actually it does make it easier, the cheaper is the one to go then :D... from a functionality and durability standpoint do the two specials differ from some of the more expensive counterparts in the 230ish range, or is that once again just wood and asthetics? (basically wanting to make sure I don't "cheap out" over 30-40 bucks if the specials are made a bit cheaper to GET the cheaper price if you know what I mean)

Totally understandable, always better to ask questions and make decisions with all the info at hand.

Unless otherwise noted in specific cases the functionality is the same whether the Dog is a $170 'Vape Special' or a $500 'Show Dog' so no worries in that regard.

The price difference just reflects the use of domestic (or otherwise more affordable) wood and the lower labor cost of the simple shape, etc. We know not everyone needs or can afford a super high-end Show Dog so we set aside a percentage of every months production for budget Dogs like the 'Vape Specials' so everyone who wants to can join in the UD fun.

awesome, that's what I wanted to hear. I like the look of the two specials anyways, so as long as I'm not buying a cheaper product quality wise, I'm happy with those. I'll place my order now :D. thanks for your help

Mine should be here tomorrow, USPS was average at best for me too (within timeframe, just that it sat for two days in SAC randomly in the middle), but once it got to Canada it got across the country in one day. I haven't been this excited for a vape in a while, hoping I love the log vape life.

My underdog arrived today! Very first impression was how small and light the package was. Opened it up and everything was very neatly packaged with brown paper and packing foam in the bottom for the extra space

My stems came in a neat little bag all well wrapped and labeled

and obviously I had to take some quick pictures of my new underdog as well. It's quite striking, feels very solid and has a nice little leather bottom that I really love for some reason. plus it's ridiculously small which is what I wanted.

First impressions using it with the shorty gong and the short nong in a bubbler were pretty crazy, milked it right up and produced a huge first hit. It does run pretty hot though, I combusted my very first hit (fully packed shorty nong, kind of dry material now that I think about it) but a half packed shorty nong or a packed short gong were fine although I had to go easy on it, vapor production was insane off such a small amount. I think it's a good thing it runs hot because it means I probably won't need a vvps and instead will just try the extension cord it came with and/or a dimmer to get the heat down a bit.

It seems ridiculously efficient, not only in terms of amount used (this nong is crazy - It fits in really well, has a tiny ass chamber and just rips), but also in terms of quickness of use. 1-2 hits and the gong is cashed and I'm ripped. I wouldn't do disservice to what seems like such a great vape by attempting to review it the same day I got it. I'll have to try out the longer gongs, direct draw, the extension cord and possibly a dimmer. So far so good though, really impressed.

Great Scott!
They always seem to look better in person don't they? I was worried mine was going to be too plain, and it certainly is NOT. Its amazing. Yours looks great in those pics!

I still to this day think "how the hell did that pinch of weed just do THAT".

I don't think I've ever got such big bubbler and bong hits from a vaporizer before. It feels like I finally have something with a heater that can keep up. In fact, it makes me feel kind of stupid for wasting my time with certain whip and bag vaporizers since logs are the exact style i'm looking for. also I'm higher than I otherwise would be at this time, so I rate this a successful day overall even if I got dinged for import duty (just my luck!)

did I mention it's also functional art?

this underdog is blowing my mind

Hey Dogs, just dropping in to let you know that all outstanding orders are shipped and all custom UDs are near finished and should be done this weekend.

Also on the subject of custom Dogs we get a ton of messages and emails asking about them so we put up a page with some basic answers to custom FAQs, rough pricing guidelines and some common designs/wood types. Enjoy! http://underdogvapes.com/custom-vapes

:o I haven't been around much in a while--did I miss something? Are there pics somewhere of one of these "Show Dogs"??

They're pretty few and far between but IIRC most have been commissioned by non-FC members who have elected not to share pics. :\ I did ship a handful of them (separately, months apart) to a company down south of us whose name starts with G and ends with 'oogle'. That must be one fun office to work in.
