Arizer Solo

Well you've all convinced me. Purchased my second vape today (Ebay). My first was a MFLB a couple years ago, but I did not know how to use it and with my gorilla handling, it didn't last long anyway.

I'm looking forward to the solo while I wait for my HI. Thanks for all the input. This is a great, informative, and positive forum. Props!

Welcome to the fun, too bad on a not so great of note.
More than likely the Solo itself is fine.
Start with trying another charger. If you have a multi meter you can verify the output of the suspected bad unit. Or just find another 12 volt 1 amp (min) supply and solder the leads from the old one. This is to re-use the connector which is an odd size. Make sure you get the polarity right. Center positive.
Hopefully, that will get you going.
If not, it's most likely the battery gone south. You say the unit use to work without the battery? For that to be the case, you have an older unit and a 8.5 volt supply for PA use. This was an optional supply you may have forgotten you have?. If you still have that one, give it a try and report back.
In writing this, (thinking) is it possible you are trying to charge your unit with that supply? Just a thought.
Let us know if any of this helps and we can go from there.
What I meant is that I could use the wall charger I had to charge the unit, or I could use the unit plugged into the wall while it charged. This is why I thought that if I took the battery out completely and it acted in the same manner I could rule out the battery as being the issue.

The charger alone cannot supply enough power for the heater (about half only), which is why the PA for those Solos that support it is able to provide so much more current (about 2.5 Amps, not one, minimum).

You need a solid battery with at least a partial charge to power from the 12 Volt one Amp charger. A good (but completely discharged) battery should do a session OK with 10 or so minutes charging first. If the battery is shot, that's where you need to start.

My video has the D020. It's a very versatile peice. I would go with this. Honestly, its reputation precedes itself.

Yeah like @CarolKing was saying your video of the D020 was great!

One other thing to keep in mind...the seller. I know that a lot of people have had very good luck with Sunshinestore. They ship out your order very fast, and have a great track record. Just curious, have you looked at the D020-D? http://www.dhgate.com/product/d020-...ator-smoking/187214099.html#s1-0-1|3844061122

Yeah the D020-D really looks a lot like the WP001 I was mentioning...

I don`t do a lot of vaping right now but I`m starting to experiment with low THC, moderate CBD strains and am starting to do more. So a bubbler would be nice...

Small is actually better (D020) for me but I`m wondering how stable it is because it`s quite small. Do you have to hold it tightly to keep it from falling over with the Solo in place? Would the larger ones (D020-D, WP001) be safer/more stable in that way?

The D020 is the perfect size to use with the Solo. The way the Solo is centered in the middle of the unit when using a GonG ensures it won't fall over when set on a table. The glass is actually quite hefty; based on the price you wouldn't expect that! One of the best vaping decisions I ever made!!

I prefer it to my Pinnacle Water Tube and reach for it 9 times out of 10.

Excellent! This is why I ask you guys (and Ladies) when I`m not sure...
So D020 it is and now it`s just a question of vaping enough (I mostly tincture) to justify dropping ~ $80 CDN to set up with the bubbler and a GonG...Decisions, decisions...

Thanks everybody for the very helpful input (not to mention the inspirational video from Slow Draw McGraw)!

So I have a question. Per your folks suggestions I went ahead and ordered the Solo and the D020. PV has only the 14mm GonGs available. I will probably order one but will then need a GonG 18 to 14 reducer bushing. Does anyone know where can I get a good bushing cheaply?

It came!

First impression was that it was a lot smaller than I was expecting. For some reason it looked bigger in pics and videos I've seen, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Also pleasantly surprised with how well this thing just works right out of the box. Came with a full charge, I let it heat up to 7 and run for a little bit to fit the glass in and then I was vaping and was getting big flavorful clouds right away.

Very happy. :D

I've been using my first vaporizer, a Flowermate Vapormax, for the past year and its been cool. I just ordered the Arizer Solo. From what I have read its better than the FM as far as vapor quality. Is this true?

I have also read from other people that they like there FM more than there Solo. My FM was working a lot better, when it was new, now its more restrictive because of the lower "fixed" screen is clogged and it cannot be removed to clean underneath it so I get less vapor now when I pull. I'm hoping this doesn't happen to the solo.

Not to worry. The way the Solo is designed will keep that from happening!

I was just using my FM V5.0 yesterday for the first time since I got my Solo a few weeks ago. You`re going to love the Solo!
I like the FlowerMate...it does a decent job and is more portable but the Solo is just a great little vape. The more I get to know it the more I like it.

No worries about the same issues as with your FM, the design of both units is quite different...
Congrats on getting a Solo, you`ve made a great choice!

Thanks, im really excited now and cant wait. How much flower does the Solo's stem hold? Is it about the same as the FM's chamber?

I checked this and they`re pretty close. I use a domed screen in both my Solo stems which makes them about 1/3 smaller. With the screens it comes to about the same as what the FM holds...
I don`t pack either and I use a medium grind.

Hi all.

The beeps on my Solo no longer go when you turn it on and off, is there a way to turn it back on? Or is it just broken...?

I love my solo, it gets loads of use. Few times a day anyway. My extreme Q is basically redundant now.

Turn it on and let it do its light show. When it's idling, hold the left button ('up') for a few seconds. It should beep back at you. Turn off and on to confirm. If you hold it for a few seconds again you shouldn't hear anything, but it will turn the beep off. I keep mine off personally. I know when it's getting turned on, I'm the one doing it ;)

Why do you use a medium grind opposed to a fine grind? I ask because with my FM I find that I get more vapor density when I grind the herb with my fingers. I recently bought a mini Santa Cruz Shredder because I read the mini SCS grinds the finest and the FM vapes differently when I grind with SCS. I get less hits.

Does the solo work best with a medium grind? If so I might also order a regular SCS which I have read gives more like a medium grind.

If you decide you don't want to use a screen with your mouthpiece a medium to a course grind works better for me.:2c:

do you have more info? his site does not mention anything about the base plate repair kit.

I've got all sorts of information on the topic, have made a dozen or so posts here about it, but I don't know for sure what's involved in the kit Pipes sells.

Please contact him for those details.

Really not a lot to it. Mainly 4 ea of a proper fitting washers which go under the screws to even out the hold down pressure. This makes the screws protrude from the bottom so we cover them with some felt. The instruction sheet.
BTW, Arizer generally will not fix under warranty as does not effect the performance. At least that was their take last I heard.
I have not generally been selling by themselves because of the low value and can be obtained from local hardware stores. But if your really in a pickle, we can do something.

Something to look forward to tonight :D GB-187 arrived today... Even more exciting than Christmas lol

A very well made piece I'm impressed, and YMMV but I find there's less imperfections than on the D020-D I had (Yingmin also shipped quicker than sunshine after CNY). The base is damn huge, even bigger than on my 12" Black Leaf bong--very stable.

Only thing I can fault is the dewar joint, seems to be a little crooked and male joints wobble in it a bit, but it's airtight so whatever.. probably common for glass this cheap. Damn bargain I can't complain.

Oh and anyone else with a MacBook Pro notice that a silver/black Solo looks just too good alongside it? :p One of the best looking vapes hands down..
