Ok so following my question about treating the wood on my LB I've ordered this.

This should be ok right?

I should think so. Without the solvent it'll be harder to get sooth thin layers, and it may not dry down as hard, but it should do you fine. Lots of guys use products heavy in bees' wax.

Magic Flight is on backorder for the Water Adapter.

I did notice that puffitup.com has them though, and you should be able to find the FC 15% coupon. Not sure if it will work with a small item like the adapter though.

I dropped my glass tube today, shaking the box, to mix it.

REST IN PIECE(s)... FIRST MFLB GLASS TUBE :(

I picked up a few shards to reclaim the oil I was building...so much for that experiment

:peace:
I use the acrylic stems still.
I realize that glass is a "classier" material, but I prefer the acrylic.

When I'm out and about I always use my acrylic. I've already broken one glass stem that was dropped while the LB was getting passed around. However, I do prefer the feel of the glass stem so I replaced it. If I'm at a friends relaxing, then I'll take the glass, but for a party, or something active, it's acrylic all the way.

Here is a picture of the exotic MFLB that I recently acquired. :) The color seems way too dark to be Maple. The flash makes the box appear lighter as well.

That looks like a koa box to me, Vicki. Tough to be sure without handling it. Beautiful piece whatever it is.

Thanks. I fell in love with it as soon as I got it. :D I'm not sure what a KOA box looks like. I remember people talking about them, but I can't find a picture. I could swear this exotic MFLB looks like cherry wood, but not sure if Magic Flight even made the exotic's in cherry. It's VERY dark wood. The picture makes it look lighter than it really is.

I liked collecting something, like the oil, even if it was in that tiny glass tube.

I was going to take a picture of my tube tonight with LOTS (or so I thought) of oil in it - to "show off" lol

But guess what happened instead :ninja:

Acrylic stem...
-It never "clinks" against my teeth
-It is safer to drop
-Stays cooler on lips.
-It does not retain lip prints as easily

Nice box Vicki - I wish I had one! :)

However, I can always look at yours... and dream...

Does it taste, or act very different to you?

Have you (or will you) name it? :)

Thanks! My husband made the shorter stems for me out of longer acrylic stems. He just cut them with a pipe cutter and sanded them down. :)

Thank you. It is now my preferred MFLB. :D

I have two (one exotic, one regular wood), but I like this one much more. It looks and performs better too because it runs A LOT hotter than my regular wood MFLB. I have to be careful so I don't combust. With my regular wood MFLB, I can have the PA set at maximum, and it never gets overly hot, and I never get hot enough to combust. It doesn't feel like it's getting as hot as it could, but I am still able to vaporize. If I took the exotic to the max setting on the PA, I'd definitely combust if I were not really, really careful. The same is true for a fully charged battery. Now that I have another MFLB to compare, I'm beginning to think my regular box may be having heating issues. :(

I have two MFLB's now, and neither one has a name. I don't have any plans to give them names in the future. :)

Thanks guys for the input. Hmm, Vitolo, that link doesn't work...but I found it here.

I guess it's time to go get something oily and start rubbing up against my box. (bloomin 'ell that sounds wrong!) ... Ok, try again. Time to get some wax and start rubbing wood (erm, that ones not much better!) ... well you get the idea - me, my MFLB, a pot of wax, a cloth and a little bit of care and attention :)
From what I learned when I bought a wooden cutting board, plain old mineral oil is practically the same as the more expensive butcher board oils on the market. I have been using mineral oil on all my wooden objects including my MZ. I have not felt the need to oil my launch box as it does not spend that much time being hot, as does the MZ. But I suppose a little mineral oil wouldn't hurt.

I rec'd my Launch Box this afternoon. I was awash in anticipation waiting for the batteries to charge! It was well worth the wait. :D

This thing rips, and it so cool and functional without being overcomplicated. Very, very happy with my purchase! Only thing I haven't tried yet is the waterpipe adapter, I want to "deep clean" the ol' bong before giving it a go.

So glad I found this site and from there, the MFLB! :peace:

I use mine with my water pipe quite often and it works great. You just have to remember to draw very slowly and since the vapor will be soooo cool, you may think you aren't getting a good hit. Sometimes I have a hard time judging how big a hit I'm getting that way. Anyway, at least at first, exhale towards a bright light so you can see the vape you're getting.

I got my warranty replacement a couple days ago; hats off to MF's great service and quick shipping.

It's time to send my old, horribly damaged box back. There's a ton of resin-y/waxy buildup under the screen, and I tried getting it out with a paperclip and toothpick, but it's just waaaay too sticky. It just doesn't come out; it's practically glued on. I'd like to get some of it off so I could test it out, but also because I don't want to send it back with a lot of residue.

Any idea on how to get this stuff off, or does it not really matter?

Personally I would not risk sending ANY device with residue in the mail. It would be a Federal crime and those nutty Feds could put you in the pen with some very unsavory characters. Hell they put Tommy Chong in there just for selling water pipes. And he didn't even sell them. But that's another story...

Hey, that's an awesome idea! Thanks for posting this! I was looking for a good way to vape in public areas. I usually just sneak off to an area where no one is around. But I always feel so conspicuous when putting the thing up to my mouth in public, feeling as if for SURE some cop is going to see my suspicious behavior! (I've had this happen to me when sneaking a beer in a car. Not good.) So I can't wait to get one of these and try it. I don't usually eat this type of thing. Are these available at 7-11 or regular super markets or where?

Just came back from a trip on which I used my MFLB and must tell everyone that i went over 3 days with out my home units (EQ & HA).

I'm totally satisfied and never once during my trip did I crave a "full blown unit" or anything "more powerful" as I thought I would.

Duracell 2450 mah was also added to my collection for this trip since I need extra power to spend whole days at a theme park. The Duracell didn't hold such a strong charge over night but used within 12hrs gave great results!

You're absolutely right, in regards to the mineral oil. Give it a good wipe/down cleaning and oil away. Nothing wrong with it, in fact... quite the opposite. Though, I would use it sparingly. You don't want it soaking deep into the wood, you're just creating that initial barrier. While the waxes, would protect against scratches better... the oil lets the wood breathe better. The waxes, aren't bad... as long as they're higher quality... I just prefer oils.

Hope my vaked ramblings make sense. But, that's what I was taught while working with wood.

I corrected your image for overexposure and colour, which is why I concluded it might be koa. It could be something else of course, but I know Magic-Flight did a few koa boxes.

Yeah, be careful on the water pipe rips, they're DEFINITELY deceptive. My method, with my beaker-style (its about 10" - 11" tall), is as soon as the vapor reaches my lips, I let off the PA at that time, keep breathing in (notice: not sucking), until I notice the vapor is thinning out, at the knuckle, pull a bit harder to clear out the LB. Then I pull away the box, using it as a sort of a carb.

To update on my resin-coated box, I scrubbed the fuck out of it with 91% iso, scraped really hard and all that shit, and while it's a lot cleaner than it was, there's still really no way it'll ever be 100% free of residue. I even removed the screen so I could get at that part better. There's still a decent coating of brownish shit that is practically embedded in the wood, especially on the light thing and in the little crevices/corners.

Now I didn't think it was a huge deal; hell, MF just tells you to dump out any debris and send it back, but I see a lot of people strongly warning against sending it back with anything on it. I mean, if people send drugs through the mail off SR, I can't imagine there's a huge risk with just a little resin on the box.

Any ideas?
