Hey boss did not see this only way is to repair it here, and mind as well upgrade to the v4 top.

Please submit a ticket and our CS team will guide you rest of the way.

@THC SCIENTIFIC I just got an 8 from you guys. Hammer Top is kind of annoying to use for LAYG and I didn't want any downtime while I was waiting on the warranty repair. Will open a ticket and get that V3 sent back to you guys soon.

@SamuraiSam You were spot on with the convenience of the thread swap. Just took a few pulls off the Kiss Mini then when I was done swapped on my Aspire Atlantis with some pure VG to mellow things out.

Question on the 8. How do I get a second tube so I can go my typical lightsaber style like I do with my Persei (2x18650s + Herc + Nibb XL)?

Check with @SamuraiSam I know he is in WA and had "connections".;)

I live in Seattle but haven't really explored the 502 scene (prices scared me away) so don't know where you would find UP Tech products locally sorry.

unfortunately selling single tops is no longer going to be available after the hammer tops are finished.

Whoa there. Are you saying we won't be able to get our mitts on v4 tops ever unless it's a warranty issue or buy a whole new unit? You are going to be looking at a lot of suddenly non-functional v1-2-3 tops sent in to get an update.

In search of the best terps and smoothest vapor
I took my new Bender for a spin yesterday. Of course, the flavor was off the charts. But, I felt like vapor was a bit light, and I did not get as medicated as I should have for the size of the load. I'm looking to improve on future sessions. I read as many Bender posts as I could find through searching, but I'm still feeling unsure of how to improve. Here's what I tried:

Hammer top, Core set to 7.4 v, about 3/4 full in the bottom chamber with flower broken up by hand. I let it heat for about 1 minute, then starting hitting slow. I basically had the power going for the full 2 minutes before the hammer top shut off, then I clicked it on 2 more times. Got great flavor, but vapor was pretty wispy. I then stirred and repeated the above process 3 more times, stirring between each cycle.

I was thinking of trying a light grind next, and filling to the top. If anyone has any tips or sees something wrong with what I did, I would appreciate any feedback. The flavor alone will motivate me to work on refining my technique, but I'd love a little help making it through the learning curve.

We never had single tops for sale, only the hammer tops. With the next generation persei's now having the hammer top as part of the unit there is no need anymore.

The previous generation owners will eventually get theirs but only rough warranty.

I fine grind will produce monster hits. But not too fine that u suck it into your mouth. The bender is a manual machine. The more you use it, the better it gets. It is a session device. For me usually under 40 seconds I start getting thick vapor. You have to learn to play that button. You will combust a few times learning this beast, but this will help you learn the limits. For sure puffing on the bender to get air moving thru the herb is the key. Learn to puff like a cigar while you play with the button like a on/off switch.

Sharp draws to move air through the herb once the conduction from the hot glass has started helps me. Sharp cigar type puffs stacked on top of each other in quick succession give me denser vapor with the Bender. I can take a lungful like this, hold it for just a second, exhale over my tongue... really rich, tasty stuff.

Fill material on the moist side seems to work really well, and releases lots of aromatics with a big safety window before any chance of combustion occurs. A nice fluffy grind from my Santa Cruz also produces fill that is slightly easier to keep from combusting than some of the other denser grinds I've tried in the past. A lot of it is technique, it takes many sessions to find good draw techniques and power application methods that give max vapor while not combusting.

OK, I got a Hammer Top and I love it. The on/off toggle is such a nice feature, it has earned a permanent spot on top of my Core.

It also came with the Hammer Rod.

My question for you fine folks who have the Hammer Rod is this: What do I do with it? I am unclear on its applications and I can find no instruction set or even any videos of anyone employing the Hammer Rod.

Any suggestions, guidance or insight will be most appreciated!!

It is used in The Bender Herb Chamber. Some also use it to Vape (smoke)a bowl (stir packed bowl with hot rod). It can also be used for dabbing, although I did not find that method ideal.

I don't have a bender or a hammer top or a core (I'm a Persei/ "7.4v" SR71 man) but I just had to comment on this :).

Why not try raising the voltage to get more power? Freshly charged batteries read about 4.2v each and I know with my Hercules that the AW IMR batteries hold their voltage very well while delivering lots of current(amps). When my voltage falls to 7.4v (after a day of vaping) I notice the performance drop and pop the batteries into my charger. Why not set the Core to 8.4v so it can supply the power that a freshly charged set of batteries would?

So unfortunately I'm already starting to experience a bit of an issue with the 8. I was using it all evening last night and about half way through I just started getting really wispy hits. Tried different carts and different batteries to no avail. Should I assume I am running into a problem with the button assembly? Wiggling the button while really smashing it seems to help but I can't get consistent hits anymore.

Also still have the same question wrt stacking batteries for 7.4v Herc operation. How can I order another tube for running 2x18650s?

Thanks for the help!

Have you read the instructions and/or watched the video on assembly, and attempted to adjust your 8? It is a totally user serviceable mod than can be completely disassembled and rebuilt with only a flathead screwdriver.

1. ensure the white PTFE discs are seated correctly, and that the pins are seated in the discs.
2. ensure the top post is making contact
3. Adjust the contact screw behind the button. Takes a small flathead screwdriver to do it. Screw it all the way in, then back it out 1/8th turn at a time (22.5 degrees) until things work perfectly. I personally notice a bit of deflection on the pins when the contact screw is too far in. Backing out about 3/8th turn total is perfect for me but different 8s will require different adjustments.

I adjusted my 8 last about a month ago and it has been working great for me since then with no fooling around. I have disassembled it to demonstrate a few times, but have not adjusted the contact screw (pulled the pins and discs out several times and everything works perfect upon reassembly).

sometimes i like to slightly vary the pressure im holding my 8 button down with and watch the coil glow more or less out of boredom when its slow at work.

keeps it clean of nasty burnt tastes too

I have not touched anything yet which is why I was a little surprised. I literally unboxed it and fired it up with no problems. Then a few hours later it seemed to no longer be working well. I can definitely tear it down and rebuild it to try and fix things. This wasn't a matter of improper reassembly though I did nothing but use it and in a few hours this occured.

If you think this is normal then I will proceed with the adjustment steps you describe.

Would you guys say the hammer rod works better for vaping bud than dabbing oil? Because I think it works only ok for dabbing.

Plus properly adjusted at the factory doesn't take into account the many different carts we have. Each cart might need different center pin adjustment

Now you've gone and made me sad on the eve of spring break. I guess I was thinking that once the new tops were ready you would do some sort of upgrade offer for existing customers. I get that you don't want to have them available as a separate item all the time for a bunch of good reasons. But you have to understand that these Persei are built like F'ing tanks, it could be years before one of mine fails and I want the new one now.
