Hi guys.

After reading through this thread and countless hours of research I am definitely ready to take on the mighty combo that is the Persei + Hercules SR-74x.

I was just wondering if I should wait to make a purchase on the Persei, seeing as I read there is an upgrade for the top?

Forgive me if this is a dumb question. Im very excited to make the quantum leap!

You will never be punished for buying a product now instead of waiting. w9tech.com is out of a few colors at the moment, but the ones that remain (V3 units in Red, Purple, and Teal) are on sale at $130 plus a 10% coupon code has been in effect for awhile: W9TECH. IMO that's a great price on a unit normally priced at about $170. Black and Silver units might be available currently from other retailers, too.

If you ever have any issues with a device there is a limited lifetime warranty on the majority of our non consumable items, including the Persei; most items are repaired at no cost within a year, warranty renewal feels beyond that period generally run about half the cost of the unit for an additional year of warranty and repair coverage.

Several users here on FC have had their versions 1-3 (current generation) Persei tops/units replaced with the new touch button tops that have not yet been released to market and incorporate several new features. That upgrade is now included in any warranty renewals on a Persei over a year old and available to any in-warranty customers for a small fee.

Thanks for the quick reply, I really appreciate it !

I'll be back in a few weeks with questions. lol

Hopefully, I won't get scolded for not wanting to go through over a 1000+ pages all over again.

Can't wait to own and try this combination.
:mmmm:

I really wish there were more videos available to show the Hercules in action, up close and personal.

Happy to help! No scolding here. If you have time to check the last chunk of pages whether 10 or 100 over time... It took me over a month to work through the thread last Jan/February. It hadn't eclipsed 1000 pages yet.

Here's a short instagram video showing a single hit. V2 top, AW 18350 batteries, SR74x: https://instagram.com/p/yQGnSVIUK5/

Longer youtube video with a few hits during a session off the Core power supply.
Notice how the vapor isn't as thick in this becuase I have dialed down the power for super tasty low temp goodness. But I can hold the button forever while drawing.

This one shows my technique to do some draws in between hits to keep the oil in the top chamber.

Thanks, everybody for all the input.

I'll use the 7.4v Ti coil on a different device in the future. Is the herc also a no go w/ vv? I had understood vw was inappropriate, but vv would work.

What kind of device are you trying to use the KISS cart on? It sounds like you are trying to use a resistance-referenced, variable wattage device. Those often don't work well with our grade 2 ti and ceramic heating elements, both of which really like fixed voltage. Grade 2 titanium wire has very unique properties and the resistance can be interesting...

@eckstrakt, I have been using up tech gear for over 3 yrs at this point. Started with an Omicron V2, I bought the first one my smoke shop got in. Maybe longer than 3 years? How long ago did the V2 come out? Been rocking the Persei for at least year and a half. I tracked down and bought 3 v1 persei kits just to get double tops, and have had two of those single tops upgraded as they broke, got in on the 8 as the Mechanical top pre order; I don't pass up pre orders at this point. Got my Bender and Core and a bunch of other stuff with a holiday sale last summerishhhh? May have been 4th of July? I forget.

In any case, long before I started helping with customer service. :)

Well, I thank you for your work here. Very informative. I am sold on this product.....now I just wait for the new rollout and then order.

Got my 8 completely broke down. Reassembled everything testing with my DMM as I went. For a minute I got thrown for a loop as I needed to adjust the height of the center pin caps. I tightened these down all the way during reassembly which was causing my Kiss Globe and Aspire not to make contact.

I love the 8. Such a clean device, simple and elegant. My girlfriend hates it because it is silver. Oh well, she can be happy with her Purple Omicron!

Is it possible to order brushed aluminum tube extensions like an SS kit for the 8?

working on black unit to make GF's happy. :-)

SS kits for the 8 are not possible currently.

Maybe in the future but to much on our plate atm.

The 8 comes with the 18350 tube, made of stainless steel just like the rest of the 8. This tube can also be stacked onto the adjustable tube to increase the battery options. Since the 8 doesn't care about what voltage you're working with, it's just completing the circuit, any safe combination of identical batteries can be configured to do whatever you want. I've run 2x AW18500 for increased life on my Persei and 8 with this setup... If you need to go further than this, well; if you have any old Persei SS kits kicking around, they should work. The threading is the same for the Persei and the 8. Lightsaber mode just looks silly with the Okeanos.

This is one reason the 8 is suggested for advanced users and those who have an understanding of basic electronic circuits. If you do the math you can find out how to build a coil to run at 12.6V and the batteries to make that happen will fit inside the 8 with just the components that came in the box. :brow:

The device in question is an ismoka eleaf istick 50w which has modes for both variable wattage (5 to 50w) and variable voltage (2-10v), and I was setting the device to vv mode, then selecting 7.4v before firing. I have seen tear downs of this mod, it is packing 2 batteries, I can't imagine why it is having issues with the 7.4v atty, but shows little to no "titanium-based wackiness" when using/reading the 3.7v KISS carts' resistance. I also find it curious that the 3.7v carts give me relatively consistent results (+/- O.2ohm), but both my ohm meter and device were giving me read outs that were sub-0.1ohm to over 2ohm. Does having double the coils really account for that large of a reading flux?

the Titanium version of the coils should read 2.0 ohms for the 7.4v, could be a defective coil if its jumping around like that.

@elmoe420 its in the works but a bit off since once again to much on plate.

I know the KISS carts have no warranty, but I only got to use it for the first 2 sessions -- it acted funny that first session, so I separated the battery and atomizer for the night and tried again the next day, still with totally wonky results. That's when I tried getting a reading, other than my mod's built-in meter. What options are available to me for this cart? Is it something I would be able to take a pic of for tech support and have them help me with (guide me through, at least), or am I totally up shit creek for having attempted to use my purchased equipment?

Anyone rebuild a 7.4 kiss? I want to rebuild it in a way that the coil heats up just a tad slower, but im not familiar enough to be certain of what im doing.
