Herb Grinders

Who knew I could get VAS over grinders. Or maybe it should be called VA(accessories)AS. I have a perfectly good grinder from puffitup.
I notice that no one has bought the gold $500 grinder. The Amazon one looks like a great deal. The massdrop one doesn't seem to be available online now except at massdrop. When I was young I used to make the decision when I was stuck between 2 choices by just buying both. I'd be better off financially if I'd learned a different strategy. Like if I can't decide buy neither.

Edit: sorry if it's an old joke but I just had to.

I've had a few and thought to myself which one do I use the most. 90% of my flowers go thru my SCS 3 piece. It is one of my favorite accessories because the Kief stays with the flowers, it acts as a smell proof container, and it's never messy. Got it at my lhs for $45 and thought it was one of my best purchases . I also use a cheaper 2 piece from space case for a finer grind. The SCS really fluffs up your material, while the space case would be more suitable for my conduction vapes like the pax and ascent.

It was actually your picture with the matching color of the SCS and the S&b filling tool that inspired me to pick one up (but orange was impossible to find so got the red). Appreciate t-dub posting that picture when I was in search for a grinder.

Well, I received my Cosmic Case grinder today... gotta say it's pretty much exactly the same as the SCS. You can really tell, that the history behind these brands is true - that one of the makers of Cosmic Case split off to create SCS. Same diameter pieces, virtually the same weight and although I can't properly compare the SCS to the CC, I think the grind is just as fluffy as what the SCS does.

I know this video drags on a bit, and I may have made references to "a previous video" that I had done, but that one's 16 minutes long and just compares the grinders, and thought you guys would benefit more from an actual test.

So here it is - I'd advise watching in 1080p.

EDIT - Skip to 3 minutes or so for the results. When I say "I'm surprised" it's actually a pleasant surprise - this means I may not even bother getting another SCS, and just use this for fluffing.

Forgive me, but does the cosmic case have diamond shaped teeth or cube shaped teeth? I can't find any actual pictures of the Cosmic's teeth pattern

Because the special sauce that makes SCS so special is it's teeth pattern/shape

But the teeth in @Gaffa's vid don't look like space case teeth. They're more... rhomboid?

Edit: more like Kannastor teeth IMO

Ahh I see now
Space Case shaped teeth, at slight angle....
BUT... with 2 concave sides (similar to the concavity of SCS), and with two flat sides like the Space Case.
I am not sure about the design, I suppose I would have to try it to get the logic behind this placement and shape.

Wow, been using it a bit more extensively this evening and I have to say I'm very impressed.

Basically - grind normally and you get a consistency similar to that of the SCS, grind upside-down and it's really quite fine.

The teeth on the Space Case are simply Diamond - the teeth on the Cosmic Case have the two diamond sharp points at top and bottom, and two slightly less sharp points at either side in the middle. I think these help to "swirl" the bud around in the grinding sections and help it down into the main section where the ground bud goes.

Nothing really new here. This offset design has been used by MixnBall and on inexpensive brands like Chromium Crusher and Smart Crusher. It's my favorite tooth shape, all things considered. Cuts through bud easier than the more squared off SCS design, and grinds better than the standard diamond shape.

Yep, I'd be inclined to say it's "old" - seeing as CC were probably a couple of years before the others mentioned.

How do you like the grind on that? I got an orange one and haven't used it yet . . . :)
It's okay for what it is. It offers more of a grind than a shred, but it does a good enough job. The plastic teeth will make an audible click when encountering dry thick stems or seeds, but none broke so it seems like they are flexible enough and the plastic is of decent quality. I didn't have the case on my trip and the deep part is hard to get a dishscrubber to, so now my medtainer smells like aramis on the inside. So it's good that it's air and watertight, but you have to turn it until it clicks when you close it, or it WILL open on its own.

For the world is hollow and I have touched the sky
Just ordered a 2.2" SharpStone 4 piece (definitely not a knockoff as I ordered directly from their website). Found a 20% off discount code so I got it for $24 (plus $2.50 shipping). Not a bad price in my book! I will post a review once I get it and am able to test it.
Loving my sharpstone so far! Very nice finish (got the grey one - sorry no pics). Seems to be well made with quality materials. Though the grind is a little more coarse than I was hoping for, it's not enough to be a cause for complaint. Actually, the more I use it, I'm starting to kinda like the slightly coarser grind. And the kief collection is superb! Overall, I'd definitely recommend it to others. Can't see myself ever spending more on a "name brand" grinder considering the quality of these at less than half the price. Just my :2c:
