I wouldnt worry about it. I bought a used unit that had alot of build up in the valve and on top of the unit. I opened it up and there wasnt much inside

Interesting. Cant say my experience has been the same. I will test more with the cano vs nano and get back here. Maybe its just preference between vape signatures. Dont get me wrong I love the cano but think the nano does the job on much less herb. Effect is different thats forsure. More testing :science:

This is just my admittedly limited experience with the vapes out there in general. The main reason logs attract me, is because the tiny amount you can load.

The volcano can be a bit of a hog no doubt, but the amount of vapour and its density from a load is intense IMO.

I also finish an entire oven in one session spilt between 2 of us, so it's also possible that I'm just consuming a lot more vapour using less effort than my other vapes.

I am noticing the dial on my classic is no longer turning smoothly between 6-9, but between 1-6 the dial turns smoothly like new. I'm thinking his must be because I only ever use the dial between 6-9, so it may be wearing down.

Is this something I can fix? I heard the dials can be removed and placed back on...I wonder if it needs some lubricant or something.

*i can hear a screeching metal sound when I turn the dial. I may just have to keep the classic on 6.5 all the time, and cook with the rest...
Use canned air for keyboard cleaning.
unplug unit.... and aim the jet with the red straw directly behind the knob..
While blowing forced air, turn knob to both extremities once or twice.
You may feel smooth movement...
I think either dust settled or oxidation occurred where the dial was not used.
The air may free it up.
There is a spray made for this purpose that lubricates the volume wheel of a hearing aid while cleaning it's contacts.
The attenuation dial on your Volcano is similar.
The product can be seen at http://www.halhen.com/cgi-bin/info.cgi?id=1056&ls=sw~contact re nu
There is a preferred one that does not lubricate.
It is my preferred spray.
It is at http://www.halhen.com/cgi-bin/info.cgi?id=2252

Thanks.

What's strange is that my dial is hard to turn where I do frequently use it, so I'm not sure if dust would make sense. In other words, the only part that is smooth is the area that wasn't really ever used (1-5).

How would the dial part oxidize to cause this? Strange...

I'm not too worried because I was going to start only hitting on 6.5 (my fav setting), and never going past 6.5, so that my ABV brownies are potent enough for my liking.

The Volcano has landed!!
6.5 on the dial, load just covers the screen, oil pad!
Easy valve is going to take some practise so as not to lose vapour!

2 bags and i am done...
Blasted off into another awesome vape signature!!
I can see we are going to be good friends!!!

The vapour from this thing is sublime!!

EDIT:
Okay, more normal now, afterburners are winding down finally!
First bag was pretty weak, forgot about the wait till you see vapour before placing the bag on!
Second bag was perfect!!
Flavour, taste and effect are very strong, vape sig most likely.
If every session is like this, i am in Nirvana!!

Afterburners re-engaged somehow...

Easy Valve advice to prevent vapor loss: Turn fan off when the bag is around 95% full to prevent blowback leakage (vapor and ABV). Remove the bag first, then remove the chamber from the unit. Enjoy.

+ make sure your chamber is screwed tight after each fill. My volcano likes to unscrew the chamber when I'm not looking and shoot ABV everywhere.

Thanks for that tip!
I guess i need to hold the chamber down and then remove the bag with the other hand.
Trying to do it single handed results in the whole thing coming off...LOL!

My volcano should be arriving on Monday!!! Traded for my EVO!

Any tips for getting that perfect bag?
I ordered an easy valve kit for it.

This thread is soooooooo quiet! Hopefully I will be here often enough to keep it alive!

Watched a few videos already and will finish this thread on the weekend! First few pages really have no user info...

Saw a video of it connected directly to a bubbler! Looks like I will be having fun soon!!!

I traded my evo for the volcano as well, had some regrets during the start but I love the volcano so much. Its just so easy to use and nice for multiple people. If the vapor is ever too dry I just put the mouthpiece up to my water pipe and use that. Youre going to love the cano!

After 5-6 bags, when the vapour starts to get thin, I usually regrind the ABV using the supplied Cano grinder and I'm able to get one more nice thick bag of vapour. The taste is not the best, but the effects are great!

@lazylathe
Nice to see you're enjoying the cano so far. Have you had a chance to try using a bit more herbs , maybe 0.3 to .5g and turn the dial over 8? The first time I did this, all I can say is HOLY CRAP!!! Thickest , most potent vapour ever!

I don't do this all the time, quite rarely infact, but if you're ever craving super dense almost bong-like vapour it's definitely worth a try. Report back with your findings , lol:brow:

Hey doublevanos I did exactly that when I first received my cano! Filled the solid valve full then put it up to 230 Celsius! All was good lol apart from it didn't immediately kick in! It kicked in when I popped down to my local shop, as I was driving it hit me like a freight train!! I didn't even know what side of the road to drive on! :ko::ko:

That is what i felt like yesterday!!
This vape is a creeper...BAM you're stoned beyond belief!
Getting the hang of the easy valve slowly, still pull the whole set up off at times...LOL.
I tried a bag through my JM FLO Recycler and the hits are so smooth and huge!!
This vape is definitely a keeper! Not a daily driver unless you grow your own!
I am quite liking rolling in my new Rolls!

oh man, I fucked up my Volcano.
Concentrates i picked up seemed a bit under purged, so i sat the silicone container on top of my Volcano to warm/melt a bit.
too bad i fell asleep.

about half a gram gone down into or around the heater.

The cano is my daily driver, it grew on me more and more with time. While I dont grow(wish I could) , I have an amazing source with an almost constant supply. I'm lucky there.

With that said, I can load as little as .1 g in the solid valve and get great bags. I've heard the easy valve needs a bit more as the oven looks much bigger.

Would it be possible for someone with both the Solid and Easy valves I post a pick of the chamber sizes?
I would have thought they were the same size since the top of the unit where the chamber clips on is universal.

If the Solid valve chamber is smaller then I will get one of them!

The solid valve bowl is smaller due to having thicker side walls, it's well worth having the solid valve! I love it! I to sometimes only put .1 in it and get a couple of good bags and a wispy one, I like to use solid valve for myself and girlfriend! And ez valve for when friends are over...

Edit was just about to put a photo comparison up for you, but forgot I've leant my solid valve out! Soz

I have thought of this a few times. I am shocked there isnt already an option given how popular the volcano is. If someone made a mod that went into the ez bowl and decreased the capacity it would be great.

It could be made out of glass, SS, or ceramic. Like a flat plate with a bowl in the middle that lines up with the top screen. The flat plate part would be important to block the air and make sure only air goes through the middle portion. Could significantly decrease capacity

it seems to have soaked into the insulation wrapped around the heater
It's OK.
Clean everything else.
If you have the talent replace the insulation.
If you do not.. clean up everything else the best you can.
Take apart what comes apart easily, and tidy it up.
Let us know of your progress.

it works but smell when heating. I don't think much or any went down inside the heater.
i turned up the temp and filled a bag from an empty chamber. No vapor or smell in the bag.
but the room smell reminds me of drilling printed circuit board

Sorry to read about your situation. Anyway to post a picture?

I hope everything works out!

BHO isn't an electric conductor but could be aggressive like tree gum/resin especially when hot I think. I hope your nose is tricking you... But after what you are saying sounds like unhealty smell! Just be careful. I would try to open it up and clean like Vitolo said.

@Ratchett
Aren't you are manufacture of loading funnels and gongs, songs and so on?

I think you could do a bowl size reducer very simply of Teflon or ceramic or another heat resistant Polymere like @olivianewtonjohn's picture suggested (if I understood it right).
Teflon should be the easiest and fastest way to process, just 2 working steps (cutting and drilling) from a pole of the right diameter to the reducer!

Just throw one of the disks in the right size in the solid/easy valve...

Edit: or just throw a stainless steel cylinder in the middle of the bowl like olivianewtonjohns picture could suggest, too.... But this should affect heat transfer I guess

I think something like that would work well! What about a reducer ring? Something that'll reduce the diameter and would touch both screens if you know what i mean?

Edit same as oliviernewtonjohn idea but wouldn't need to fit inside the top part of the bowl, just press up to existing screen....?

This is exactly what I tried to say with the picture! We should have this for the plenty, too! The oil pad is a bad compromise imo.

I do make adapters/funnels/etc in a variety of 3D printed materials (depending on the situation). My only real requirement is access to the part my 3D printed part will mate with so I can confirm the fit of finished products.

Feel free to visit my FC thread or PM me if I can help (sorry, I am not very familiar with the Volcano, never really used one!)
