My 3 month old Flowermate Vapormax V5.0S stopped functioning, so looking to replace it with something in the $100 range.
I really liked the V5.0S, but as it broke after only 3 months and warranty service does not seem well supported.
I'm looking to buy a brand (portable) other then Flowermate, any ideas?

OK, I'll be first to bite. If you can go up to $160 there's the Solo (on sale at puffitup) or the newer, more portable offering from Arizer - the Air at $169 also from puffitup - a great deal. Certainly, the Solo has the reputation for decent reliability and a solid performer. The butane based Vapman (both the mica and the even cheaper basic model) are in the $100 price range. It's a very different vape from the Flowermate Vapormax. So, is the Solo for that matter.

There are other decent vapes in your price range though it's more helpful to get a sense of what you're wanting and what you liked about the vapormax V...

Welcome to FC @AudioGD sorry to hear about you flowermate.
I highly recommend Daisy by Triihouse. Her little sister Lily is also great. I think another Vape worth mentioning is The Vapman. The best part of the vapes I have mentioned here is reliability. With no electronics there is very little to fail. They are built for a lifetime of use. They do tend to have somewhat of a steeper learning curve (except for Daisy.) Once they are mastered they are very rewarding. All three of these vapes are handcrafted and wonderful performers. Triihouse Vapes are U.S.A. made. And the Vapman is Swiss engineering at its finest. A lot of vaporist are turned off by the simplicity of these, along with using a torch but I find it to be among there best qualitys. The love that goes into these vaporizers can't be reproduced in a factory. Just my :2c:

@AudioGD : sorry for your loss, I didn't answer you in the FM thread but maybe you could try to fix it yourself if you got some DIY skills? It could be just the batteries to replace and I received kinda contradicting info from Smiss about that: it might be possible in the end (previously we thought it wouldn't work)

Anyhow you really should have at least two portables as a safety, I recommend it to all FC members. Never let the chance of being tempted to combust again happen! With two vapes on a rotation you can use one when the other is charging, and in case of failure you have a backup that can keep you floating while you wait for the replacement.

+1 for the Vapman. Great in terms of reliability, and great performance. It's a gem of a vaporizer. In my utopian vison, we would all be issued one, and given a class on how to use it, as part of an initiation into adulthood. Just an idea. I just got one, and I'm glad I did. Also, I'm excited to check out the Grasshopper. That one has a lifetime warranty.

It's not a battery issue, at least it does not seem like a battery issue.
It looks like a piece of metal that lined the top hole might have fallen out, as there is light now coming from the herb chamber, there was no visible light before.

Could you maybe post a picture so I can have a look? If something got displaced it's easy to open the device to put it back in place. Also there is a LED in the bowl behind the silicone, so it's normal to see some light when it's on (but I assume you know that already and talk about something different?)

I just realized I had never had the V5.0S turned on without the mouth piece in place, so the light i saw might be normal, just never saw it before.

But I don't follow, is it broken or not? You didn't post any pic of it.

Opened up my V5.0S, but did not see anything I could fix, after putting it back together, did get it to work after pressing the button in very way possible.
Guess I can't directly upload the pictures I took of the inside of the V5.0S, to this forum.

You haven't responded to anyone's suggestions. Do you have any replacements in mind?

Not really putting any real effort into buying a replacement, have got too much going on this week, Think I'll take at least another week before trying to really decide on a replacement, so for now just going to let others post recommendations.

I think some more details and specifics on what you're looking for would help others give suggestions.

Guess I'm looking for something with the same features as the V5.0S, which I really like, but my current V5.0S is barely functional after only having it for a few months and Flowermate does not seem to provide any warranty service, so I do not want to give Flowermate any more of my business.

Some shops have warranties but if you ordered directly from China...well, that's the price to pay when you want to get wholesale price and you are not a reseller yourself...

I still don't get how it can be "barely functional" and what the problem is and/or if it can be fixed. You can post images on imgur for free and include them with a "img" tag or using the small icon in the toolbar.

Are you sure it's just not clogged because you didn't clean it enough? It's bound to happen with all vapes on the market, not only the FM. In all cases I highly recommend you to get at least two portable vapes.

I guess I can't add more than my first comment then, except I forgot the indica and the haze. Both great companies.

Sounds like a switch problem, but be sure you're pressing both quickly enough and firmly enough. You don't have to be super quick, but a missed press can make a difference, as can one that just doesn't register.

I assume you know the heater times out after 5 min. and holding the button in for 3+ sec. turns the heat back on.

I bought the V5.0S from a US retailer about 400 miles away who will not answer my emails. Nor will Flowermate answer emails.
I'm guessing it's some sort of power issue, whatever regulates the power (something on the PCB board?) is not functioning at it'd best (batteries are fully charged).

Could not find anything I would have liked better then the V5.0S.
Ended up ordering another V5.0S.

My button on my FM is finicky. What worked for me was turning it on and then playing with the button as it changes color when depressed so I could actually tell I was pressing it. I could see that a standard push didn't work but when I press closer to the top of the button it works fine.
