My only real problem with your original post is that you stated your opinion as a fact; I'm a big fan of qualifiers.

Haha fair enough! The qualifiers can slip by me every now and then, not easy to always remember. I dont think most could take a statement like that to be fact though? Seems blatantly obvious to me it is an opinion, but am I giving others too much credit?...

Agreed temp control on the esv is completely relative, so much of this is user dependent and not as basic as firefly (my new one only combusted once, but only a little bit and only bc I really stuffed it tight for reason that time), but i like have these options and customizability, one of the reasons why i like android over ios too...

But a big matter of opinion is also what is impressive as well, is it some users getting incredible yet variable results? Or hundreds more users getting consistently great results? We need more elevapes in the world for one thing to know more... Different people are impressed by different things, and when the experiences are different on top of that, well its impossible not to read it all as opinion to me personally

Anyway, I think once my Elevape got set the way it is now (and previously when I first got it, with the original smaller coil) i settled into a system for using it that works really well for me. It is literally pick up and puff for me, most anywhere i can carry it. Firefly takes a bit more time to bit and get where I want to be, it also took a little learning too, for me and some friends actually, but its also very rewarding... (Maybe I can get mine replaced again someday and get back to my preferred original style?)

That's the thing with these on demand manual vapes I think in general, they take a lot of learning, and some just aren't going to work at all for some people. Most seem well worth it though, with pure convection we all win!

Classic you! lol

Thank God...what, you thought it was the robust discussion of vaping minutiae that's kept some of us around here for years and years?
If you crave sheer simplicity, the esv may not be best of course, hence why my firefly gets more group use

Back on topic and in all seriousness, this is the thing that has kept me away from the ESV, even when it was half-price, and even when someone (ahem) was urging me to buy one. It just seems way too complicated for me...not complex, but complicated...like too many things that can break or go wrong, or that I can cause to break or go wrong. I find it both fascinating and frightening, from a distance. I need simple things...or I end up in a fetal position.

I'd agree the ESV is more powerful - I have no problem combusting with it...

That's what I'm talking about, right there.:lol::clap:

Always best to play it safe, yes? To seasoned FC veterans, yes, it's obvious you're just speaking your opinion. Don't forget the lurkers and newbies. There are how many goddamn FC members now? Many of them just read. They may see someone like you, with plenty of posts and likes and popularity and see you as someone whose opinion means something - as would plenty of regulars as well, obviously. Those are the people you need to qualify for.

Don't forget, any one of your posts could convince someone to buy an ESV over something else and end up being disappointed - maybe even giving up on vaporizing all together.

I forget that as much as anyone, though. I be calling the kettle black like.... regularly. Particularly when I start caressing my FF ...

We have a certain responsibility, yes? Legitimacy and integrity get shaky, IMO, when opinion is not qualified obviously.

Most everyone who comes here is looking for what's behind all the bullshit. I think making sure everyone knows how much of this is opinion-based is important, and shouldn't be taken lightly. I think, for others, it is quite easy to forget it's all opinion. So why not just make sure to add qualifiers? What's the harm?

Then there's this:

  • Do not state opinion as fact, we don’t want to spread misinformation. Please qualify your statements and provide references when making claims.

Yes, it's silly to put things like IMO, IME, etc all the time. IMO, it is for the "embetterment" of us all. And most important, it makes EDA NOT want to take another shot of whiskey and start posting.

Yeah, I sound like an arrogant little shit, but... when do I not?

I agree with EDA about the fact this vape is definitly not for a beginner and could be a disappointment and I think I would be disappointed too if I payed a full price for it ( but with a 50% deal it's ok for me)!

This is a "in progress" vape....I hope for the better.

I get less combustion issues with the ESV(no issues in fact I only scortched a bit my bowl sometimes) than with my old Flashvape, I think it taste better and hits are smoother (and since taste and smoothness are user dependant I would add imo...).

My main issues are the battery life and the not totally spent abv, even dark there is still goodies in (i tested it with my nano)

I hope Ipuffusa is working to improves thiis vape, but are they trying to do it?

You still have to stir with bottle cap, but sometimes less so. You can't get even cook without stirring, and depending on draw and other things, some people can't at all I suppose

While too vigorously cleaning my ESV, I lost one of the screws that secures the coil. Pardon my ignorance, but is this an item that I can get at the local hardware store, or is the screw particular to the unit? I don't see the screws offered on the elevapesmart website. I texted Joe (who always provides the best customer service), but haven't heard back.

Bummer. It's sure to be a standard machine screw thread (almost certainly SAE or Metric), real hardware stores will have it if you bring the other one in to match.

But I suggest you hold off and let Joe get involved.

I was using my ESV with a friend last night when he combusted at 395. It's the first time it's been combusted in, so it was a little upsetting, but nothing to panic about. I'm soaking it in 91% iso now to hopefully remove the ash-y taste as was suggested a few pages back when someone else accidentally combusted. I think that he was just unaware of how easy it can be to combust sometimes and didn't properly adjust his draw rate for the higher temps. It was also a loose pack and my first time putting kief in with the herb, but after I opened it up, the kief was resting on the stir lid and mostly unvaped so I don't think it really influenced the combustion. My sensor was also pretty clean as it was my 2nd or 3rd use since I got it back from Joe.

I was really mostly concerned about the flavor after the fact than the fact that it can actually reach combustion. I lowered all my settings a little bit so I am now at 335-365-390 (from 345-370-395) just as a preventative measure. I doubt that the 5 degree difference will change the level of extraction on my #3, but will hopefully make it a little bit harder to combust. I still think that it is completely user error though, and that, if desired, one could go to slightly higher temps and adjust their draw rate properly to never combust as I have never combusted in the ESV through multiple bowls that I finished at 395.

Yeah if I do use it with another person, its a low temps only, unless I come to trust them more... Me and my gf had no problems with my original set up though after some initial learning curves

See, I guess I am just a naturally lucky person, as when I ordered mine, it worked. Out of the box.
I take it apart to clean it, I have no problem with combusting, and my coil is fine.

I've recommended it to people based on my own experience. It is unfortunate that during beta/startup, quality isn't always uniform across a product line.

I would buy it again, if I could do over, as it has worked, does work, and no issues, so far. Knock wood.

*Hello? is someone there?*

Had to replace my coil as well, back to inconsistent results...I love it when it works but I simply have lost the desire to fiddle with it every time I want to vape and that is what it has come to. I'll send it in eventually but I've been getting less flower and more shatter as of late so not really a priority. Also my unit is not really portable anymore because every other draw it has to be plugged in to reset itself.

Wow hearing some of theese stories has me scared of daily driving my esv since ive got it its seen about 2.3g of flower. Amazing consistent results evenly browned abv huge battery life, super cpnvinent i find myself pixking it up before any others at home. Do coils go out often?do any of you with horror stories start outperfect then run into issues or bad from the jump? Im falling in love with this thing but i dont want to be heart broken in a week or two

If it's working out of the box, it works.

Don't try any DIY mods, and perhaps, like mine, it will just keep working perfectly...

I agree with enchantre. Mine worked out of the box and my coil is straight, not bent. I combusted, soaked it in ISO for 12 hours, and now letting it dry. Try not to let everyone's problems worry you, because every Elevape is not identical. I absolutely love the low temp flavor hits.

A guy needs a backup, no matter.

I'm with the 'well made, when set up right can run a long time' side. My coil 'needed' bending down to tame combustion, but smooth sailing after that. Coils should give many hours service, and that seems to be the case. A few guys have messed them up tinkering (some fatally) but I don't recall anyone 'burning out' in protracted life? If I've missed it, hopefully someone will correct the record......... Once installed and running well they seem quite reliable.

But you should consider a backup vape, and one that's fun enough to use in it's own right. VGs, Vapman (a personal favorite) and Solo/Air come to mind. The first two under $100, the second a bit more. All have loyal followings, with excellent records of service and owner satisfaction. Not only is an alternative fun sometimes, in the event of problems it's the difference between inconvenience and serious problems.

I currently own elevape sv, hammer , indica, firefly mflb and dbv ive got plenty of backup just since ive got my temps dialed in on the esv i literally have no desire to touch the others latley. My ff was the daily before this. But this beats all my vapes in convinence, flavor(insane flavor) its not a bud hog. I dont need to charge often

IVe been wanting to put kief in this but ive been scared anyone try this yet?

@420democrat, I'm sorta kinda with you on (most of) this. I have a Herbalizer and a Firefly, and I've found myself using only the ESV around the house lately. I don't think the convenience and efficiency can be beat. Flavor isn't quite as good as the FF, and unlike some I think the Herbalizer is just as good or better than the ESV, but I'm satisfied. I do wish it had better battery life, so I could take it out of the house, but I have oil cartridges for that. For home use, battery life is satisfactory. Of course, that's just MY take on all this.

I tried Kief in it for the first time last night, sandwiching it between herb. Tasted great, and had no problems. Slept great.

I can't wait for the big breakthrough on battery technology, not just as it relates to the ESV, but for all uses!

I love everything about the vape other than the stirring. If the lid was like the pax or something easier, I wouldn't mind too much. If there is some bullet system like the haze or inh, it would be great to pop one in without ppl noticing. And be able to shake it so don't need to stir like mflb. It sounds like I am just pointing out the strong qualities of other portable vapes.

there is no better feeling than a freshly packed esv, using setting 1 just to taste the flavor profiles of your medicine. but the ESV needs an easier chamber lid. There are too many times where I would lose some medicine to stir. Or a better stirring lid. But Joe, you and your team created one of the best portables out there.
