Please offer suggestions for my upcoming Denver trip

Lucked into quite the business trip recently. Heading to Denver for a conference, and was able to add a day on either end. Unfortunately, I'll be there a bit sooner than the Cannabis Cup - but should have plenty of free time on my hands while I'm there.

So, where are the best recreational shops? Would rather be spending less $ than more, but prefer better products and willing to ante up. Looking for nice concentrates and fire flower. Figure edibles will be pretty much same everywhere, right? Have a few specifics on my short list, but edibles not usually a problem at home anyway (just have to make them).

Going to take a cheap oil rig (well cleaned) and hoping to clean up enough to bring back in checked bag. Not interested in the headache or stress of trying to bring any product home, though. Figuring CO is the worst place to try that these days. Not wanting to deal with taking butane torch either way. Bed, Bath & Beyond best place for cheap torch to leave behind?

Any cool legal clubs or hangouts? Have been trying to find what I can on the web, but kind of tricky. If you go to these places do they usually have glass to use? Do you bring your own? Do they have torches handy? Is it the kind of scene where people share and you can try a dab of theirs if you drop one of yours?

Thanks in advance for your input! Have never been in a totally legal zone, and although I visit CA on occasion have no way to get a med card (and never seems hard to score on the street). Let me know if you're in or near Denver and may want to meet up. Always good to hang out with a fellow FCer!

I don't know much about rec, but this is my advice...

There is a place called L'eagle that is fantastic IMO, but pricey. They do both med and rec. Why so expensive? Just go experience their shop, especially after visiting more high traffic shops, you will see why they are different.

For the more affordable route, my friends go to any of the Strainwise shops. There's one at 1st ave and Federal that I've seen good stuff from. You can also find a Westword magazine practically anywhere in town, and open it up to the back pages for coupons.

I've heard that purchasing Edibles kinda sucks at all rec shops, but since a lot of shops carry the same stuff, those coupons mentioned above help out a lot.

As far as clubs, I really haven't searched for these so I'm not really sure. The only ones I know of are attached to medical shops.

Hope that helps!

*if you can't get your rig clean enough for the trip back, I'll take it off your hands and keep it safe.

I'm not familiar with Denver shops but I can recommend some good products.

Concentrates (expect to pay near $70/g for top quality) :
Greendot (live resin and shatter)
TC Labs (shatter and wax)
TerpX (shatter and wax)
Viola (shatter and wax)
Trichome Heavy Extracts (full melt bubble)
Essential Extracts (full melt bubble)

Edibles:
Incredibles Bars

TC Labs stuff has always been my favorite. Clean and consistent.

Many thanks for the great info! Have been looking online at menus where I can. Was wondering about the Strainwise shops and will definitely check out L'eagle. Probably going to do the tourist thing the first day there, and then try to scope out the higher quality when I can. Will have as much time to shop as I do to try things out - such is the way with a business trip - and definitely going to finish everything there before I leave. So, a couple light buzzy evenings - and hopefully a couple wasted days!

Thanks again for all of the tips and likes. Just got in from Denver. All I can say now is WOW! And, I mean WOW! The wild west is something else. Only real downside is the only vape I had with me was the MFLB, so combustion was fucking me a little. Will post a report with a few tips I figured out while there soon, so others can start from there and hopefully add to them.

@flotntoke
Im planning a trip to Denver for 4/20 so any new info would be appreciated.....

Dude! If you're going for the CC, most of my specific info isn't going to be necessary! So jealous! You will have a blast. Everybody in the business I actually talked to (more than just dispensary chatter) is already gearing up out there. You'll probably have more samples and very cheap grams than I could imagine! You should check out anything you can find from CC last year. From what I heard it will be similar, but much bigger with more going on.

Some places do have better than others, though. Simple version is stick with those who are more into the weed than the hype. Seems in the haste to grow and sell as much as possible, some don't have the quality or clean from grow chems (pesticides, fungicides, etc) that others do.

I found a couple nice places, and lucked into a backstage tour at a really cool place that is doing incredible things with concentrates. More on that when I get caught up on things here at home, and have time to type some shit up from my stoned notes on various scraps of paper and receipts.

Two places I would strongly suggest, though. L'eagle for a dispensary. Many, many, many thanks to @Jman5280 for his tip about this place above. I owe you one, man!! Prices were a little higher (but not too bad) and the smallest they sold was half 1/8ths. But MAN, their shit was awesome! Texas Hash Plant has been a 3rd place winner in CC (I think) and a local hip mag out there. They're so into clean and organic that they didn't really have concentrates (no solvents allowed!), but their bubble was fantastic, too. Only had MFLB to vape from, so was combusting a good bit. But their shit was very smooth. Well grown, well trimmed and well cured. They had dates on everything telling when it was harvested (most about a year and well cured since). So many awesome strains, and they had an info sheet on every one of them on the wall. Not just S, I or H (sativa, indica, hybrid) like some places - but full active analysis, a nice pic of the bud, what the buzz was like, how that particular strain helped medically, and other cool shit. Instead of freaking out if you stuck your nose too far into the sample jar, my budtender actually dropped a nug in my hand and said "feel how dense this one is". They even have one of those big round magnifying glasses on an arm with a florescent light so you could get a good look at the trichs!!! Even more to report on this one later. I didn't get to nearly enough places to say this is the best dispensary in Denver - but they were far and away the best of what I found.

Found a couple of other good dispensaries also, but if you like a good beer would strongly suggest a trip to Great Divide. Good beers (some I've had here at home), and a really fun place if you just want to hang out and have a beer. Tiny place with no food inside, but a running variety of food trucks outside and can eat at the bar if you like. 4 oz tasters were $2 for the first 3, then $1 each. I eventually tried everything they had, and really enjoyed most. They didn't seem to mind having an old man hanging out at their hip spot either, which was very good for me.

Found some other great stuff there too - for weed, beer and good fun. But, these were the only two I was SURE to visit twice. Was actually a bit bummed I couldn't hit them thrice!

I'd also advise you stay away from any that have been regularly seen on CNN or where ever. As suspected, there were a few stoner tourist traps. Really chic, all snazzed up, cool as shit t-shirts - and higher prices and shittier bud than I saw anywhere else. Don't get me wrong.... if they were all that was there I would have been more than happy with it. But walked out empty handed from a few, and at one was bummed they were low on t-shirts even though I didn't want any of their product. That one was Native Roots. Right in the downtown shopping district. A nice stop for a tourist if you have the time, but I'd buy the good stuff elsewhere.

Will try to get more info together and up here or a fresh thread this weekend. I was kind of bummed there wasn't more solid info here or elsewhere on the web to research before I went, so think it might be cool to start something that others can add their experiences to. Weedmaps and Yelp just didn't seem to do a great job for me and seemed like there were hundreds of choices just in Denver.
