Quick question to those who have tried or own a Crafty.

I'm considering buying a crafty and currently own the solo. Is there enough difference in vapor quality to justify the purchase? I'm looking for over all taste, no harsh/warm vapor, and draw resistance.

How do the two compare?

Why do you use a medium grind opposed to a fine grind? I ask because with my FM I find that I get more vapor density when I grind the herb with my fingers. I recently bought a mini Santa Cruz Shredder because I read the mini SCS grinds the finest and the FM vapes differently when I grind with SCS. I get less hits.

Does the solo work best with a medium grind?

Both my Solo and my FM V5.0 work best with an unpacked medium (to coarse) grind. Currently using a Zeus Bolt Grinder or my old Chrome Crusher knock-off...

with the Vortex stem I heat it up to level 6 and after it heats up I turn it down to 5 then finish my meds off at 6 the last minute or 2.

I found some GDP too @ataxian in the bottom of my C Vault that must be from last August. Wow very potent and perfect tonight in the Solo along with the Vortex stem.

I am interested in getting flexible tubing for the Solo. To use with a wooden mouthpiece similier to a set up I saw on @Ed's TnT . I copied this from Eds thread.

Before all this happen we were talking about the EQ and how we enjoyed it and liked using the whip, the more we talked about it, we looked over at the solo and asked each other, why cant you use the solo with a whip? We thought about it for a minute and started digging for some blanks. Found some nice Costa Rican Bocote and I turned the solo whip adapter and he turned the mouthpiece. We loaded the bowl, let it heat, and pulled some substantial rips from the whip!

@CarolKing I`ve seen lot`s of silicone tubing (food grade as well) on EBay and I`ve purchased latex tubing for a project there as well.
I use about 3" of that with a pyrex globe style mouthpiece with my Solo but I`m thinking the silicone would be the way to go for a whip...

That will be the best money that you ever spend, welcome aboard. I agree every household should own at least 1 Solo preferably 2.

I have 2 of the 2014 models and 1 that is the pre updated model that cannot be used and charged at the same time. They all continue to work great. I had only intended on having 2 but bought one for $55 through Puffitup under "Last Call."

The Solo is my fav vaporizer.
Trying out some Chocolate Kush, I hadn't ever seen it before in my area. The lineage is Chocolope and Kosher Kush.

@happyvapeman Thanks for the info about the tubing. Is it real flexible and not stiff?

That's endearing because the enano is something I've wanted longer than a solo yet felt the portability was needed in my new living situation

I'll likely get a 2nd if it gets used as much as i want it to @CarolKing

Its ok if you dont get a desktop. The Solo is like a desktop's hyper little brother that cannot be tethered to one place. The Solo is a power house for its size and price. You seriously cannot go wrong with getting a Solo. Its like drinking a glass of water, how could that ever be a mistake? Welcome to the club!

Really not a lot to it. Mainly 4 ea of a proper fitting washers which go under the screws to even out the hold down pressure. This makes the screws protrude from the bottom so we cover them with some felt. The instruction sheet.
BTW, Arizer generally will not fix under warranty as does not effect the performance. At least that was their take last I heard.
I have not generally been selling by themselves because of the low value and can be obtained from local hardware stores. But if your really in a pickle, we can do something.

I knew of the screws/felt mod. I was hoping for an actual (aftermarket) spare part.

Don't hold your breath. Not only is the entire Solo built onto that chassis but it carries the serial number. Serial numbers are a strange thing, with a few obvious exceptions (firearms and motor vehicles for instance) there is no requirement by law. You'll find some vapes (like Solo or MFLB) that have them while others (like say Cera or Vapman) do not. It's the maker's call.

Now, for the fun part: While there's no requirement to have it there, once the maker puts it on, it's a crime to remove it. Even if you own it outright. It (a removed S/N) is 'prima facie' (legal talk for 'at first look', or 'on the face of it') evidence the item is stolen. This is why the MFLBs with sanded off S/Ns on Ebay a while back were contraband. No matter what the legal status of ownership. IMO Arizer would never sell you that part for that reason alone, nor would any aftermarket maker want to get near it. The burden of proof in this case (removed S/N) goes to the guy who has it, you could expect very serious trouble if you met the wrong cop under the wrong conditions. Neither Arizer or an aftermarket maker would want that exposure if their lawyers are up to snuff.

Or so it was explained to me.

Silicone can be fairly stiff so getting you ID/OD sizes right for what you`re connecting to can be important. The thicker it is the harder it will be to stretch (if you need to)...
I was thinking about the EQ whip. It looked lighter weight. I was asking @Ed's TnT about it tipping over because the Solo is small. He isn't doing the stands any longer. He wasn't happy with them. Ed wants them to be up to snuff if it has his logo on it. So we're putting our heads together and thinking about what would be the best approach. Of course I don't know much about it. I originally saw the whip idea with the Enano, they are small and light weight too though. I thought the blood wood would look awesome.

I love the look of @Ed's TnT stand for the whip setup...hopefully he`ll get one done that he`s happy with.
I`m thinking @CarolKing that if you use a fairly light guage of Silicone tubing that you could attach a 3' length of that and hold the solo in one hand and the tube mouthpiece in the other.
When not in use just keep the tubing coiled and it should be ok...

I add about 3" of length to my stems by attaching a short length of latex tubing and an epen type globe mouthpiece. Makes the draw a little easier and a little cooler as well...no problems with Solo tipping over with that...might be fun to add a whip though if there is one out there that`ll fit...

This might work:

Sorry to ask this here but I need some visibility. I have an Arizer Solo M1F1 and I am wondering which size o-rings I should get off planetvape. The cap for my solo weighs 18.5 grams, while the cap for my friend's Solo, which is an M1E1, weighs 18. I'm guessing I should get the thin size, am I correct?

Thanks :D

Yes, this has be extensively discussed, maybe a dozen times? The newer caps tend to be thicker:
nm3vf41.jpg

And therefore need a thinner ring. PV and others sell them. Size 'No. 015' seems to be a good fit in mine, I suspect what's sold? Be sure to stick to high temperature Silicone, usually colored red. You can also sand a too thick ring down (stick it to duct tape to hang onto it), but as you can see you have to grind off a lot to fit. Don't leave any tension on the cap against the ring, you're not supposed to be clamping it to 'make it tighter', only keep it from rotating. Doing otherwise (compressing the ring) will likely break the plastic tabs at the bottom holding the cover on.

Yes, that's true. It's no hotter than the cup anywhere herb can touch deeper down. All it can do is char.

If it actually did combust it would basically be gone long ago, nothing but a tiny bit of ash left over? Still, lots of guys 'know for sure' that combustion is going on. Happens with other vapes, too. The whole idea with regulating temperature to say 390F is so it doesn't get to 450F plus for combustion.

@Lonely Stoners Here is the most recent discussion about the cap issue. It's been talked about a lot.

IMO, the whip tubing has to be more flexible than the PVC tubing. As I said in the post below, very easy to get and use medical grade tubing for oxygen and gasses. Not sure if silicon or rubber but very flexible. just can't go too thin walled or it will collapse under your inhale. Will likely have to ask to see the sizes. 3/8" rings a bell, but they have different wall thicknesses too. If they ask what you want it for, just say the truth, that it for your vaporizer set up. Funny to watch them pretend they know what your talking about and ask the size anyway...
First off, welcome to the fun.
That is just normal clear piping. You would find it very rigid with little give to flex over anything. I suppose it would be safe enough if away from the oven heat but not really for what is needed.
I know the proper high temperature is a little dear to buy specially with shipping. What you can do is go to your local medical supply outlet, usually located close to a major pharmacy, (where they sell/rent wheel chairs, medical aids etc.) and ask for their silicon tubing. Not always on display but can get it. It is the yellowish looking stuff. Not a really high temp rating but much better than the plumbing tubing and is very flexible. Comes in a couple sizes. 1/2" ID is good.
Good luck and most of all, have fun!

Now that sure looks like the high temp stuff. I do not see a rating though. Pretty expensive once you populate the fields for the correct size which indicates the "good stuff". You could contact the seller and ask.?

@Pipes Are you talking about using surgical latex tubing (the amber colored one)?
