The Herbalizer

Thank you everyone!!

I highly recommend @Ratchett's nu-song. I will take some pics or video on my next day off. It is a great silicone piece that allows most vapes an easy connection to water tools.

@Ed's TnT can also hook you up with a wong for the Haze vaporizer, which inserts perfectly into the stock whip tubing for herbie. I think it gives it a touch of class over the stock stem.

Both options work really well and help support our local innovators.

It makes it a wide open air flow and is an alternative to the other herbie moupieces. This is the mouthpiece For the ssv.

I use mine with my FC-187 v2 all the time. I remove the mouthpiece from Herbie's whip and stick an arizer elbow adapter in it, which fits into the bubbler's 18mm joint.

I recently (2 days ago) have a similar setup except I don't use an elbow adapter but rather use a straight (not angled) adapter. As I said in the cheap high quality bubbler thread this piece stacks like crazy and functions great.

Using my rounded Haze screen on the bottom and a standard herbie screen on top after soaking screens and aroma pads in undiluted moonshine for a few days and burning off the remaining alcohol. Also trimmed a piece of SSV tubing to approximately the same length as the herbie whip and have swapped to that, without a mouthpiece (after others have reported finding the mouthpiece restrictive.

I'm cooking along at 350 right now, so far so good. After I work my way up the temps with this bowl I will load another one directly at 433 and hit the fan assist to see if I'm able to draw dense clouds. All part of my trials to whitewalling my D020 and discover which method I like best.

I will also try with a few other methods (two haze screens sandwiched, two herbie screens sandwiched, aroma pads) and try to keep track of my results.

So far though I'm really enjoying this setup directly from the whip...

It is sure hard to fault a statement like that. I've been using a "pinch" sized miniature measuring spoon to fill my material. One scoop yields roughly .06 grams of material that has been passed through a small (I believe) 4 piece space case grinder. However, once I'm no longer on call for the ER tonight I will fill it to the flare and give it hell with the fan assist and my bubbler and see if I can white out the bubbler.

I'm wondering if I should grind my herb a little finer. My only alternative to the space case is a coffee grinder I purchased just to use with herb. My experience is that finer grinds tend to clog the screens faster.

I have not yet decided if I will top with an aromapad. I believe some users have reported thicker vapor from using the aromapads, but I probably have not done enough side-by-side comparisons to verify. Hard not to just enjoy the moment sometimes and keep myself grounded in being analytically minded.

On a side note, I think I will purchase a few extra aroma pads and a 24-pack of screens from Herbalizer. The screens run about 13 bucks and two aroma pads cost 7. I'd like to be able to source the aroma pads in bulk but have not been able to find anything similar. I'd really like to purchase a new magnetic bowl just for using other non-cannabis herbs but I can't justify spending another 70 bucks in order to do so.

I'm wondering if there is a way to use the main herbie fan without applying the heat from the halogen bulb? The main fan is much more powerful and I believe would do a much better job of circulating essential oils placed on the aroma pads. The Herbalizer's minimum temperature is higher than what is recommended for lavender oil from what I've seen online and I have lately enjoyed putting lavender and vetiver essential oils on a wick pad (uncertain if the oils would clean easily off an aroma pad and I sometimes like to put the aroma pads on top of my cannabis) at bedtime, I would just like to fill the room with the scent quicker. Total first-world problem.

Last thing to note...I really enjoyed using my SSV tubing last night but I am finding something that kind of annoys me when using it. With the SSV tubing mounted directly onto the Herbie magnetic bowl the lid occasionally will loosen. On the herbie tubing the coupler between the whip and the bowl does a pretty good job of preventing this. I used to think that it was because the coupler would kind of swivel a bit. However, my coupler has some accumulated oils on it that keeps it fairly firm in place and yet I still don't have issues with my bowl coming unfastened.

I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this and discovered a solution? If others are experiencing a similar issue and there is enough generated interest we could get @Ratchett on the case to a possible solution? The first idea that comes to mind would be to design a coupler that still fits the magnetic bowl but will couple with the larger diameter whip tubing that some prefer. If there were enough people interested to make it worth Ratchett's time to develop I would be willing to bite the bullet and purchase a second bowl (since I'm interested in acquiring a new one anyways) as well as a coupler so he could make measurements and scale up the size.

I am sorry for the long post, hoping some kind folks stuck it out till the bitter end!

I've been using an 18/14mm GonG reducer over my Herbie bowl. Then I put an 18mm female whip adapter on it which swivels nicely and avoids the issue of the bowl opening.

Very creative solution! Does your reducer fit snugly at all on top of your Herbie bowl? I find that none of mine will on their own, however I trimmed a small piece of SSV tubing into a band about as thick as an o-ring and that makes the connection much better.

Would you mind sharing where you got your female whip adapter? I've spendta few minutes searching but what I've found thus far is unlike the one in your video, I'd like to make sure I get the correct accessory.

Thanks for your reply!

You know, @MinnBobber uses the SonG I made for the MiniVAP to hold the whip in place. I wonder if you could slide the whip in place, and then slide my SonG over the whole thing to hold the whip in place?

Another sound idea. I'm loving my first order of yours (I'm using my Delta 3D Studios 18mm-14 reducer right now as a mouthpiece on top of the SSV tubing as we speak so I can also hit the bubbler at my convenience!) and am really looking hard at your Ascent and Haze organizers as it is, that may make a good addition to my future order. Does @MinnBobber have a pic of the setup here on the forum?

I got called into work tonight at the ER and took care of an elderly woman with Alzheimers who fractured and dislocated her humeral head (The bone in your bicep, right up by your shoulder if anyone cares for a reference). The physician and I were surprised that although the accident had occurred almost 8 hours prior (she was transferred to us from a Military hospital that is consistently pretty worthless from a medical standpoint) the on-call orthopedist wanted us to try and reduce (pop the bone back in place). However, there really wasn't a whole lot of other options for us at this point, so we set the patient up for sedation

Now, this wasn't an easy procedure because there was a HUGE amount of swelling to the upper arm and shoulder. This is my other gripe with the Military hospital for such an unnecessary and potentially complicating delay as this woman was elderly an on plavix, which thins out your blood, and when your bones break they bleed. This is not something to sit on in longbone fractures (especially the humerous and femur) when patients are on blood thinners because there is so much vasculature in those long bones and it greatly increases the risk for surgery which should be avoided when able with the elderly. And of course, all that swelling reduces the odds of success without invasive surgery. They let the woman sit over 3 hours before they had even x-rayed it because they didn't want to move the patient in that much pain.

For an elderly woman she was surprisingly difficult to get sedated. Once she was gorked properly though her respiratory rate dropped and her oxygen saturation dipped below acceptable levels so I had to give her a jaw thrust and have someone breath into her with a bag valve mask. While we were bagging her I noticed that the mask utilizes a neat sort of system that freely swivels so that you can bag the patient from any position and always have the cylinder you squeeze in a comfortable position while the mask stays firmly over the patient. It appears that the swivel is airtight to maintain a high flow oxygen but still allows absolute freedom of movement. I will take a picture of one a little later today if I get the chance...as that would have been a cool whip coupler setup for the stock herbie to have in my opinion.

To close off the story we were able to get the shoulder properly reduced. I wasn't thrilled when I was called in to work (especially to find that they weren't that busy and I really did not need to get called in), but the woman was real sweet and a little altered as she would drift between being surprised that she had a male Nurse and then referring to her granddaughter as someone else. And of course, 3 hours of time and a half don't hurt either in the long run.

Thanks for the link and the info!

I have loaded up herbie with the SSV tubing utilizing a stock bottom screen instead of the haze screen I have been using as of late.

I think I prefer the Haze screen, it seems like I get more vapor, perhaps from the screen sitting closer to the halogen bulb.

One thing that I think Herbalizer should have done is make a 3-piece bowl where 2 identical bowls screw together, but each has threading on the distal side to screw on a whip connector cover. This way you could flip the bowl over halfway through the session, turning your top screen to the bottom and vice-verse. This would basically allow you to effectively clear your screens without having to pop them out and swap them manually, warping them with repitition. As we know the top screens tend to clog after a time and some users will brush it off several puffs into their session, and the bottom screen tends to clear.

As I see it this allows you to keep your screens de-gummed at will and also eliminates the task of having to brush off the bowls. You're effectively stirring the bowls every time you flip them.

Instead of having the whip connector thread into place it could just get held into place by some strong magnets...that would be a cool way to have it all set up.

Shit I'd love to see someone make that happen.

@Ratchett have you ever messed with printing of magnets and metals?

No smells on mine

No, there is no odor that I detect @VaporWizard checked last night at first use then again just now.

I am very troubled by your responses. So you guys literally can't detect any odor whatsoever from your units? My unit definitely has an odor when the bulb is on. The worst part is I actually sent it back to the company under warranty, complaining about the smell, and after performing a "fully comprehensive checkout" they simply deemed my unit as working fine and are sending it back to me.

This just doesn't add up. I have multiple people telling me their Herbalizers are odorless. Meanwhile, my machine, which has a strong odor, was deemed fine by the Herbalizer company. What's going on here? Did they just rip me off? Are they trying to save money by sticking me with a defective unit?

I don't mind the odor itself but I am extremely concerned with my health and absolutely do not want to be inhaling anything other than herb. I love my Herbalizer but given the health risks I just don't know if I can trust this company anymore.

Can anyone else please give me some input? Are your machines literally odorless?

I don't believe Herbalizer wants to rip you off. I do not have any odor coming from my Herbie either.
