Hey guys.

So my mom, has 2 diseases where she could be legally allowed marijuana. But she has been anti drugs all her life. This is a sensitive subject as it got me kicked out of the house, but I brought it up anyways, and for the first time ever she was more receptive to the idea. She said she would do some research and get back to me on it.

Here is where you come in. She has had fibromyalgia for years and more recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer. Had the surgery got it removed and has moved on to chemotherapy. This is where the latest struggle has come in. As you know feeling sick and shitty comes hand in hand with chemo...

I was hoping there would be some people (cancer survivors, or those currently going through it) on here who could give me a proof statement as to how it was able to helped you out. If not maybe you could link us to a few sites that would provide an encouraging reason as to why it would be beneficial to her.

She has no interest in "getting high". She just wants to feel better than she is feeling now. She told me Sunday was really bad and that she had dark thoughts coming to her that she was unable to keep away. As a result of how bad she felt, she surprisingly was at least receptive to the idea. She hates the idea of all these poisonous medications and stuff she has to take and is finding the side effects not so pleasant either.

Please help us so that my mom feel more comfortable with what she is dealing with and even the idea of using marijuana for a medicinal benefit.

Thank you!

I watched a movie called "The Culture High" on Netflix last night. It had many professionals talking and dispelling many of the myths around cannabis. I think it would be worth watching it with here and discussing after. Also had some great info on Pharmaceuticals and how they are pushed on people and often do more damage.

She should also be aware cannabis will NOT hurt her. I would suggest being there for her first few experiences as well. Eating it or vaping it would probably make her feel less taboo vs smoking it as well.

Also perhaps watch a few of these vids. https://www.google.ca/#q=fibromyalgia+cannabis&tbm=vid

Oh @weedemon I am so very sorry to hear about your mom.

I've been on chemotherapy and marijuana helped me immensely. It gave me an appetite when I was nauseous and helped with the pain. It also helped with sleep. Back then, there were no CBD products available, so your mom is in luck. She doesn't have to get high to find relief. With infused salves, bath salts, CBD products and maybe even vaping a little bit (if you an talk her into it) she can hopefully something that will make her feel better.

Edibles might also be a consideration, but I would start really weak. They aren't for everyone and might turn her off to cannabis entirely. They may also make her more nauseous.

Are you a Facebook member? There is a private group that is about Cannabis oil and it's success with cancer and other ailments there. You may want to ask to join:

Best of luck to her in her recovery.

thanks for the replies and support so far guys!

I am watching the culture high now, I think I will forward it to her so she and maybe even dad could watch it.

@momofthegoons, thanks a bunch for your reply. I am going to forward her a segment of what you wrote. I'm not on facebook sadly, but I don't think she is interested in not doing chemo. (My dad would flip his shit) We are hoping that MJ might just make getting though the next few months more tolerable.

I will be sure to check that site out, thanks @bounce5

@weedemon you may want to encourage her to join that Facebook page(or join yourself). Even if you go under a fictitious name. It is a wealth of information about all kinds of ways this green miracle of ours helps those who are sick. Everything from cancer to rashes. And they are serious folk; they aren't about getting high.

And I hope you didn't think I was saying she shouldn't do chemo! That is between her and her doctor.

I also wanted to add that mj helped with the depression that I had during chemo too.

Start small, start small, start small...

My wife has been anti-cannabis for nearly all of the 20+ years of our marriage. Recently, she had some pretty severe reactions to pain meds for a compound fracture (constipation and insomnia). She inquired about cannabis as an alternative. Long story short, I started her off with a very, very small with dosage and it was very effective for her. Unfortunately, on one of her bad days, I assumed more would be better. WRONG!!! I've never seen anyone ever have such an adverse reaction to cannabis (vaporized medical grade, 6 hits vs. her normal 1 hit). Nausea and disorientation are not helpful.

Just remember, if you are a regular long time user, your loved one will NOT have your tolerance.

Fortunately, this episode has not put her off of it completely. While she will never be a recreational user, she is not adverse to it when the need occasionally arises.

Remember, you are the experienced one when it comes to dosing. Take care of the ones you love and you'll have a solution for discomfort when the need arrises. Otherwise, you'll likely turn off you mom to this very effective medicine for good.

Truly hope you guys work it out. Cannabis is VERY effective medicinally speaking.

I haven't seen anyone mention it yet but I only skimmed the thread.

Look up Rick Simpson Oil. I think his website is this one: http://phoenixtears.ca/ It promotes his book.

Look up the documentary Run From the Cure also featuring (made by?) Rick Simpson.

It's very good and powerful stuff regarding the health benefits of boiling marijuana in alcohol and eating the resulting black oil substance.

Edit: In case I wasn't clear enough, RSO supposedly cures cancers. Success varies but for the most part it appears to work. No personal experience with it.
