Does it adjust heat during the draw to make up for different draw speeds? In other words, would a strong hit work just as well as a weak hit or is there a sweet spot on the draw?

As I understand it (@scott_dunlap can check me on this) it does adjust during the draw. I have been meaning to mention that I've tried various draw speeds and haven't noticed any difference, so I'd say there's no "sweet spot" needed. Of course, you can only pull so hard on it because it's not completely free-flow. I have noticed that if you're using the highest temperature and you pull really hard, you'll drop it into purple (heating mode).

Something else I should mention: I said earlier that I can handle the oven lid immediately after turning it off. That's true, but if you've been using it for several minutes at four petals (something I wouldn't normally do) then it does get hot enough to make me drop it after a second or so. It won't burn you but it that much heating does make it a bit uncomfortable to hold.

They said the oven was deeper - not larger. It's not as wide, but lets just shut down the 'larger' now because PAX isn't claiming that at all. Maybe the different shape facilitated the more efficient heater, or versa?

EDIT:
PAX 1 Volume - 22.6mm x 8.5mm x 9.10mm = 1748.1 cubic mm
PAX 2 Volume - 18.5mm x 8.6mm x 10mm = 1597 cubic mm

Consider round corners, and these measurements fall apart. But since both have round corners, clearly the heating chamber on the PAX 2 is smaller than the PAX 1

EDIT2: already available for pre-order!

Noticed that your preorder link was from Vapeworld. I was curious if you thought that there was an advantage of going through them instead of directly from Pax. I normally would default to buying direct but if there is a good reason to deal with Vapeworld instead, I would certainly consider them.

I go where the thrills are
I'm a little confused. I just went on their site and it states that the original PAX has a 10 year warranty but it looks like the Model 2 only has a 90 day limited warranty. Am I missing something here?

https://www.paxvapor.com/support/warranty/

That appears to refer to "model two", not the Pax 2...which is some kind of tobacco pod device, not the Pax 2.

https://www.paxvapor.com/media/wysiwyg/from-media/13-1017_modelTwo_User_Guide.pdf

I'm assuming that all Pax models have the ten year warranty, since it says that for "Pax" under the warranty specs.

I think the ploom model 2 might be one of those old butane powered pens they sold before pax.

:rofl:And that scared crap out of me till I saw the link. I do have to say this one has my attention, That's going from zero interest with pax to serious contender with 2 good job guys. I honestly thought at first glance this one wouldn't be for me at all.

10 year no worries warranty :)

The 10 year warranty shows how confident the Pax guys are on the durability of their product. It certainly will give owners piece of mind that Pax will stand by their product 100%. That said, it's hard for me to imagine that anyone would actually pursue the warranty after 4 or 5 years or so. Vape technology is moving so quickly that current portable vaporizers could very well become obsolete in 3 or 4 years... For that reason I'd actually be very comfortable with a 5 year warrantee. YMMV..

10 years from now we could be on PAX 5!!

I love my Pax, flaws and all. It has pretty much done everything I've asked of it with minor inconveniences. If I didn't have a Grasshopper on order I'd definitely be getting the 2. Hope you all enjoy it.

I have both Pax 2 and Grasshopper coming. These two should have me covered in the stealth potable category for quite some time. I feel like a spoiled vape brat having both these units coming LOL.

I was wondering how easy it is to empty the ABV from the oven. Do you just give it a couple taps to empty completely or do you need to use a little brush or something to totally clear the ABV from the oven? Probably the same as the original PAX, but I've never used it so IDK...

The experience I had with my pax1, I found if I tapped out the ABV while the oven was still warm, it usually just tapped right out with little to no residuals. If you let it cool first, the remaining oils in the load harden and tend to make the herb stick more (true of most of my vaporizres) and the leaf will be more difficult to fully remove. After some build up, a light brush or wipe with a qtip never hurts. I like to keep my oven as clean as possible so the flavor does not get compramised. I used to let the oven heat on low and wipe it clean with a dry qtip while it was warming, seemed to keep things pretty clean with out needing Iso. On that point, a warm pax airpath is also easier to get clean, if you either clean it just after a sesh, or just let it warm a bit, maybe draw some warm air up into the airpath before you start to clean (careful not to burn yourself, use common senese).

Fast Company article just out: "Here comes the Whole Foods-ification of Marijuana" with a spotlight on the Pax 2 as how they describe vaping to a mass audience. Basically implies that the type of people who will pay more for high quality, thoughtfully-sourced weed are the same people who are going to buy the Pax 2. Hard for the Pax 2 to get better marketing than that.

Interesting article beyond the pax...probably deserves its own thread.

Any plans for a trade in/upgrade program?

I actually got an email back from Ojan about this a couple of days ago. Here's his reply..

"Good question! I'm definitely going to share your suggestion with my supervisors since I've had this request a few times. Although we don't have any kind of trade-in program in place at this time, it does sound like something our consumers want :)

Although I don't have any good news, I appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and will get it to the right place. Let me know if you have any other questions as well!"

That's encouraging. I wish it could be incorporated with Vito's pay it forward program somehow. Oh well. Wishful thinking.

If I'm not mistaken they are.
If you mean his language and manners.. then yes.
If you refer to the units condition.. well it should arrive in the box, and it's sparkle should be blinding!

The folks at Ploom are joining us as an Armament provider for this next phaze of our war!
Our own @pakalolo helped in discussing the "PIF" program (programme) with a representative of Ploom.
They are going to get us a Pax for a few of our patients.
I was floored that such good will can show up as it has!
Thanks Ploom!

@scott_dunlap, @Ojan_at_PAX
For the record, I will upgrade if you come up with a program and I bet there are a lot of the 500,000 Pax owners who won't buy new but would upgrade.
