If I bought a pre-order I would expect the newest design with all the fixes. I understand if you took part in the fund raising you might not get that, but even then, why not start off your product with the best possible units and make all people happy.

The best possible units now may well not be the best possible units next year.
I'm just commenting on us being beta testers. I think it's quite likely that refinements will be made and early adopters won't have them.
Not talking about "what if the batteries start exploding?" or the circuit boards fail or something....

@BuzzDanklin

I wouldn't mind seeing a full picture of the charger. Is it easily pocketable, or does it have a large power converter built into it?

If it isn't easy/feasible to carry the charger around in my pocket then that is a big negative to me.

Also they need to sell battery cases that hold 2 or 4 batteries IMO.

I think the $7 per battery would help with that. Plus when I carry a kit, like bubbler, recharger and stuff I usually use a bag, so size is not that important.

@BuzzDanklin appreciate the detailed post here and all the answers. Was reading your instragram posts and saw an interesting comment of yours regarding the 18-second timer:

The combusting comparison is helpful. Seems like its going to be a different experience than using a Solo, for example, but for an ultra-portable this type of ritual makes sense to me. Quite different than you'd experience with a corded vape.

Also, it sounds that given the level of tweaking they are doing in China that production units are not really being shipped right now as the last update implied. Late March might be possible for a few units but realistically units wont be shipping in any volume until sometime in April.

If you look back at buzz's post on 170 with the pic of the manual; it says the warranty covers general "wear and tear" for the life of the product as long as you are the original purchaser. To me if you broke the clip that could be thought of as normal "wear and tear." So, if you receive the old style of gh, you could send it in at a later time for an updated vape under the warranty. They are not going to have the old style ghs forever, in most cases in warranty claims you have to receive an equal or better product than what you sent in? If they don't have the original you would receive yours back "fixed" or a new one. I'm just saying that if you receive an old model you could probably find a way through their liberal warranty statement to receive an updated product.

I would think that even though they are in China they have a crew back at home to do assembly. They hired a person specifically to manage this task. So, I would think they could ship the ones that are done back to colo and the assembly manager could assemble and ship those. If not why even have an assembly manager? I think Matt and Trevor would like to be there for final qc at the Chinese manufacturing sites but once that is done, I would hope they have the confidence in their staff to get stuff done back at home.

I don't think the clip would just "wear and tear" and fall off...don't abuse the warranty and they will stay a healthy company!

What would I need to hook this up to my Pinnacle Pro bubbler (I use a 14mm GonG right now to use it with my air)? thanks.

Just the shipping time could be up to a month from China. Unless they are bringing the GH's.. back with them on their return trip we will be lucky to see them in April. Realistically I think May will be the month.

I've broken many clips off of pens over time from them being hooked over my pocket. I was not meaning to say to "abuse" the warranty. My point was that if you are given a less than product, you could use the warranty to receive the product you were suppose to receive in the first place. The clip was an example of possible warrant coverage. This is all hypothetical anyway because we do not know what people have received so far, so everyone may get the updated model in the end anyway.

If they send them by boat, then, yes, we are in for a wait. Well, more of a wait...

The GonG has an herb chamber, so I don't think that will work.

On another note, I just decided to pull-the-trigger on one but it won't go though to Paypal.....is this a sign??

By wear and tear I think they mean the use of the GH over time may affect the functionality of it. I don't think they're going to replace a working vape just because the clip broke, but hey, guess we'll see right?

Yeah @hi_there it fits into 14mm bongs or adapters and seals natively with the silicone heat guard.

@b0 I love my Elevape too (you meant convection didn't you, that happens so often lol, easy to typo), seems this is going to be a very welcome addition though! I can see using it the most...

Also re: warranty for screens, Buzz made it pretty clear they're fixing the screens and charger before shipping. These guys are perfectionists, it took this long already, they're taking the time to ensue its ready. Ship dates were estimates, were almost there, but what Buzz (and potential few others) have is pre production unit. Everybody just settle down

Well said.

The GH team could've shipped out a unit when they promised, but it would've looked half-ass'ed. Obviously there will be revisions after they start shipping, that's to be expected. I don't think theres one vape that didn't wasn't modified after their launch. What matters is that they're trying to perfect it before they ship it out, so any modifications will be minor.

Question @BuzzDanklin: is the battery in the AA format? Is it possible to replace it with any AA 3.7v rechargeable cell ?

They have created a custom battery for the Grasshopper, there was no can in the size they needed,.

I got a really good vibe from Matt/Trevor. They are trying to shake this industry up by releasing a vape with very little profit margin compared to their competitors. They seem a lot more interested in gaining market share, and trust in the industry than making a quick buck. I don't see any reason they won't honor their warranty as well or better than other companies in this niche based upon their goals/ideals

I believe they were bringing back 500 units as carryons on the plane, and shipping 1000 more units worth via air. They made it sound like everything that needed to be ordered via boat (like the heavy/large packaging) they ordered a while ago and already have it waiting.

don t know as long as you don t know about their costs to develop the gh you really can t say how much profit they made out of it until now...

I wasn't saying that people should take advantage of the liberal warranty for any ole' reason. What I was saying, maybe unclearly, was if a company sends you an inferior product, one that you get because you supported them earlier than everyone else and they will not upgrade you to the newer product that the majority of buyers are receiving, then, you could use the warranty to your benefit to get the upgraded product. At the end of the day it would have been kind of irresponsible of them to send an inferior product just because you supported them in their infancy. It seems counterproductive. Also, at no point did I say this would be necessary because I don't believe the gh team would send out pre-production units with out having a plan to later send out the production units to those people.

I think it's obvious their profit margin will be virtually zero.. At least initially. What did they take in like $375,000.? Less 2 years salary for three or four people...less R&D costs... Less material cost....Less manufacturing costs... Less legal, accounting and patent fees...Less travel expenses for trips to China ie. Airfare, hotels, food... These guys are in the red my friends. They have a long range plan for profitability and they are in this for the long run. Like I said before, these guys could have taken the $375,000 quickly slapped together an inferior product and perhaps made a decent return. They chose to take their time so they could deliver to market a Grasshopper of the highest quality and functionality as possible. I commend them for that and wish them the best of luck in this endeavor!!

Okay, now where's my fucking Grasshopper LOL....
