Cloudy...
@b0 I love my Elevape too (you meant convection didn't you, that happens so often lol, easy to typo), seems this is going to be a very welcome addition though! I can see using it the most...

Hahahaha yes I mean convection, don't know how I write conduction. I remember being using my EVO, writting that and thinking "it's convection dude, not conduction" and in the end I write it wrong

Are there any retail stores carrying these units? Or strictly right now it is just for preorder units?

There are no stores as yet, the GH hasnt been released to retail yet. Just preorder only at present but then expect to wait until at least May and possibly going into June before they arrive in peoples hands at a guess.

I have a shipping date of April for mine, but that is looking a bit unlikely now....but who knows:hmm:

@BuzzDanklin

I wouldn't mind seeing a full picture of the charger. Is it easily pocketable, or does it have a large power converter built into it?

If it isn't easy/feasible to carry the charger around in my pocket then that is a big negative to me.

Also they need to sell battery cases that hold 2 or 4 batteries IMO.

I don't know if I would really want to carry it around with me unless I had a small backpack or something to carry it in. This is a shot from Grasshopper Labs while we're doing some initial charge testing. I really like the design and you can just use the cord to pull the charger off the unit.

I really like the idea of a small little case to carry a few extra batteries in. That seems a little more practical than carrying around the charger. IMO YMMV.

It's real.

How big of a baggie do you think would be able to carry a charger? I was thinking for a battery, maybe a bluetooth case?

Thanks for the picture, but that doesn't clear anything up for me. I still don't know what the other end looks like.
Is it just a male USB on the other end? Is there a power converter built onto the charger(similar to the bulky square part of a laptop charger)?

I wouldnt think it was a usb....although I could be wrong. Would a usb have enough power to charge it?

The other side is USB and they have a brick just after the USB charging cable to protect the unit/user. I'll try to get a better picture of the entire cable. Still though, not something I want to carry around. Come to think of it, I don't carry around any charging cables with me so this doesn't really apply to me lol. I just make sure it's charged before I leave or bring extra bats. Here's a better (*shitty blurry) pic though:

*Well shit, I still use the Crafty cable with the battery pack so there's that. The Crafty cable is much smaller though, this is a bit cumbersome to throw in a pocket. BUT Crafty doesn't have replaceable batteries either...so then there's that. To each his own I suppose.

Also, any pics that I add here, I will add to the IMGUR album as well: http://imgur.com/a/ezXWy

It was bugging me so... FOR SCIENCE! I guess it's actually not too much longer. Just the brick at the end.

Thanks @BuzzDanklin

I know most would rather carry spare batteries, but I would rather carry the charger and just top-up when I need it(situation dependent of course). That charger is definitely not too big for me.

Hopefully GH has plans to sell spare USB chargers. I would like one to keep at home and one to keep in the car that I could grab when I need it.

I know I am gonna sound like a paranoid dude here but I would not charge this in a car or PC port personally, those are like the only two ways E-Cigarettes have exploded by my knowledge, you want a steady wattage/voltage on these types of things, wall plug only for me...

Maybe this works different though, idk, just seems iffy, plus sunlight hitting a metal pen containing a battery seems like a no no in any book... :uhoh:

I think the "brick" protects it from those issues...

I think....

I think charging lithium batteries with a simple charger is a bit psychotic. I've read some interesting stories on candlepowerforums

I understand your concern
The e-cig thing really only applies to crappy ego batteries that are produced with overrated cells to begin with, or are related to a bad cell/charger issue. Li-ion batteries are powerful. If they aren't used/treated properly, bad things can always happen.

I can certainly charge my phone from the computer or car without issue(still a Li-ion battery). 5vDC is 5vDC. A laptop's USB port may carry less amperage than a wall adapter, that simply means the attached device would draw less amperage or simply not work.

I never said I would be charging in the sunlight, from computer, or in the car even. I would keep a charge cable in the car for on the go situations. That way I still have a cable at home in case I lost/forgot the other one somewhere, like a friend's house.

I would charge in the car sometimes though, I would just never do so in an unattended or hot car. Same applies to anything I would charge anywhere.

Depends, I would wager even egos with built in protection(Name brands) that are dropped or handled enough could go haywire internally if some stuff is knocked loose.

A laptop sure, but there is always a chance no? Like to much current at once randomly? By all means do what you wish, I was just bringing up the possibility of it happening, same can be said about anything, cellphones, mp3 players, etc....

Not you in particular, but its something that MANY people do...

People do it all the time, that is the thing, no offense meant towards you exactly...if it sounded that way, I apologize.

Yes even name brand Ego batteries have that same issue, again it goes back to the cell being over rated or an issue with the charger/hardware itself. It's not the USB port's fault that the battery went postal.

I could have my Vaporshark rDNA40(which can handle 2A charge rate) plugged into a 10A USB port(or 100A for that matter if it existed) and the Vaporshark still won't pull more than 2A.

The same thing applies whether I am plugging in the GH, my Vaporshark, or an EGO battery. The charging circuit in whatever device/charger that's plugged in handles the current/voltage regulation. As long as that charging circuit is doing it's job correctly then all is gravy.

No need to apologize, I have taken no offense. We are just discussing.

Edit
If I took a 2A device and plugged it into the 0.5A port on my computer, I could harm my computer, the attached device should be fine still though.
