Anyone rebuild a 7.4 kiss? I want to rebuild it in a way that the coil heats up just a tad slower, but im not familiar enough to be certain of what im doing.
i've never rebuilt a 7.4; but it sounds like you want more resistance. i'd try building a coil just like the one it already has, but with one more wrap.
this has been helpful for me: http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp
also, the black ceramic wick is almost the exact same size as the rod in a q-tip. i built my coil around that, and then (carefully, tediously) put the wick through it. maybe there's a better way, but that worked pretty well for me.

I use a drill bit with a slightly smaller diameter than my ceramic wick. While it can be a PITA to transfer the coil from the bit to the ceramic (twisting works the best), once on, it stays firmly in place.

no joke: my mailman does separate runs for normal mail and anything he doesn't think will fit -- including small packages, if there are a large number of them to be delivered in your area.

Do you recall off-hand what size drill bit you used? I was thinking something similar, though if any of the techs have a specific size suggestions for ease of reproducibility, please enlighten us plebes ;) I'll open a ticket for my 7.4v KISS in the meantime, thanks guys!

Ha, I am by no means a handy man. The ONLY thing I use that drill bit for is wrapping coils. I'll have to check the size that's missing from the bit kit. = )

I basically took the one that was slightly smaller than the wick when matched end-to-end. However, as you'll soon discover, the big trick is transferring the wrapped coil onto the ceramic...you may want to plan for a few practice attempts.

Sounds like my method for pre-drilling for screws. Hold screw up behind drill bit, squint, cock head, and stick tongue out the corner of mouth to improve accuracy, choose the closest drill bit, minus threads, err on the smaller side.

Soo I did something kind of stupid in my medicated state.

I was using the ss long tube and noticed the 18650 battery sitting a bit lower than what I'd like, causing the persei to lose battery connection if I moved it even the slightest.

So I tried pulling the spring on the ss cap a bit but ended up pulling the spring off the cap. I've been trying for hours but can't get the spring to go back in the cap.

Is there a way to get the spring back in the ss cap after pulling it out?

Yes, the easiest way IMO (which is not easy btw), is to "twist" the bottom spring back into place. Twist in the direction that causes the springs diameter to compress and it will slide into place. Hopefully this makes some sort of sense. Good luck!

That's exactly what I do.
Whoa!
When did this happen? http://www.w9tech.com/airis-viva/

Any owners out there?

It's kind of hidden because my boss told me to keep it under wraps, but now that the cat's out of the bag, if you'll direct your attention to the little orange sliver nestled into the Nibbler XL....

So... how would you compare it to the bender, for lack of a distinctly similar device in the uptech family?

Is there a picture of all the w9 vapes lined up? It's so hard trying to gauge sizes for so many products without being able to see them in person. I'd love to see a picture of a vaporizer, minicron lite, minicron, ophos, omicron lite, omicron, and persei all lined up with no cart on them so I could really compare sizes.

what are the 2 smallest black ones on the right? Is there a omicron lite tucked in there somewhere? i own that one already so i can use it for size comparison.

The Ophos tucked in the middle between the black and silver Persei is the same size as the omicron lite. The other two im not sure what they are but they look like 650 mah egos could be 350's

There's no comparison to the Bender, they are as polar opposite as a Magic-Flight Launch Box and a Volcano (both of which are things I own, like, and enjoy). Bender and Viva both vaporize herb and run off battery power and that's where the similarities end.

The Viva is an all in one unit with a cylindrical herb chamber and uses conduction to heat the chamber. It has a pretty free draw, it's not super restricted like that one really popular herb vape that's polished and anodized, fancy like the iPhone of the herb vape market.... The bender requires crazy specific technique to use and the Viva doesn't require any technique.... You let it heat up enough and you draw on it. Light, medium hard. Certain strength pull certainly works better than others, but when you pass it to a friend with no instructions and watch the vapor cloud they exhale- That's a good sign that it's easy to use to me. It fits in your hand nicely and goes in almost any pocket.

@SamuraiSam the viva is conduction, Bender is a hybrid convection conduction heater.
Did you see what happened there? I tried to make a Viva video after I got off work. I messed up the video pretty bad because the viva was working pretty well. Then I forgot the words conduction and convection, I think I called it a "convention" vaporizer. Gonna have to give myself a round of applause for that one.

Sorry boss!
I'll have to try again on the video.
