Thank you Michel for all your informations.
Because I'm now certain that the Mighty is the right choice, I just commanded it! (on the storz-bickel store, because I couldn't find the offer you were talking about)

I hope i'll get it before the end of the week. And I hope it will work good for me and spare my lungs :-)

The power switch on my Mighty broke last night :(. It's probably the most susceptible part on the device to break imo. I press it atleast 6 times per session to turn the device back on after the 1 minute auto-off. I'm unsure if its a poorly designed switch or if it was just fragile in this particular unit, as I only had it for about 2 weeks. I hope that S&B has made improvements to the durability of the power switch in their newer units. It sucks that this will be my second time returning for repairs, but I know S&B will take care of me. One of the main reasons I chose the Mighty was my trust in S&B's reliability and their customer service.

@Viskuld

I would like to welcome you as new mighty-owner as soon as possible, too. Hope it suits your needs or you will hate me probably

@Mindspin

Feeling with you and your dead mighty :rip:
Hope they work out all the faults out within my warranty time... I'm addicted to this f***** thing, can't imagine beeing without a mighty. Quite annoyed anyway about the plastics breaking, but at least I know S&B isn't happy with the situation, too :bang:
But should this only really make me feel better now?...

I just purchased the mighty a few days ago after reading up in it and watching extensive reviews and I really enjoy it... However when I was using it last night I got 'Err 004' so I turned the unit off, then back on and it went away... should I be concerned?

No, it's just a "cold heater" problem.
For more Infos please read up my very first posts in this forum some days ago, simply type "error 004" or "err 004" in the search bar or just read up the last few pages. :)

Or just enjoy your mighty! :peace:

Cool, I thought the 'too cold' code was err 002, when I was reading the manual it said err 004 meant that it was a faulty unit and to stop using immediately. To be more accurate the error message popped up AFTER the unit was on, near the end of the session

It's just a bug from the software. Error 004 can be provoqued with empty batteries and a heavy draw over 30 seconds. The unit thinks it's not heating properly anymore and goes in error mode. at least it's the information from S&B, but your right what the manual says! Not a big deal anyway. Just be happy that you can return your unit anytime you want with the chance to get a brand new one. Best case you do this just before warranty voids. Couldn't be better for your case!

My Mighty is starting to slow down last few days. On a fresh charge and cold it is taking almost double the time to get to set temp, sometimes I am finishing the bowl before it even vibrates. Also from fresh charge to two bars is 4 bowls compared to a week ago of 6 bowls to get to 3 bars. i am a little disappointed that after 3 months of 4-6 bowls a day the batteries seem to be failing, I have many 18650 batts that see heavy daily use in ecigs and Cera that are coming up on their second birthday. Well it's always hard when something you like needs fixing but I know S&B will take care of things and on the plus side I should get a unit with non broken fins, my fingers can't help but rub the jagged area, lol.

Edit: decided to use it while charging which I normally don't do because of battery health, but it heated up quick with pass through and hit its set temp in what I consider normal time. However while using it I am dropping 15f and it takes 20 sec to get back to set point. Normally it was hard to drop it 5f to reset the 1min shut off and I never had to wait for a second hit. Now I wonder if it isn't something else other then the batteries.

I am not too familiar with the electronics of the mighty as I don't have one but...

Do you know if the amperage from the charger can fully support the load of the heater? Some units still need to draw from the batteries slightly in pass through to keep up with the demand. If that's the case you cannot totally rule out the batteries. If the charger can support enough wattage to bypass the batteries it sounds like you may have an issue with your heater or its related circuitry. Good luck

Not a bad thought. Heater is 30 watt, charger 36 watt. To me it sounds like mighty has a real charge-through from definition of the words and the batteries loosens current and capacity faster and electric resistance rises. Not a problem of the heater I think, but I don't know the circuits, too.
Other electronics have a power management to save batterie life. They don't use batterie power when on AC.
With this bad news from @GR personally I'm not considering the mighty as heavy user unit anymore, unless you are willing to pay 50$ for new batteries every 3-6 months... Damn! Have to get gcmv fast!

Edit: this really makes me sad! I need the mighty constantly in my life

the cost for battery replacement is $75 on american site.

Hey GR, I would start the warranty process, I think they may fix you up this early in, it may not be the batterys

Damn 75$ is expensive!

Definitely you should send it in for warranty. Let us know what was the problem! Would still like to abuse my mighty daily in the future but I'm quite scared about the long term costs.
Time will tell...

If the batteries need replacing and you bought the unit in Australia then you are fully covered under warranty by Australian consumer law. I contacted the department of fair trading and specifically asked them about the battery issue and the Mighty vapouriser.

I got a response from S&B usa about my Mighty, they say it sounds like normal battery wear and when I want they will do a repair. It did not sound as if this would be covered by warranty.

So finally we can agree that those portable S&B units are for heavy users with heavy long term costs?
New batteries every 3 month for the lifecycle of 2 years are 600$ only for batteries, without CUs or other stuffs. Quite expensive.
Hope my housing keeps breaking every 3 months.

Perhaps I should just get an ugly plenty... At least it delivers.

Edit: A user who just gets medicated on weekends, not abusing the device like us, with very low charge cycles should be covered by warranty anyway. I guess. Is there a way for S&B to verify charge cycles? I know there is some way to approximately find out usage of batteries... Just thinking loud...

If you get better flower you don't have to use it as much. I only use maybe half a charge per day

Not very helpful. How can you know how much material someone really needs to feel comfortable?

I have 1A* Material. I use my devices more often than GR...

Better lower your tolerance for using it less is the same type of advice. Or just stop using it at all? Or even combust half of the time? Use kief or extracts exclusevly? And so on...

Edit: Don't feel offended if it wasn't ironical :peace:

I am with you on this.

As I mentioned before I am no new comer to 18650 batteries. I have several rda's for ejuice that are chain puffed all day and for use in the Cera which for well over a year was my daily driver. So over the past two years I have used 5 of the original 8 in daily rotation of use and charge, only one of those batteries has made it to the recycle box so far. So I do not except that my usage of the Mighty to be showing signs of degraded batteries. I am also not convinced my problem is 100% battery since it performs the same when used in pass through. The only time I have had rechargeable batteries fade this quick was from poor quality batteries or they have been damaged by abuse or some other failure. For example if the heater or temp sensor is faulty then the batteries could work more but the power is not translating into the same heat it once did so the battery drains quicker, make sense?

Any way I am not going to get my panties in a wad at this point in time, it was just a simple email and a generic response. Personally I think the broken fins in less then 3 months is enough for a warranty claim. I am sure it would not be difficult for me the crack the top where the CU connects even if means sacrificing a cooling unit. I am going to limp along for another 1.5 weeks then send it in when I am away, if they want to charge me for a repair I will kindly tell them to keep it since I have way to many paper weight vapes already.

Edit: Just did a bowl with 4 bars and plugged in through a Kill A Watt to watch the watts it draws while in use.
Off, charging is 12-13 watts. Towards the end of charge it will drop down to 1 watt before 0.

During heat up it draws 31-32 watts

Approaching set temp it will drop to 20 watt

Hit set temp and it draws 12 watts, same as off and charging.

I am just watching my unit cycle now at idle and it spends most of its time below the set point at 20-23 watts and when drawn through easily drops 10-15f so spends a lot of time pulling 32 watts. What is different presently is my unit spends most of its time at 32 watts while just a week ago it was hard to make the unit drop more then 5f and if I tried very hard and dropped it 10 f it was quickly back to set temp. This does not seem like a battery issue to someone who did not spend the night at a holiday inn.

Yes my man, don't assume its a battery thing. These units are very new. Follow the warranty procedure on their site. If there's a comments section write very nicely how much you like the device and explain the sudden heat up issue. Make it plain and simple. And how your dissapointed its having problems so soon.

Hi Guys

Just thought I'd add my findings to the forum to (hopefully) help any prospective purchasers of the Storz & Bickel Mighty or Crafty

I purchased a Mighty from Namastevapes 2 weeks ago, mainly because they had a 10% discount & free delivery (£248). I see that Owlvapes are now selling them for £238, grrr!! At the same time my friend purchased the Crafty for its portability. My prime consideration was battery life, plus I didn't want an app driven system. I much prefer having controls on board meaning I don't need another device to adjust my device.....

My Mighty arrived the following day, great delivery! My friend's Crafty took 4 days to arrive. Can't remember where she ordered hers from. I checked the serial number which like Michels is also under 12000 which I believe has the updated firmware as I don't have the issue with the unit not remembering Farenheit when it was switched off. This one remembers, although I have to say I'm a Celsius man so the Farenheit issue I was reading before getting a Mighty was a non issue for me anyway. Oh, and the batteries don't rattle & the o-rings are light blue. Not had any breaking fins either but will keep you posted if that happens. Also the unit vibrates when it's supposed to & is working exactly as described....apart from one small issue which I'll get to in a bit

I spent weeks weighing up the pros and cons of personal vaporizers. A lot of people were saying the Mighty was very expensive compared to say the Firefly. However after reading user reviews that said the Firefly got a bit hot, burning the herb and having to buy a spare battery for it, it worked out just as expensive as the Mighty. I own a Volcano Digit which is an excellent piece of kit. Had it 3 years now, no issues whatsoever, so took the plunge & bought the Mighty

Ok, background information out of the way so is it any good? In a nutshell, hell yeah!! It's pretty much a pocket Volcano which is exactly what I was looking for. A nice, cool, easy draw with nice vapour production if you like long draws. I tend to half fill the bowl as I'm a bit of a lightweight ;-) & use the supplied liquid pad to hold it all in. As already mentioned on here (yes, I read the whole thread, took ages!) the Mighty takes approximately 90 seconds to reach temperature. The herb vaporizes evenly & thoroughly & I definitely use less herb than with other methods. I can also confirm that even though the Mighty uses a plastic cooling chamber & mouthpiece, I don't get any plastic taste whatsoever. Just the full flavour of the herb. Also I haven't noticed any difference in flavour between the Mighty & the Volcano. I expect some of the purists out there will disagree with me, but this is my opinion & I'm just calling it as I experience it :-)

I did have an issue with my unit which I will mention here. On opening my new toy I decided to familiarise myself with the cleaning process. I had trouble getting the mouthpiece off. The rest of the disassembly & reassembly was straightforward. However, trying to fit the mouthpiece back on was a nightmare! I understood that the mouthpieces were simply push/click affairs but this one would not go back in. I'm a pretty fit strong guy but all I was doing was breaking my fingers. I tried all angles but no go. Eventually, after 20 minutes, the inevitable happened and two of the legs splayed out. I wasn't terribly impressed at that point but on the plus side I was now able to fit the mouthpiece by bending the damaged legs inwards. I was pretty sure that wasn't right so contacted Namastevapes who told me they had been in contact with the distributor & the mouthpiece wasn't covered under warranty. I was offered 30% off a new one once they came back into stock. I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed with the discount as they charge £9.99 for 4 mouthpieces & even with their discount it was still cheaper to buy them elsewhere, namely Storz & Bickel themselves or Vaposhop. So feeling a little aggrieved I contacted Storz & Bickel explaining the situation. They immediately apologised & have dispatched a new cooling unit & mouthpiece free of charge, so nice one Storz & Bickel! Looks like your reputation for good customer service is well deserved. On closer inspection of the mouthpiece, there appeared to be a couple of extraneous plastic lumps on the two legs that I suspect was the reason why it wouldn't go back in. Possibly a minor manufacturing defect? I have to say though that this is the only problem I've had with my Mighty & it's a pretty minor one

Ok, so how did my friend get on with her Crafty? Well she wishes she'd spent the extra & bought a Mighty. She was concerned the Mighty would be too big but now that she's seen it thinks that actually the size is ok. She's had (and is still having) problems trying to get the Crafty app on her Android device to connect to the Crafty so still hasn't been able to change her temps. She's also disappointed with the Craftys battery life. We both use half bowls & tend to let the units cool down after a couple of hits. This method is obviously battery intensive. People report getting 3 sessions out of the Crafty, 6 for the Mighty. The way we use our devices actually means she barely gets 2 sessions out of her device as opposed to a comfortable 4 for me. I find that perfectly adequate considering it's a lot less hassle than breaking out the Volcano!

I'll stop now as I never intended to write a book on this subject. If you've made it this far, well done you! I may not have covered everything you may want to know, but if you have any questions, let me know

Call S&B, explain the problem with the android phone and the poor battery life and your friend is so jealous on the beautiful mighty you have. They should upgrade her.

Just called her. She's already contacted S&B about the app issue & the Crafty needs to be returned. She's ringing them now to see if they'll upgrade her to the Mighty. If they do she'll be a very happy bunny! :-)

Those two extra bumps are on purpose. I find that it's easiest to insert the mouthpiece at an angle pressing in one of the clips. Then I use my finger to press in the other one as I work the mouthpiece back in to place.
