Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

AnxiousMe

A newb in the process of becoming much more
I have had the evo for about 6 months now and thought it was about high time that I stop just reading the thread and actually give some input. First off, I LOVE MY EVO! I can honestly say it has been life altering. I have had a DBV for a couple of years, but it never really scratched that itch that combustion can. Then came along the evo, it seemed simplistic, it kept many of the great aspects of the combustion ritual(hydratubes, all glass etc) and had here on FC we had the greatest honor of having @stonemonkey55 as part of the conversation.
So I bought the standard package with dry tube and was excited but didn't have huge expectations because I was still not totally convinced vapes could medicate as well as combustion. Well holy milky clouds batman, I was totally wrong. Every single time I use it( daily) I still get that warm tingling feeling of pure joy, still amazed at how well it performs and it keeps exceeding my expectations. Sometimes I just give it a quick hug, but don't tell anyone.
About a month and a half ago I put my dry tube on top and heard a terrible gritty crunch. Way down in the bamboo, it had cracked, still not sure how it happened, anyway I had great service from VXL and the only hardship was not having my evo for about 3 weeks. I think that is pretty darn quick considering I am in Canada. I got an email telling g me it was on its way home and all it cost me was shipping it.
And the best part is, it is working way better now than it did before.
I swear the bamboo looks a little bit bigger in diameter than my old one, the draw seems less restrictive and the clouds are enormous. I used to start a session at around 12 and finish off at 2. Well when I got it back from repairs I did just that and almost combusted on my first load. I have had to dial it back to 10 and maybe bump it up to 12 at the end. I love how this little machine can still surprise me.

I do have a two part question about the draw strength. First, I used to love the whistle because it was a good way to judge the speed and strength of my draw. Since getting it back with new bamboo, I can not get it to whistle.
Does anyone now if the newer models, bamboo still whistle? I know some people did not like it and that @stonemonkey55 was going to take that under advisement. Just didn't know if they actually tweeked things to stop the noise.
Also do any other members find that different ELB's can play a role in draw resistance and cloud production? Last night I put a new ELB in and it was a tight fit, which is fine, but I found my inhale was a bit shorter in duration and the clouds were definitely weaker than normal. Don't know if maybe ELB's need a bit of breaking in until they work optimally. Anyways I guess I'll find out one way or another because the next sesh is always just around the corner.
BTW I have never used the evo with water, just got SSFG hydratube in the mail, letting it soak a bit first(came smudged) can't wait to take evo to the next level.
And if you actuall read through this long rambling spiel thank you.

I've had my Evo since last July ,
and never heard a whistle yet .
Not with different Elbs , per se , but with dirty Elbs .
That can impede your draw resistance and cloud production .

Use it with water , then report back .
You'll love it , my guess .
Short post , I'm Vaping ....

I have an Evo from the first Massdrop sale, and I do sometimes hear a whistle, but only if I'm drawing on it very hard (sometimes it has to be close to my maxmimum draw force).

I bought my Evo online in early October. I used a dry tube for the first month and then went off and bought my own piece. Ever since I got it, it whistles every single time. So it's interesting to know some people don't have the whistle, which I wish I had.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your EVO.

Re the whistle - and with the caveat that there have been engineering changes to the EVO since release which may supercede the following info - there is a diameter tolerance range of the center orifice due to precision limitations in the glass manufacturing process. So from one EVO to the next there can be a very slight difference in diameter. As a general rule, the airflow is close to optimum when you are just at the whistle. There are exceptions, some will not whistle at all and others whistle more. And personal technique affects this as well, which is why some users find that only when it whistles loudest is it providing the full airflow that they want.

Re the ELB and draw resistance, I don't recall reports of this. The greater likelihood is differences in load, material, temperature, humidity, technique, or a combination thereof.

Now go knock yourself out. :ko:

EDIT: 15% off sale at VapeXhale site. A couple HT's, quartz nails which were out-of-stock not long ago are now available again.

What would be the go to recommendation for vaping concentrate on the go? I have an evo for at home and love it to death

The best thing about the evo is that it keeps surpassing my expectations. Just when I think a load is done, turn the dial just a bit and bam I am in cloud heaven once again. I love my evo. I find I am so excited to use it, I don't need a portable because I rush home and have my treat!:leaf:

Damn you, party liquor
^^^wait a minute...shouldn't that tree perc HT have the ends welded shut on the perc and only the slits fire? I see all over this forum people bitching about Chinese pieces tree percs being open on the end and this one on massdrop has pictured is plainly open. I can't tell from VXLs website pic of they are closed on it or not. Can anyone that owns a hydratree confirm?

Thanks @t-dub Logically the open bottom would only fire if you pulled hard enough to get it to which is one reason I never understood why anyone cares if it was closed. My old AC is an 11 arm tree with two slits and open ends and it fires and hits just fine. Probably just personal preference.

Looking to buy my first Cloud EVo.
I have seen some labeled as limited edition "Fanatic" and wondered how these differ from the standard model?
Thanks for your help.

The Limited Edition (LE) or "Fanatic" model of EVO is made from a liquid crystal polymer (LCP) called Vectra. This pic shows the color/texture difference in the case. They also came with a lifetime warranty and spot on the Beta Test Crew.

Do you know how much the cost new and when they were released?

@t-dub was speaking in the past tense. The Fanatics kicked for $1K when VapeXhale crowd-sourced the beta development of the EVO. (There were various levels/offerings in the campaign.) The beta-team Fanatics also received an incredible Fantatic HT with a ~30 slitted cuts circ perc plus a turbine perc, ordained with 3 opals. That was a one-time event.

EDIT: @t-dub and I often play tag on this thread. :) Once again, he beat me to the punch, and with a better post at that. Grrr!

Do you know the source country of the opals?
The "opals" are glass with some kinda glass chunks in them, they are not real opals like stones, its just a name they use. I believe Swagger made therm but I am not sure. IIRC they ran short and had to use less of them then originally planned.

If they're not real opals then why do they call them opals?

Is this a common thing in the glass game?

I've never had a piece with an opal in it, but I like the look, and always figured if the seller is calling them opals they must be opals...

Seems pretty disingenuous to me...
