What kind of draw speed do I need to be using compared to my enano? And does the flame itself ever really need to touch the plate or is just breathing it down from slightly above enough.

I would be more than happy to post my one week fried cap for a good laugh if anyone cares :)

I find that if my draw speed is too fast from the start, I can't get extreme vapor density - when I notice this happening, I stop the hit, and restart with a slower draw speed. Typically, I start really slow with the draw until I see it start milking the glass, then I increase my draw speed. This is why I prefer the j-hook to the aluminum stem - the visual cue is essential for me to get those massive rips.

I'd say I pull a bit harder on my E-Nano than I would with my Lotus. But Unlike the nano, the start of my draw is key to the vapor production.

Regarding the flame distance. I typically start with the flame so close that the inner flame tip is barely kissing the hot plate (there's an audible sound difference when the inner flame is hitting the plate - listen for that sound to know). Then as I'm drawing, I pull back so just the outer flame or the tip of the outer flame is touching the plate.

The key for me personally is to constantly move that torch, otherwise I feel I will scorch the load/damage the cap

No need for a scoop with the wpa, you can just use it in the grinder as a scoop. Im still waiting on my stanard stem but wondering if i might still use the wpa as a scoop into the standard bowl

I always just scoop right out of my prepped jar using my stem or wpa. Still loving my lotus put about a gram through it maybe more last nite.

Who has tried concentrates pads in the lotus? The herbie pads are a smidge too big and may be too thick. I have little to no experience with degummed hemp fiber but i do have some from stickstones i could try

I personally would avoid concentrates with the current generation Lotus. Higher heat vaporizing risks damaging the cap. There is a high temp version for concentrates in the works, but there is no release date yet

The smaller "ceramic flavor disks" from Silver Surfer fit the lotus bowl nicely.

Why do we need a high temperature cap for concentrates? The vaporization temperatures of the cannabanoids are still the same, aren't they? (I admit I'm still a newbie when it comes to concentrates)

Wooot I got a lotus! My first butane vape (and I don't have any butane to use it yet derp)

I will be heading into town on Wednesday, should I look for any specific brands? I have heard Vector mentioned a few times.

Any other tips to get me on track for a guy coming from battery vapes :)

Be careful to avoid overheating the plate too much. Constant motion works best for me in my opinion. The Lotus is a beast once you learn proper torch control

I'll buy a high temp cap for sure, but have no problems with the current one (and I have the old ver with grooves on the hot plate - still going strong) for hash at least.

I'll admit I have little to no experience with oils/shatter/wax etc, but the Lotus is my favourite vape for bubble hash and the high grade Moroccan (which bubbles nicely itself) that I get semi regularly.

I use a relatively long flame and once the plate is to temp the torch is backed well off so the flames barely in contact with the plate. I also keep it moving in circles too.

ladies and gentlemen

i have implemented a new technique, it is called FBC (finger, blow, clean)

how to repeat this, simply remove the plug covering the end of the pipe. then continue as normal except that you have to cover the hole with your finger. then magically; after doing your thing and moving finger away from hole, you can blow the whole lenght nearly gunk free while its fresh!

happy pipe blowing, people!

I've used the soaked hemp in the Lotus and it works fine. You don't need higher temps because you are just bringing it to standard vaping temps. Hit it like it was a bowl loaded with herb.

My hopes with the Lotus this time is to be able to acclimate myself to it as well as the Enano. The Enano took quite some time find the perfect technique that works best for me. I imagine each individual's perfect technique will be different with the Lotus much like the Enano.

On another note, I think my favorite piece I did use with the Lotus was the d020. I had read people thought that you were to close to the flame, but it didn't bother me. I also used a 15" piece from Dhgate that the Lotus didn't seem to keep up with.

I impulse purchased the $20 6 inch Bake Bros bubbler. It's one of the most adorable things I've ever seen. Unfortunately, my 18mm-14mm glass reducers don't fit it, so I can't really use it until I get some new ones. It still hits very nicely in spite of the improper seal. It's going to be my travel piece.

I was initially worried about how close it puts the Lotus to your face, but it wasn't a problem in practice. My messed up reducers add about an extra centimeter and it still isn't a problem. For $23, shipped, I think it's a phenomenal purchase. I ordered it on the 12th and it arrived less than an hour ago.

I probably don't concern myself as much with full and complete extraction as some of you, as taste and less harsh vapor is more important to me than conserving medicine. That said, im really liking packing a nice half a load in the lotus and taking one giant rip through water and blowing out the herb. One hit and quit. I still get pretty even browning this way.

Yeah I feel the same as you... I just love the lotus for bubble hash and I feel I'm not overhating the cap... oils and shatters and wax are a diferent story though...

Any recommendations for water pipes/bubblers that pair well with the lotus? They must be 14mm to work with the WPA right?

I wouldn't worry about 14mm vs 19mm. Get the piece you like the best, then get a reducer, if necessary.

I have a 15 inch honeycomb bong (QB001) and a 6" bubbler that both pair very nicely. The 6" is great for getting medicated smoothly while the QB delivers those old school, monster rips. The QB001 was purchased through Sunshine Store for about $40 and the 6" from Bake Bros for $23, shipped.

Both of them have 19mm joints, so I've been using reducers. I have some glass ones and a couple silicone ones I got from @Ratchett. The silicone adapters are a little thick, but are great for traveling.

What is a reducer? I am also concerned about the stir stick

Also concerned about the angle for heating the lotus
