How the hell is a VAS sufferer supposed to endure 2015?! Good god people. You think I would be satisfied I mean after all I just got not one but 2 new vapes (and glass) and one of which is a fuckin Evo..... But no.. I still have at the very least a Zion very firmly in my sights, an Okin and possibly a Grasshopper too :disgust: .

I love the sound of this vape, I have been trying to pretend like this thread didn't exist for weeks, but I have a love affair with heavy hitters. A 50 watt rheostat controlled element? In a a portable package :o? Fuckin  keep up the great work RBT!!! I love the open concept design, communication, fluidity, creativity, and that you let your engineer come play with us

Yeh man it's like having a Dabuddha in your hand... It's very efficient so 40 watts or so is more than enough unless your looking to crank through .3g's in 4 big draws on a cold December day lol.

Thanks for finally giving in and coming to play with the greatest design engineer I have ever had the pleasure of jointing forces with.

If your impressed with the power you should read about the technical specs of our heater technology on RastaBuddhaTao.com. It's the finesse in delivering the power that makes the Zion most special ;)

I think those that continue to ignore this thread will have Zion envy when the 100 FC users are creating RastaBuddhaTao Nation... Can ya feel the excitement mounting? Only 50 units left...

Oh I am already well aware of the efficiency you stuffed in that bad ass heater with your phenomenally low delta T between the element and set point. Resulting in an extremely efficient heater, lower emissive losses to the body, and lightning fast response all on hi po 18650's which I have in excess. That's exactly type of thing I have been trying to ignore thanks RBT ;) :p

:tinfoil:

Honestly the only thing keeping me from this is the size. I am in a losing battle trying to convince myself that i don't need a portable that size and I can wait for a stealth unit....

YES! YES!! YES!!! I can feel the excitement!! Keep on Stokin' the FIIIIIIRE!!!

50 left you say? Well I suppose if I doubled up 2 units WOULD give me resilience . . . Oh no no no you don't! :whip::brow:

Lovin' your posts RBT!

Man I love this site... Man knows his shit. Sometimes I have to educate shop owners on the difference between conduction and convection?

Your the third customer that can leverage their existing arsenal of high drain 18650s to save a few bucks on the Zion.

OK @Puffers but the stealth unit won't land until early 2016 ;). Be sure to join in on the design efforts.

It's only $150 without the batteries.... Ya know your gonna buy one lol

So I have AW IMR 18650s and a Nitecore Charger. Will these batteries work properly?

Charger is perfect. Batteries need to be minimum 20 amp and IMR chemistry (it's safer). All e-cig stores worth their salt will carry a good quality high drain battery. Several battery's are on test and I will post a list of acceptable batteries before the pre-sale so that everyone can make an informed decision.

edit: I think the AW's are a 10 amp battery. I tested these batteries and although they worked with a fresh charge they had issues after partial discharge at higher temperature settings.

So, there has really been no discussion of load maintenance, or if there was I missed it. Does an exhausted load come out with the MP stem, or does it need to be poured out of the bowl/oven? Is there any stirring necessary (not sure how that would work with a stem)? I have not used a stem based vape so I'm not sure how they behave in this regard. It looked like Ryan loaded the stem by sucking ground goods out of his container. Is that typical for loading a stem? Should it be packed or loose? He then turned the stem over into the oven. If not packed that might get messy. Might it not be easier to turn over the zion on to the stem?

Sorry, now that the Zion approaches my thoughts have moved to the practical. The fantasy is starting to slip away and I am wondering what using it will be like.

Edit: There was some discussion about packing but that was about getting more goods into the load rather than about effectiveness or load removal I think.

Zion, stealing faces since 2015
So... I will try to answer your questions somewhat coherently about my 2x4 experience as yet:

*packing the bowl--- I do not use the straw method that RBT did in his video lol my guess is he was hard at work on the zions and picked up that habit to keep his work pace up. I pack it by hand like us lower minded folk lol. At first I did not think I would like loading the mouthpiece but have found that it makes it easier to make the load more uniform in the bowl and easier to clean . I stopped measuring loads in grams because the density of the materials changed a lot but just started measuring volume. I have found loosely packing to about 3/4 capacity, inserting the mouth piece (holding the vape horizontally) and giving it a quick blow to "fluff the load" works the best. I run the unit at about 2/3 power on the dial. Loaded in this manner I can take 8 -12 good strong hits. I am still getting on average of 8-10 bowls per charge. Also note, you can pack this sucker tight, crank up the heat and take some rip roaring hits making massive clouds and not burning a bit of your material. It all still comes out nice and golden brown.

*empty the bowl- I just lightly tap it out into the waste basket inside or on my hand outside. When I first got it and was packing it for monster rips I had to use a dab tool a few times to loosen the load but after that it tapped out clean.

*cleaning--- beyond using a small paint brush to clean out around the edges of the mouthpiece receptacle and the bowl screen edges 2 or 3 times I have done nothing else. I did break one stem but that was the first day or two. The 2nd mouthpiece is still clean and I have pumped many ounces of material through it. I have not noticed any of the vapor residue that you get after a while in other vapes. I am guessing that is because the vapor is getting to my lungs before it has time to collect on the surface. I can imagine at some point the mouthpiece will need an iso wash but not in the foreseeable future.

*stems--- Currently I am with the crowd wanting a metal mouthpiece option. This thing goes all over the farm with me all day. I warned RBT that I am clumsy lol. Back when combustion was my only option I needed new glass almost weekly... My 2x4 has no cover and honestly I am amazed that I have only broken one stem. With the cover coming in the zion though I can say that I might not even need the option at that point

I love my 2x4 and I am sad that I will have to give it up one day soon to be added to RBTs museum. It has become somewhat of an appendage. I am sure I will love my new Zion more!!! It will be a cherished possession not just some new gadget. Having been able to actually see the guts of the thing and its simplicity I have no doubt of its durability. They are making them durable enough for me and I am rough on everything.

When they make the stealth model??? I doubt I will ever need another vape.

I will answer any questions in regards to my experience just tag me in the post as I do not get a chance to read through the entire thread often.

Very helpful.

Thank you for that @MrPeanut :)

It's good to know that you're reunited with your beloved 2x4, for now at least, and you can continue to attempt to run her ragged!

Serious bizniz.

@cybrguy I hope you are back in a happy place now? :smug:

@cybrguy I hope you are back in a happy place now? :smug:

That comes later in the day for me usually, but I'll be there soon... ;)

i love the cloud production of the Dabuddha but i am really sensitive to the heat from the direct draw of vapes so i am hoping for a 'upgrade' from a dabuddha. i lack the engineering know-how so can you please simplify why the zion tech will make faster & cooler vapor? why would the temp of vapor be different when it exits?

@RBT Are international orders allowed to be part of the first 100?? I signed up anyway, lol.

Keep up the good work guys,

You have my support!

I did some research today on international shipping. I cannot ship internationally as the Zion will not be certified with CE and CSA. These certifications take months to obtain and are extremely expensive. I will not comment further on the requirement of these ridiculous certification requirements imposed by the government ;)

However, since I feel responsible for this issue if you are an international customer and have posted on this thread or liked a post in this thread and are on the wait list PM me. I believe I have a loop hole that will allow me to serve those customers.

My apologies to the handful of those on the wait list that I will not be able to serve.

Please join me in congratulating @KeroZen in his appointment to the beta test team. @KeroZen has contributed to the design efforts from the beginning of this thread. His knowledge of battery technology, wood surface treatments and an astounding understanding of all inner workings of vaporizers specifically convection is going to ensure the finishing touches on the Zion 100 are done to perfection!

Many many thanks for your time and dedication and welcome to the team!!!!!

Beta units should start to ship next week
