Got vaped...joined a dating site.

My face is melting...
yep, I did.

No, I didn't manage to hook up.

I suppose if I had put a little more effort into it and maybe kept the account open for more than three days I would've had more success. But as it was, 72 hours was enough for me.

I did have a 25 year old message me with her digits, I shit you not. But she was way too young and pretty to be interested in me so I assumed she was after my son who happened in my profile picture. I went so far as to ask her if that were the case but she never replied back.

It was enlightening to say the least. To be honest, this type of thing always struck me as kind of desperate, though I do understand the logic behind it. I also felt kind of like a dirty old man. Obviously you're more inclined to judge someone more positively by their looks, so that makes it seem kind of wrong in a way too.

I did manage to score in the 90+% with a few ladies, messaged them a friendly hello and asked if they wanted to do the nasty. No, just kidding. I was a perfect gentleman.

And if you think it's impossible to score 100% incompatibility with someone, think again because I did...and I'm not making this up, but her username was vampirewomen6969. I checked out her profile out and she actually wasn't that hideous ander details were actually fairly normal for someone with such a username. I considered messaging her as well.

And in case you're wondering, there are a few questions pertaining to to one's appreciation of herb.

I knew it was time to quit when I found myself mostly attracted to a girl who reminded me an aweful lot of my ex wife. Again, not making this up. She wasn't smiling in any of her pictures and reacted frigidly to my advances. It was remarkable.....

Next stop: Speed dating!

Loved that movie....

My friend recently joined a dating site and I sort of experienced it through him. If I could give some unsolicited advice: Don't be too negative about yourself in your profile, let them learn your faults through interaction. Keep the messages brief but personal, maybe comment on something related to their profile or a shared interest. Last but not least it's a numbers game, even if you're fully comparable a lot of messages get lost at sea, reply to 15 people and you may only get 1 reply back.

Good to know. I might try it again, it's not like it was a huge deal to start an account. And probably a little bit of my bitterness and bad attitude shone through in my profile, so I'd suggest not vaping for this task.

Other things that I figured out.

Some of the usernames, geeze at least try to sound intelligent by the name you go by. I went with something sexy and mysterious, one of my 8 character numeral and letter combination usernames that was randomly generated for my work computers. There were some real dandies. I judgingly blew right by CatLady0's page just because of her username.

At least look halfway decent for your pic. I checked out the dudes in my area. Not in a gay way, but rather to see what I was up against. My self esteem isn't the the greatest, but I was really glad I did it because I felt far less threatened by most of the competition. Most of them looked like they had taken their profile pictures immediately following a hard day of cooking meth.

As for playing the odds, I thought I was really in with my very first message when my ex's doppleganger replied to my inquiry. It was a very frosty reply (just the way I like it apparently) and she even "liked" me, but then further messaging by me was followed by stoney silence.....she was treating me just like my ex used to. The experience left me feeling desperate and confused, my god she turned me on!

I'm not making any of this up either. Every bit of it is true.

Just my 2 cents ...don't reveal your affection for herb during the introductory phase. You really won't know who or what you're dealing with for quite awhile. Things like this can come back to haunt you if sweets go sour. You don't want SWAT busting down your door.

Deception has always been a very useful tool IME.. Just kidding.

But seriously Snappo is right, and I'm sure basement farmer is smarter than that. But with attitudes toward cannabis relaxing, it still helps to be reminded:

If anybody knows about your hobbies they have tremendous power over you!

friend did the online dating scene for almost a year, got more gap than i think he even cared to brag about and ended up getting serious with one, now engaged and they are quite the match. best of luck to you.

imho only if its a weakness to begin with. when testing the waters with a new person (not necessarily dating) concerning the habits of partaking i usually describe myself with phrases like "open minded" and "able appreciate individual differences" and see where the convo goes from there. peace!

Since FC already has a Classifieds section, maybe it should have a "Personal Ad" section too. Make FC your one-stop shop for all things vaporizers and sex dating. I know I like my women shaped one way - with a big ol' head full of vapor knowledge.

I'll volunteer to moderate, although I shouldn't even have to - I've noticed all our mods have too much time on their hands ... :D

Of course, we'd have to incorporate more women ... and incorporating women is not my strong suit. :\

This is eerily similar to a Showtime pilot I'm writing.

Seriously, I love this idea. And I've been happily married for a quarter-century.

I'm still looking for Mrs. Right ...I just haven't met the one with perfect fur, whiskers, floppy ears, disposition, and tail like my little Daisy.

lollercoasterz. It is true that a 420/710 dating site would in theory serve the community well - but it would be a scammer's paradise!

How many of you guys who use internet dating sites know about the internet dating scams out there?

Here's a familiar one I've heard time and time again - guy gets added by stunningly beautiful woman on dating site, woman's profile says she lives a few suburbs away.

Woman adds you, acting scared and new to this she says she needs to see your facebook account first. If you give her it, then she starts talking dirty, says she wants to go on cam with you.

If you then fall hook line and sinker and go on cam, you are treated to a recorded solo-porn/mastubartion clip being played to look like this is the girl you are on webcam chat with (of course, she won't actually talk or have a mic! Meanwhile the person typing messages demands that you do the same.

The scammer on the other side uses well known skype video capture software to record you and bang - they play the video of the poor sap who got scammed masturbating on camera back to them and threaten to pass on this information to all listed facebook family members if they do not pay some large sum of money. Now imagine they can tell your little old grandma who for some reason has facebook that you use the herb too! Yikes!

Also FC is really somewhat of a boys club lol. I don't think an FC dating section would work great for hetero guys or same-sex attracted girls simply because of this problem lol

Got vaped and forgot that I posted to this thread....

@Snappo, me? no, I'm divorced with adult kids. @Skyscraper and @Detonator the garden plot downstairs wasn't something that I bragged about in my profile, tho I did mention container gardening as one of my hobbies..

Actually the experience was an interesting glimpse into human nature, including my own.

More on this later...gotta get ready for work.

Container gardening.. I'm just incredibly fond of tomatoes, you know?

Believe it brutha....I"m actually recycling my basement soil for some deck grown veggies.

OK,

So back to my dating site experience, I think I have it figured out. It's much like playing poker or any other game that requires strategically playing the odds (thanks for the tip @slick ) and a game face. That's probably the darker side of the scene. If you don't enjoy buying a car, you are probably the type who won't dig dating sites all that much.

Me? Buying a car isn't perhaps my favorite thing to do. It's something I force myself to do out of necessity.

If you're wondering why I say this.... It's expensive not only in money but time as well. In other words, it isn't for the lazy. Plus you have to trust or at least put up with assholes and you can never be 100% sure about what your looking at.

It cut's both ways BTW.

Also, much like car shopping you know what your budget is....so it's likely that many fine, reliable models are overlooked in favor of the more flashier ones. If internet images can be taken seriously, probably 85% of the women in my age group (35-55) where quite attractive by my definition. How come I don't notice this in the real world?

What can I say? That's the primate in us. Very few are attracted to personality or inteligence. A killer smile and great hair matter more in the breeding pit. Unfortunatly for me, I'm attracted to angry & crazy....or worse angry and crazy (so sexy).

My experience was not with out success. But in the process I think I came away with something bigger.

I've been divorced for 3 1/2 years and single for almost exactly a year. My epiphany came to me as the realiziation that my lot in life has improved dramatically in the last 12 months. Why the fuck would I want to undo that? Not saying that I won't get involved with someone someday....I'm just not ready for it yet. I've got a belly full of hurt and anger to purge before I'm completely well enough to go at it again. So while I'm mending emotionally, I'll use that time to get my other shit together.

I ran into one of my closest friends, who happens to be both female and single. Her recent words "The only thing worse than being single is wishing you were" Been there a few times.
