Apparently the Aussie website banning program went into effect today . 10,000 sites made their list already, many cannabis related . This is a terrible blow to our Aussie friends rights . I don't know if FC made the list yet, I hope not. We may not see some of our friends here anymore, thanks fascism  :(.

Ouch. Australia loses some coolness.
Australia never was cool. It has always been run by idiots voted in by apathetic thickheads.

This is just another national embarrassment.

umm...where did you hear that the filtering trial has started?

I can say with some authority it hasn't.

I heard about it over at ICmag.com. The Aussie members there said they had to use a proxy to access the site as well as hipforums.com.

I can access icmag just fine along with hipforums. And I'm in Australia.
Thats good news BM, I wonder what they're smoking over at ICmag . Hopefully this ban never actually materializes.

The filtering trial also is only to be aimed at some specific categories of sites, MJ consumption not included in that - the scary part is how loose they want to make the legislation, starts off with them saying we're blocking all X content but then there's nothing to say tat in a year they can't turn it into "oh..but we also don't like what that person has to say so we'll block them too"

and who polices what they ban? internet filtering is really bad news :(

Sounds like a scam to me. Australia can be a bit hard hiting with some of there policies. Seems like a move towards communism (dunno if thats spelt right :uhoh:) if you ask me. Big brother is watching you and stopping you from sharing information.

Hopefully here in NZ we have a bit more of an open mind.

Thanks for posting. I hadn't seen that report, although I heard Bob Carr's statement and there was an article on the ABC News website which got hundreds of comments.

Now they pushing data retention hold your browsing in central spot for two years and no warrant needed for enterprise or government to see what one is browsing or buying on the internet..

Rock on! This another victory?

The Australian Parliament passed a measure Wednesday legalizing medical marijuana.
The amendments to the Narcotic Drugs Act will allow cannabis to be legally grown for medical and scientific purposes for the first time in Australia.

I need to read more into this, but had to drop a YEAH by way of @Stevenski , @Nugg , and everyone else who I can't remember at the moment!

Vape on and piece by piece we're winning over this planet!!!
