I've sent them an email. Hopefully they will get back to me soon with a possible solution. I mean, I didn't even get to try this thing. It was defective right out of the box. Just sucks after doing all this research and waiting and now I have to wait even longer.
Ouch , sorry to hear this man. I am surprised they didn't give it a good test before shipping it out. I am expecting mine today in the mail. I am now thinking i may just make sure it operates properly and than list it for sale here at a discount.

Let us know if yours works when it arrives. If that's the case, I might just return it for a refund since it has never been used and was defective right out of the gate. I would hate to send it back and wait another couple weeks for a new one just to have the same thing happen over again.

wow i havent been on in a while, and its a bit unsettling to see so many users having troubles with the alfa. ive had my goboof since release date. drove out and picked it up from the gotvape kiosk. i havent run into any problems yet.

fingers crossed that i dont run into any problems. i dont even want to have to deal with any customer service issues lol. however, with the pax 2 release, my VAS is kicking in stroooong!!!

Sorry to hear your Vaporizer isn't working from the "get go"…..but while you wait to hear from GoBoof there are other really good ones out there. All you need to do is ask and I'm sure you will hear about 9 zillion other ones which work fantastically…..that is while you are waiting!!!

Take care…..Frodo

Hey guys, for those of you who use the alfa daily, how often do you clean it?
I've been using mine daily for 4-5 months and I took out the screen in the oven to clean twice lol, I haven't cleaned the stem part once. (I take out the mouthpiece, open the oven, and look down the stem hole but I can't see any build up)

I love this thing

Did you ever get the USB charger from Amazon to work? I get a red charge light, but it has never turned green on me. Thus, I do not know if it's actually working. Well, I guess I better stop being lazy, deplete my Alfa of charge (oh no, more vaping ) and then see if I can use the USB charger to charge enough to even heat the unit.

Well...my Alfa showed up today finally.. I've turned it on and it did stop flashing. So it does get to temp... Bout to test it out for real now..after two bowls... It is working great and I think I'm gonna like it.. didn't get much on low but medium worked great. Second bowl used the auto time setting... And smoked til I could no longer take anymore. Both came out golden brown.. way lighter then my pax ever was.. still gotta figure out best way to pack this thing.

Goboof did just now email me back. They are walking me through troubleshooting steps. Hopefully this issue can be solved and if not then I hope they offer to send me a new unit. I will keep everyone updated as soon as things happen.

I've searched and searched but no luck.... Can someone please tell me the best consistency to grind my material up for the Alfa? Is it like the pax and likes a real fine grind or does it matter with the Alfa?

I got my Alfa back from Goboof. They were generally pretty good to deal with and had the Alfa repaired and back to me within a week of sending it to them. The note from the engineer said it had had its heater replaced, plus being reprogrammed and recalibrated.

It's definitely working better than before, it's producing some nice vapour now. But to be honest I'm still not as blown away by it as everyone in this thread seems to be. I mean it's nice, it produces tasty hits that definitely have an effect, but it just doesn't seem that efficient. That chamber takes a surprisingly large amount of material to fill because you have to pack it - it takes about as much as I would run through my Vapor Genie in two evenings, and that amount lasts me not quite one evening, plus I don't really seem to get the huge hits that I can from my Vapor Genie that really knock you for six.

I dunno, perhaps I just need a little time working out how to pack it for optimum efficiency. I was kind of hoping that this would become my daily driver but it's looking more like it'll just be something I use when I need portabiltiy, and I'll carry on using the VG at home.

Does anyone know of a good way to load it a little less - does it work well if you just load half the chamber and pack it down?

My current method is to sprinkle material in until the chamber is full, pack it down, top it up and pack it again. Anyone like to share their methods?

Just had mine for a day now and have been filling the chamber once and packing it down and get pretty good results.. only using .1-.15. I would still like to know the best grind consistensy for it.. I'll have it figured out by the end of the day tho...

I am always kind of surprised when people say they are having a hard time getting good results.

I have found that the Alfa (or at least my unit) works great whether I put in a little, or pack it down, as long as the material is well ground.

Next to my Mighty, it is the easiest Vape to use. It has always produced efficient results, no matter what I have done to it.

Ok...this answers my question as well, thank you... So I assume all vapes work best with a fine grind. I have a general question in regaurds of the abv material from Alfa vs pax... The Alfa is sooooo much lighter then anything ever coming out of my pax... Does this mean the Alfa is just that much more efficient then the pax? Cause the abv looks like I could keep going but vapor is gone. This from only having experience vaping with the pax tho.

I know, I'm kind of surprised myself, since I've quite happily mastered some of the vapes that have a reputation for having a bit of a learning curve, like the VaporGenie and MFLB.

I'm starting to think maybe I have got into the habit of getting my VG really (too) hot and that's why the output of vapes with more precise temperature control seems a bit lacking to me.

At this point, since it's just come back from Goboof and been tested by their engineers, I can only assume it is working correctly, so it must be me.

Maybe I'll try just filling and packing once as Woodeewoood suggest.

My Alfa always produce ABV that is very dark/black. Their high setting temp is 230c / 446f, which is pretty up there. Try a very fine grind. You need to get the most surface area available, to get the most out of your product.

Ok, this makes sense to me. I've just been getting really good clouds with a normal grind and small amounts so haven't messed with grinding differently.. thanks... Maybe this will make me like my Alfa that much more. I've just been using the medium setting. Never liked high setting on anything I've tried. Can't get much vapor on low or a/p settings. Maybe my grind is the issue there.

With me, this is my regiment.

1. Start with two tokes on Low
2. Move to Med for 4 or so tokes
3. Dump material out, to stir, re-load
4. Take a couple of more on Med
5. Move to High setting, take a couple more
6. Dump and reload, always get at least two more on high.

Grinding fine, and stirring (or better yet, dumping and reloading) is key to getting great results, for me.

I carry a subscription card from a magazine, folded in half. Duck into the bathroom/stall for a moment, dump material on to it, reload. If outside, nobody even looks at me. A slight pain, but worth it to maximize the herb. When done right, rivals my Mighty in terms of efficiency.

As for stealth, I can be in the next room at home, or walk around with it cupped in my hand, and nobody sees a thing.

I can't say enough great things about this product. I see the issues on this site, and have been prepared every day for it to go down, but so far, it's just been amazing.

Some interesting stuff. I haven't been stirring at all (I don't know why, I do with my other vapes), so I might try smaller loads and a stir half way through, I think that might help efficiency.

Mike M, that's about as many draws I get out of a load, it just doesn't seem that many compared to how much you have to put in. Do you pack your oven really full? Someone on another forum told me they were getting around 12 large, thick clouds out of a load, which I have to say sounds almost impossible to me.

I'll experiment some more :)

I always forget to count when I use it, but if you stir/reload I would think 10 to 12 is possible. I just pour finely ground material in, don't stuff it that much, just basically fill it.

When I reload it, I'm always amazed how farther it goes, I think that and the fine grind is the key.

The only convection vape that doesn't need stirring is my Mighty.

I'm sure some would disagree, but from my experience my conduction vapes work best with a fine grind. I always use a very fine grind in my Pax, MFLB, & Alfa, but a medium grind in my convection vapes. I use almost a sand consistency in the Alfa. I use the Magic Flight finishing grinder for the Alfa, the Pax, and the MFLB.

I also think that only using medium heat would help explain why you aren't getting dark ABV. There are a lot more hits to be had from an Alfa bowl if you turn it from medium to high. Mike M is right that stirring it up also maximizes extraction. But the Alfa does a pretty good job without stirring because of that rod. A lot of times I don't bother stirring.

I used the Alfa for the first time last night, and was completely blown away at how well it worked, how good it tasted, and how efficient it was. On the first hit! Flow was great. Heat was quick. I just don't like the mouthpiece coming out so easily. You can flip it of course, but its a bitch to get back out.

Not sure why, maybe the vestiges of bad IOLITE memories, but I was super shocked with the Alfa. Chicken Dinner for sure.

10 to 12 regular hits, sure. But I was describing the HUGE clouds I can get from my Bronze VG, which I haven't able to yet get from the Alfa, and this person assured me they could get 10-12 hits of that sort of size from one bowl in the Alfa.
