i like my mendo :)
my mendo rips it up real fast, the stickier the bud
it might take a little longer but it makes short work of anything i have put in it
it is also a kief machine  :brow:
i'm amazed :o what amount it will yield from just puttin a half oz thru it.
i got a small paint brush to clean it out with thats about the only downfall
with it.. that o ring could be smaller after that
i'm very happy with mine :)

Quick update on MNB. Received an email from Dan while we were out of town. (btw, that was the first communication from MNB since March 27.) He asked if I had received the press, this was after he said I should have it by March 30.

Not sure what is really going on with these guys. I'm sure songa is right, if I wait LONG enough I will eventually get what I paid for. I'll give Dan a couple more days and if nothing shows up I told him to cancel the order and refund my money.

I do like MNB products, but have decided it would be best to purchase from a reseller and not directly from MNB. I assume Dan is a nice guy, but he doesn't seem to have a handle on when or how his products are shipped. Hopefully with a good reseller I'll get better service. I'll post more info when I learn more.

Thanks for the update. I'll try dropping him another email as well to see what is up with my order. I fully agree with you in that if you want a MnB, buy from a reseller.

In the meantime, the 4pc CC I ordered is working well. I'm not a big kief collector like most of you, so I turned it into a 3pc by removing the screen, and it has been fantastic for me so far. My one gripe about it is that it seems it went straight from the CNC mill to the coating process. It would be nice if they gave it a quick tumble to de-burr it before coating so there weren't so machining flakes I had to pick off. But, for the price, it is actually better than I expected.

A headshop may have stock. I doubt you'd save any $. As for on-line resellers, Vaporstore seems to be the only one with a selection and decent prices.

yea, dan does not seem to have good communication with his shipper, which i believe is located in CA somewhere. probably cuz hes so far away. also since hes not actually the one handling your order, that would explain why my grinder came with the threads upgrade already installed, even though i didnt even order it. i thought that was funny cuz i only bought the grinder to try out the magnetic bottom, haha such questionable business practice man hahaha

hi,

i'd like to know what most of your prefer: sprinkle the kief each time you grind, or save a mix of every strain until you've got a much larger quantity to make a decent piece of hash.

i am curious to know how these compare: single blend hash vs. a mix of every strain you've smoked for a week (or whatever).

thanks a lot.

Neither. I save up my kief from various strains and use it whenever I want to kick it up a notch or two.

I don't do it every time, and I've never made hash out of it.

I made some hash just last week from kief I had saved up. It was the first time I had ever tried it and it came out really nice. Took it on a trip with some friends as a surprise. Boy, were they pleasantly surprised when I pulled that out. Everyone wanted to know where I got it and couldn't believe that I "made" it.

I'm a real hash lover, so you may want to just use a little kief when you feel like it. Either way, you won't be sorry. I've already started to save up my kief for my next gram of hash.

Read through most of this thread since I'm looking to purchase a grinder. Skimmed some of it. I've narrowed my choices down to these:

The Classic Screen Mix 'N' Ball - but the recent lull in shipping may steer me away or go for a reseller
http://www.mixnball.com/shop/classic-screen-v-3.html

Kannastr 4 Piece - Haven't heard much about them, but I'm very intrigued by their design. Would love to test one out. If anyone has any information about them I'd be grateful.
http://www.jetpackmule.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=55&products_id=370

Cosmic 2.75" 4 Piece - I've heard only great things about the Cosmic, but the vendor seems iffy. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, the price is unbelievable, I'm not too sure what they mean by "mini 4 piece" and "space case technology."
http://cgi.ebay.com/Cosmic-2-75-Tri...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50

The Space Case titaniums look amazing, but I'm not too sure if I'm willing to spend that much :p

If anyone has any insight on these I'd really appreciate it.

I have only used the MNB Classic grinder, so can't help with the others listed. MNB makes a good grinder and their prices have been good. Noticed that their newest model has gone up considerably in price. I think I paid just under $30 for mine from headshopamerica.com.

Based upon my last experience with Mix N Ball, I would recommend purchasing their grinders through a reseller. It took 3 days to get mine from headshopamerica.

Hopefully others can help with info on the remaining grinders.

IF you want a MixNBall, drop me an email and I'll sell you my used one. I don't have a ton of praise for them. It grinds, does the job, and collects kief. Good build quality too, but it just wasn't my thing in the long run... I went through a reseller.

Not so sure about the Kannastor. Originally misread it as another grinder model.... I guess you can replace the screens in them, which is really the only advantage they seem to offer. Untested waters, you might say...

That leaves the Cosmic. I have a close friend who bought one from a local Headshop. They can be found online. Unless your really after the 'mini', I might pick up the bigger ones at not much more...

You can scope some pics of the Cosmic here....

It's tough finding the right grinder, but it's really only as hard as you make it.

Hi! I was a long time combustor but now I vape.
I got myself an Iinhale and a Purple-Days, and I'm very happy with both. (Thank you fuckcombustion.com!)
Now, I'm torn between getting a Mendo Mulcher or Space Case grinder to prepare my bud--mainly for my workhorse pd. I'd also like to grind up leaf just to get keif.
Any suggestions as to which make and or size to purchase? It will be my first grinder.

Welcome rayski. Couple of good vape choices there.

I've bought the 3" Mendo and the medium 4 pc. SC, and frankly, neither is a good choice for PD grinding IMO.

The Mendo has the typical hole size (5mm I think) and many of them. Also, don't know if the design has been changed since last year, but mine has an o-ring/grommet in the collection area where kief and fine ground herb can hide. It does do a great job of shredding though.

The medium Space Case has 6mm holes and like the Mendo, many of them. The small SC is not much better-5mm. The best SC for a fine grind is the 4 pc. Scout. It's small capacity (1.25" diameter x 1.5" tall), but the 3mm holes are the smallest you'll find and rare on a grinder. Another option is a 2 piece grinder. It'll give you a fine grind at a good price (2" SC 2 pc. for about $20) and you can use a pollen/sifter box for kief, or just buy some screen material that suits you from a hardware store and make your own kief sifter.

If you decide to get a Space Case, FC members get the best price anywhere - http://gratefulbuys.com with 213kush as a coupon code - 15% off.

rayski, my expensive 4c titanium SpaceCase has been relegated to kief collection. I use a shot glass and a good pair of stainless scissors. After I cut up my bud to the correct consistency, I pour it into the grinder for a bit of kief collecting. A waste of a great grinder, but I find that a scissors and a shot glass gives me more of a consistent grind at the correct "fineness" than the grinder could provide.

Another thing is when I used to grind up the bud, there would be some stickiness and smell in the upper parts of the grinder. There is NO stickiness or smell on the blades of the scissors. Now I don't know the mechanics of what causes this, but it sure as hell seems that I loose less trichs on the scissors than the grinder teeth.

right, it's not a big deal to me. I grind using my cheap 4 piece ebay knockoff then give it a good snipping all around with mustache scissors. sort of like going for a haircut - a few stages in the go round, but in our case just takes a few extra seconds prior to PD oblivion.

but for EATING spent remains (which i consider a must) i run it through the electric coffee bean grinder so it's powder then squish it into a cookie mix with some added liquid lecithin, put in toaster oven at 375 until it begins to smoke (about 15 minures or so) then whala.... extra special bonus.

i ordered a classic screen mix'n'ball on the first. at the beginning of this week i emailed them to ask when it would ship and got a reply that it was out of stock. their website still has it listed as 'in stock' on the order page, though it does show up as backordered once you place it in your cart (if you pay attention, which i didn't).

i've been emailing one of the sales reps all week, and can't get an answer on when that one will be back in stock. i was offered a discounted upgrade, which i accepted only to be told that they can't get in touch with their shipper. yesterday my email was ignored, so i'm going to give them a call today and see what's up. if they can't ship _something_ today, i'm going to get a refund and look elsewhere.

i'm sure it's a good product, but come on folks - if you are going to have an online store, get yourselves together and provide good customer service.

Who were you ordering from? Was it a reseller or Mixnball.com?

Just wondering. I ordered from Mixnball.com and had the same problem. After 45 days I gave up and cancelled my order. Requested a refund and finally had to put the charge on my credit card in dispute. To bad. They do make a good grinder, just ended up ordering from a reseller.

Good luck.

i ordered directly from mixnball. dan is no longer responding to emails and i've filed a dispute with paypal as of today, as i told him i would if he couldn't ship or respond last week. sad.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds very similar to my experience with MNB. Once you get the charge cleared up you can buy MNB grinders from online retailers. Like the product, just got tired of no customer service from MNB. Not sure what has happened at MNB. My first purchase from Dan was perfect, but the second time was a disaster. Good luck.

Vaporstore is a good choice for a MixnBall buy. 'vapormovement' coupon for a discount and you know whether they're in stock or not.

Got a little Mix'n'Ball Nano, fun little (operative word) grinder. Most than likely way to small for most, and really more of a novelty than a day in day out functional grinder, but it is a great size for grinding up a small pinch and sucking straight into a wand. My only wish for it would be for a magnet closure, but for the price its quite nice.

Thanks Max! A 2pc SC from Greatfulbuys is on the way. I'm a little surprised that such an exceptional product doesn't come with an exceptional warranty. The 2yr warranty(according to GotVape-- no mention of warranty at Greatfulbuys that I can see) doesn't stand up to the Mendo Muncher's lifetime warranty. But, if it lasts me a lifetime, who cares?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy a shaker box(7"x4") from Exotic Zombie to collect some kief. IT comes with a 100 mesh stainless steel screen; I can get one with a glass cover for $45.
Is there any reason why this wouldn't be a good idea?

I purchased a lovely heavy duty metal grinder with kiff tray about a year ago. It was a great piece of kit until an idiot friend of mine took a knife to it when supplies were running low and scratched the living hell out of it trying to get every last bit of herb out.

I was not best pleased.

EDIT: I believe it was Black Leaf brand. I'd recommend it as a great choice for a grinder assuming you don't have a big fat git living on your sofa who breaks your stuff when you're not looking. *sulk*
