Ed, your Lily stem looks great. I'm sure you will get it fine-tuned, if it isn't already, and I'm sure it will make a nice difference for Lily users. I don't think I'll keep my Lily as I don't think she could compete with Daisy for me, even with a cooler, longer air path.

I've been an admirer of your work for some time. One day I'll keep a vape that will take one of your awesome accessories.

Would love a Blackwood Daisy one day if we could get Tommy to let you make one for a commission or something. Been thinking about some Aussie timber as well. Do you have experience with any?

Hello and good morning everyone, spring break has been a wet one down here this year and not nearly what we were hoping for. All is good though we are still hanging out having fun just spending time together. One thing is certain the sun will come out and the ground will dry up and we will be ready! I had seen some growth in Major but had no idea how much weight he had put on but damn, I took him for his 12 week shots at the vet and he is always getting attention, he is just such a magnet for peoples looks question and smiles. OK so you all may remember when I took him there a day after he was 8 weeks old for his healthy pup check up, at that time he weighed 21lbs. well when they picked him up to do so he was at a whopping 37Lbs. I couldnt believe he had damn near doubled his weight it 4 weeks and is still doesnt look to me to be that large, I do got to get you all some pics, I tried yesterday but he would stay put long enough for the camera to focus so all the pics were blurry. He had gotten wet and muddy and was a mess but he was a nice mess that put a grin on my face. When he gets wet he tends to darken in color and looks so wild. I will get some shots soon. I hope you all have been doing well, been quite a bit of traffic here the last few days, gotta address these posts and get my butt in gear around the house, have clothes to fold and a nap I am hoping to fit in this afternoon.

@Bvapst First to address is you my man, as for in the pic of the 2 piece lily stem set yes the inner larger stem does have the same ID as the glass does, it has a really thick wall and I got to thinking yeah that thick wall is great for strength but it doesnt have to be that damn thick so could be larger ID which may or may not help the draw of it, have been spinning different ideas in my head while trying to get other stuff done thinking or how to tweak and modify it in the next attempt. Hang in there with my man. I am up for a project here and there also if you like, out together some info and such and we will discuss it as soon as we can. Thanks for thinking of me and my work!

@stickstones Right on thanks for you the post and for the kind words I appreciate you and them always. Still got a lot to do with the lily so stay tuned, hell I gotta get the vapman stuff available before I get a line of FC'ers ready to kick my ass for not doing so yet.

@NickDlow Oh my, that is the most amazing log vape collection I have ever seen amassed by anyone ever! Thats a hella picture and what amazing pieces, I thank you for all the work you have let me do for you and for showing off what I am able to do, you are very much appreciated!

@Melting Pot I been thinking about ya and how you are doing, you have been on my mind as I told you you would be. Thanks for your kind words also!

@little maggie Hello and how have you been! We havent really been able to do much, guess the indians did a dance round here near by, its so wet outside, too much water in the lakes and ponds, fish wont bite, just sucks that it was this week and not another. We are all doing well and enjoying hanging out. You know you'll get one when I can ever get em done, I am telling so many people to hang in there. You all are going to get so tired of hearing that that at the end of the line of FC'ers that wanna just kick my ass that guy with have a rope to hang me!

@Reflections Thanks so much, I hope you have been doing well up that way. Ill get some pics of Major next week hopefully when the sun breaks through the clouds here sooner or later.

@LazyIdol Hello my man, got ya that PM back earlier, just wish I would have or had thought of that option for you back then, could have saved you some disappointment from hearing the news from me and damn sure saved me some time. Holla back after you get the PM and let me know your thoughts .

@NickDlow Is so right the bushings I used for the UD earlier went around the heat port that allowed for larger loads and all work great with heavy solid straight grain wood but the buckeye is so soft it just couldnt handle the pressure when the pin has to be install, after all it is what it and will be!

@GeneralPrinciple Thanks for the post, all I can say is stop by for an update or post up your question, Ill do my best to get you right soon my man!

@KidFated. Spun your piece earlier, should be in route Monday, keep an eye out my man and let me know your thoughts.

@FlyingLow I am nothing more than cheap wine that always gets better after the first bottle!

@Tom Funk Thanks for stopping by and also the kind words, all this talk about this and that got me feel like I done done something! Ah rather what I havent, I can never get comfy and feel good about anything cause I am always feeling like hell for what I didnt do. The best I do is try to give my all for as long as I can til I cant no more. I think I am gonna run some ads round these parts and see what kinda turners are hiding in the hills and woods round these parts. Not being able to produce and tell you all I am going to get to it is really bothering me and not a cool thing to continue doing. Hopefully by the time you are ready for something I will be in better shape. Thanks again!

@rakka You made a good find there, thats a fine piece and would love to do you one, thanks for thinking of me and yes send me a PM and we will go from there.

Ok so now a little power nap is in order!

Good morning everyone, my boys and I shot skeet yesterday afternoon for a little fun. My 11 year old thats all about shooting skeet has gotten rusty in a short period of time, he shot a box of shells and only got 4, he just waits to long to shoot is all. We had some good times these last few days and are so looking forward to dryer weather. We are excited about the parade next week and cant wait to catch some beads! Got some pics of Major as well, I cant believe how big he is for 12 weeks old. Really like the way his fur is getting curly and dark down his lower back. He is such a good dog!

Made the Vapman long draw stems also and have them ready at my shopping cart, I havent posted them to my website just yet, one thing at a time, so be sure to click the link below. They are right at the length of the LB stems I make but have one end tapered so they fit nice and snug with the significantly larger draw hole for increased airflow and less restriction.

I am taking the Vapman 14mm MP/Wong back to redesign, I am rethinking how it fits into the middle section and feel I can do better than I have, thing is though the small end that fits into the lower portion is so short and the way I have made it to fit at basically the overall OD of the middle section makes the angle so hard to work with my chisel in order to taper it. I have tried holding my skew in so many different ways trying to make it happen with the original design that it wont allow me to do what I want to do. Oh its sucks too, I have trashed several nice pieces of Cocobolo in my efforts. So thats what I am going to bee working on this week.

@beware116 Thanks for the post, I appreciate the work and the kind words!

@steama Thanks for what you do my man, a little excitement never hurt anyone, unless those hornets caught up with you. I remember being a kid and throwing rocks at a hornets nest then run like hell! I have only been stung by one in my life and it was by far the worst sting I have ever had and one I will never forget, felt like I had been shot by a .22! Thanks again bro!

@little maggie Nice Cocobolo Haze stem you have there, our guy had a little oversell issue but not to worry all is good and if you are happy I am happy and so is he! Thanks for posting the pics, I hope you are really enjoying the pieces and wish you many good times with em.

I love eds work. I once asked him to make me some special customized sized wooded bowls and he did an absolute wonderful job on the pieces which most were given out as tokens of appreciation to some neat friends. They are not often used as they are considered more works of art with the beauty of the wood.

I wholly recommend Ed.

Hello and good morning everyone! Got down and dirty yesterday in the shop and I do mean dirty! I had been putting off cleaning it up just cause I had been so busy, I had wood shaving and dust several inches deep on the floor, counters were hella dusty, dust collection bag was full, hell the walls were and are somewhat still dusty. I emptied a few large garbage cans full of saw dust in the mulch pile. Had to wash off under the outside hose before I could even go inside for a shower! Was pretty tough in there but now at least I can see the floor again. Its coming into spring down here was in the 80's yesterday and summer will be here in no time at all.

@KidFated. Yes sir Major is putting on some weight and is becoming quite a dog, he is the best! So my 11 year old is not the only rusty one out there huh! We are gonna work his shooting some more this week and as much as we can this year so when season opens he will be on the money.

@Beezleb How bout it my good man, been some time, I hope all is well for you. Yes those were some nice pieces I did quite a while back, some beauties for sure and I thank you for letting me do that for you. I appreciate your efforts and thank you for doing what you did. You are a solid guy and I'd be happy to do anything else for you whenever you would like. I wish you well and all the best!

Hello and good morning, all is well my way, could be drier but hey it is what it is so we do the best we can! The day yesterday started out a wet one and just rained and rained all day long and is still raining even now. We still dressed for the parade and had our green on except for my oldest, he for some reason didnt have a green shirt, hmmm guess we could have found something else but when I told him you better watch out all those girls are gonna be pinching your butt he got this little grin on his face and said itll be ok dad! He is almost 14 so think I know what he was thinking! We had to drive about an hour to get there, the closer we got the more it rained, til I was like boys maybe the parade just isnt a great idea today. Two of the boys had had a cold earlier in the week and I really didnt want them to be out in the cold wet rain standing for a couple hours. I had looked at what was going on around the city for kids and had a backup plan for just in case. The Natural science museum had a new dinosaur exhibit and who doesnt like looking at alligators! So off to the museum we went, we checked out all the great stuff, walked around for a couple hours, and most importantly stayed dry! Then we were off to red lobster, my 11 year old has been wanting to try lobster for a while and my youngest loves the super rich chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream. Had a great late lunch drove home, got a payperview and called it a night! What a day we had and what a great way to spend it, not a cross word was said, not a punch thrown, my boys were great and I am blessed!

@Reflections Hello and good morning, yes yes yes, you are right but oh so many people are upset and emailing me everyday, why are your dugouts out of stock, why havent you made any yet, pls start back making dugouts! I really hate it, I dont have enough time to make everything and it sucks. I started my biz making dugouts and were for such a long time the bread and butter of the biz but take a little more time to make with all the steps of production and will always be a major tool in alot of peoples pockets. Maybe one day ill get a week or two of down time and get some made, I do have a couple trays somewhat put together about half way done. Major is freaking loving it, he has been all over lately, the rain hasnt slowed him down a bit. He seems just as happy if its wet and dreary, guess this hot southern weather and that thick curly coat can make you happy for these kinda days. Thanks for stopping by!

@beach bum I too have so been enjoying the pics, thanks! Nah Major isnt fetching beers yet but he is fetching, not quite as hard core and determined as my black lab I had. He has a way about him that is kinda like cool and calm not in so much of a hurry and just happy go lucky. I hope all is well and wish yall the best!

@KidFated. Thats a beautiful set you have there my man, really like how the stem has a brown streak in it as does the vape, looks like the two are a perfect fit! I hope you are enjoying them and thank you for posting the pic! Aint it a trip, thats wood, say what???

@Philreal187 Wow those pieces look stunning! I am really glad you are happy and I thank you for the work! Thats the thing with Buckeye I have learned after a few years of buying it and working it, that its so hard to know whats within the blank itself. @Snappo has a great eye for wood a great eye, sometimes these voids or inclusions work well for some applications and others not so well. I once bought a slab of BE that was 40" across x 2" thick, my dealer told me that if I was lucky enough to get 30% of the slab to work then I had done good. He told me that alot of the burls that come from BE come from below the ground in the stump and root of the tree and dont be surprised if I hit pockets of dirt, sand, or even rocks. Not sure if I got 30% or not but I learned a valuable lesson. I was just happy I could do what I did. Thanks for posting up bro!

@Melting Pot Good morning my man, hope your weekend went better than the week and you are sitting at home reading this! You hit the nail on the head, treasures for sure. Mother Nature is capable of anything. The longer piece is a trip, the wild mix of colors is out of sight! You are still on my mind and in my heart, I wish you better days, I do!

@NickDlow @Philreal187 pieces came from the same slab I got yours from!

Well I am off to the shop for a couple hours before the boys wake up and start looking for something to eat! Hope you all have a great day and wish you all the best!

I'd also like to add that our beloved Buckeye Burls can also have voids in them that have been known to house rattle snakes & other small critters. I do have an order in for 5 big beautiful log blanks due in a few weeks, and also have many more stem/wong blanks for Ed's masterworks (100% guaranteed of course if a problem with a void occurs;)).

On another observation - Ed! You have a great talent for writing ...so expressive and filled with life & interest - I'd love to see you write a book, and even for magazines and newspapers. I know you probably don't have the time right now with all you have going on ...but keep the idea under your hat and let it boil for awhile. I look forward to reading your adventurous novel with the boys and Major and adding to my collection!
