Not me but it's nothing against Buzz personally. Let me explain.

ANYONE, be it an FC member or not, who gets a free vaporizer from a manufacturer to review, be it a beta or a final production unit, is faced with a bit of a conflict. Do I report it as I see it without any regard to the fact that the manufacturer sent me a free unit? If I clearly point out it's faults, am I somehow being ungrateful to a company who not only sent me a free vaporizer but also trusted me enough to write a review? Would this review be just as brutally honest as it would be if I purchased the unit as any customer would do while at the same time, not having any relationship with the manufacturer other than a manufacturer/customer releationship?

There's a whole other mindset that comes into play when you spend your own hard-earned cash on a product versus getting a freebie from a manufacture and this difference does come into play when writing a review. It also comes into play if even if you paid for it but received preferential treatment because you are a reviewer. It's the relationship with the manufacture that comes into play here.

I know this because not only does it make sense strictly from a logical point of view but also because I have received free units to review myself and I know that when writing such a review, I am constantly thinking about how the manufacture will feel about it versus just writing a review on a product that I spent my money on and it's a struggle to not spin by overstating the positives while understating the negatives.

For me, I would trust a review more from someone who purchased the unit as an end consumer.

I understand what your saying, and it may be true sometimes, but I see that happening way more on YouTube and blog sites.
The main reason I signed up to be a member on fc was because the people on here are real and very opinionated. We tell you how it is. We all hate cheap shit that doesn't work how it claims too. I can personally guarantee you that whether I was given a product for free or not I would review that product based upon performance, and if it sucked then I'd tell you it sucked. That's what this community is here for and why its so great. Plus Most affiliate positions want you to post a review on YouTube or make a blog page about there product. Which you could still do to please the company but then come here and post your real throughts. that said company wouldent even know its you if you don't tell them your an fc member. But I digress...
I just personally have yet to be steered wrong by an fc member.

On a side note I wonder if the grasshopper will be available at this years high times cup in Denver??
Anyone have any info on that?

So us early backers might get them by end of month? I sure hope so....
I do believe that my unit is in the same patch as early bakers except if they made the exact number of units or there was like 100 more orders by the time I did mine :)

bambaaachacan you do finish 2-3 bowls in a row or it gets way too hot for that ?! Like the old thermovape used too? If you want to actually make a session with it, is your throat going to be bleeding and maybe the mouthpiece is getting untouchable hot? Thanks for your time to answer, happy testing.

vaporizerwizardNo I wouldn't recommend that. As for now it gets pretty warm after about 3-4 hits on a single session. Now I like to turn it on, hit it, turn it off and then wait for my next hit to turn it back on. This can be a session

ps: I was abit meditate and I didnt saw the auto corrections my phone made on the original post pretty funny reading!

Just a little more food for thought in the form of direct quotes from VaporWizard:

"And it only gets hot with prolonged use (like 6-7 hits). If it's just one person, you only need 3-4 hits and you're good."

"I was able to get 4 bowls in with about .2-.25 grams per session. Vapor quality was similar to that of the Pax. Production on the other hand was HUGE.

Interesting information I think, and more in line with what one might expect from other vapes? While not a session vape, nor likely useful by more than one guy, it sounds like it'll find a welcome niche.

I'm not quite clear, though, is that four bowls of 1/4 gram each? A gram total per charge? That's impressive if so. If, OTOH the four bowls total .25 that seems more on par? Sixteen hits per gram? Naw......

Anyway, we have confirmation that the battery is indeed a standard 750mAh. And under some conditions will deliver 16 hits per charge, 3 or 4 of which is sufficient for at least some users. Cool. But if those four hits burn 1/4 gram each I think that's way different than if they are more like 1/16 gram each? Things seem to be firming up. FWIW it sounds to me like Beta units shipped?

Ever closer.......

I'm pretty sure he did indeed mean kill a .25g bowl in 4 hits... Though he also said four .2 to .25g bowls to be fair. And he said he was doing full deep draws, he was really testing the heater. Otherwise now he seems be is using lower temps and letting bowls last more than 4 hits, but using it on demand instead if sessioning. We dont know his battery life for this though...

What's battery life like? Do you think it's truly convection? What are its pitfalls? What's the discretion like (odor, look, volume, time)

VaporizerWizard
4 bowls before the battery died. Some conduction with mostly convection. I would compare it to the Crafty.

Be careful, where he said he compares it to the crafty, I believe he means bowls per battery charge and not vapor quality.

He Said that, the vapor and the MP are descent to hot after 2-3 hits so nothing to do with crafty's vapor that you can't even feel it in your throat but also crafty's battery runs out fast really fast so maybe that what he wanted to say :( (and takes pretty long to heat up, the crafty that is) So yes I would agree with you. But you can't imagine how happy I would be if it could delivery the chill vapor that crafty does even with some extra accessories

Yeah I wanted to represent his quote in full, didn't want to leave anything out. I was just wanting to clear up the question about amount. It's four bowls at .2-.25g per bowl. So, he is saying that you can clear ~1g per battery.

Thanks. How is it you know it's four bowls totaling a gram, not a 1/4? It's not in any of the quotes I've seen, that is I can 'read it either way'. IIIRC the bowl is mighty tiny, much smaller than say Solo which won't hold that much. And that means he's getting 16 hits per gram, way, way past my level of consumption. Solo has some owners who need two stems back to back (something under half a gram) but I don't think any do that in half a dozen or so hits?

Such details will no doubt become clearer in the coming months.

Thanks again, did you have an additional quote I missed?

It was like his first quote, when he's talking about his amazement by the power, fairly certain he said something to the effect of .25g bowl killed in four hits... Seemed clear to me but who knows

I agree that would floor me if done all at once, but Buzz is vaping ridiculous amounts I believe, judging by all his vape reviews...

This was one response I found. Still could be a bit ambiguous on what he considers a "session."

I was able to get 4 bowls in with about .2-.25 grams per session.

Then he said,

60% of a Pax bowl. ~.2-.25 **No scale so im just guessing.
**with the amount of reviews he does I am ok with his estimation abilities on material amount.

Then he said,

I got 4 bowls on a single charge and the battery is replaceable.

So he considers a bowl to be ~.2-.25g and he got 4 bowls on one battery. Given, that is under the assumption that his estimation on amount of material is close.

I have been trying to withhold my comments on this vape until they actually start arriving in FC members' hands and we are all posting on the new thread.

But I'll just say that I just read the Pax 2 thread. For those looking for ultra stealth, ultra portable and willing to make a few compromises for those features, the P2 looks like it will be a formidable alternative to the GH. Say what you will about the original Pax but it has sold 500,000 units to date, and its looking like the Pax 2 address the major shortfalls of the original in a smaller, even stealthier form factor. There are probably a lot of Pax owners who have been looking at the GH as a natural upgrade who are now also going to look at the P2.

The Pax 2 starts shipping April 2... if the GH doesn't start shipping and becoming more generally available very soon, they may miss a window of opportunity and lose a bunch of sales to the Pax 2.

Thanks, that's what I saw as well. I agree 'what is a session' is an open point. I'm thinking a session is a quarter gram (not a full one)? I'm thinking packing .25 grams in that tiny bowl is going to be mighty tight if even possible?

And sixteen hits per gram doesn't square with what most guys consume I think? A dozen hits per Solo stem is more in line I think?

One thing sure, we're talking closer to 3 minutes heating time than 3 hours per charge.

Thanks again, hopefully this will become clear as they get into folk's hands.

Yeah, I'd like to get some clarification on bowl size and how much herb constitutes a full load. A Solo stem holds about .15 to .18g max. I used to weigh my herb and that's what I found to be a full Solo load.

I wish Buzz would weigh his product so we could know reasonable load size. And I must say, I agree with you that vaping .25g in any portable w/o water filtration in only 4 hits does not seem possible to me. I'm a competitive recreational athlete with enormous lung capacity and it still takes me 8 big rips to cash a Solo stem in the .15 to .18g range. The Grasshopper obviously has a very short vapor path and my lungs hurt right now just thinking about cashing a .25g bowl in 4 hits. Maybe Buzz can do it, but I sure the fuck couldn't!!

Being curious about the true bowl size just like everyone else, I checked the GH website and then the Pax website. Here are official bowl capacities that I believe give a pretty good basis for comparison.

Original Pax: 2.0 cc
Grasshopper: 1.2 cc

I've seen more than a few complaints that the Pax bowl is too big, so... there you have it. :)

Well if we go based off of those numbers then vw's estimation that the GH's bowl is 60% that of the pax is right on. And in vw's comparison of the pax and firefly on his website he states that the pax will hold .3 grams. This means that the gh should hold ~.18g in the bowl. Which would give us .72g per battery not 1g. I don't know what any of this really proves, I was just bored and went hunting.

I'll take this I guess.

By watching this review:

I would still prefer the GH...

The Pax 2 still takes to long to heat up(1+ minutes vs couple seconds, why is the question? The 70 dollar Imag plus took less time :mental:)

Still looks not nearly as stealth as the GH

Will probably cost twice as much as the GH retail price wise(Sorry 200+ for a portable is something I would never do...)

Needs more herb(Rather have less in a portable, preference really).

Does it have user replaceable battery yet?

To me it also looks awkward without a full mouth piece, I know I haven't used it but the amount of times I burned my lips with the the original Pax because I didn't pay meticulous attention to how I put the mouthpiece in my mouth is pretty high, the GH might have the same issue for all I know though, the Imag+ didn't have this issue though so I am hopeful. Maybe they fixed it, most people that used the pax I know never burnt themselves, maybe its me.. :uhoh:

I don't wanna be that hater guy but Pax really reminds me of Apple....in the bad way. Sorry guys *Puts up flame shield*

Don't get me wrong, I think I will be happy with the GH too. Obvious advantages for me are true convection design/draw, speed, and ease of cleaning. On the stealth front, I'm hoping the GH will be something I can get completely clean so I can jump on a plane with it without worry.

On the other hand, I've been wondering how easy it will be to take into concerts, etc. Do I sneak it in or just wear it clipped to my shirt/jeans/jacket in the open for all to see. Will it be obvious its not a pen if someone takes a second or third look at it?

Paxes are great for stealth because they look like a battery/charger or some other ambiguous piece of tech. With that flat mouthpiece there are even fewer tips to what it is... it just blends in. It will be interesting with the GH to see how non-owners react to it when they see it out and dont know what it is.

I doubt security would care or even notice to be fair since its pen shaped, everyone knows weed is legal in every state at concerts.

I mean every concert I have ever been to had people lighting up blunts, hell seen a foot long bong in MSG once with some dudes smoking really really skunk weed, security all around...

Its like a unwritten law. :freak:
