first unit never heated up, I was extremely disappointed and reached out to customer service and troubleshooted with Joe. I had to send my unit back to CA and it was in the mail for about 2 weeks, when it returned someone had opened the package stole the vape..retaped it and blocked the destination address. I was pretty bummed, after all that Joe and his staffed worked hard on getting me another unit allowing me to have the opportunity to experience the esv. I've worked in CS and you deal with a lot of bs and things out of your hands its truly a difficult job. The level of attention and willingness to help from Joe was outstanding. From scheduling calls to troubleshoot to helping me place a insurance claim thru USPS and helping me get another unit..and when my 2nd unit stopped heating he teached me how to download the correct firmware and reboot it.. he truly is a good man. Quality of customer service is important when deciding to buy a vape.

Thanks..TLDR solid vape for 1 to 2 people..large spectrum of temps for customizable experience.

Yeah it stays much cooler, thanks to that big wide metal vapor path. FF can be good if its not sessioned, but still never as cool as ESV for me. And indicas session conduction is always cough inducing, in other vapes as well. Arizer Air/Solo probably made me cough the most out if any

Hi everyone,

In general what kind of battery life are you seeing with this guy? I drop about 25 percent every 5 draws. I draw long enough that the heating element stops.

I sent an email to Ipuffit but never got a response so figured it would be better just to ask here.

Had a little bit of combustion at first but changing my draw style seemed to resolve that and over all I really like the unit. Just wondering if mine has a battery issue or if I should lower my expectations. Its not a deal killer for me just surprised by how quickly it runs out of juice.

Anyways thanks to all in the community that has been posting all their tips :)

WELCOME! Hope you stick around

Mine definitely does better than that, but try seeing how many total puffs you get over one charge, until it stops producing vapor bc of battery.

Also make sure you email Joe directly, usually very responsive. Lot of other great tips earlier in this thread

Thanks for the warm welcome SS. I read most of this thread before ordering :) I will do a full draw test and see how long the battery lasts and then contact Joe if follows my 25 percent for 5 draws.

I moved the heating element slightly and played around with some temp settings but mainly found just changing the way I draw solved most of the issues. With the heating element shutting off after 7 seconds I had to change that anyways :)

I do a lot of lurking on the forums, I feel a little guilty because so many of the members have disabilities and are trying to manage pain. I'm just a recreational user and enjoy the science behind all of it.

Anyways thanks again to the awesome community.

@ZenMonkey Your battery problems seem similar to what was happening to me. After about 10-15 draws I was around 40% battery life and only able to get 1 or more draws that produced vapor at that point. Joe was easy to reach by phone and he helped me troubleshoot it in 5-10 minutes. A possible cause for this, according to Joe, is that it uses 6 cells, and the cells usually balance after 5-6 full charges. Sometimes, as was the case for mine, some of the cells aren't properly balanced. I had to send my unit in, unfortunately, but it was shipped back to me 2 business days after they received it and was in my hands not long after that. Best of luck to you!

Also, I'm a recreational user and know what you mean haha.
