Top Shelf Strains That You Simply Don't Enjoy The Taste Of

@VANVAS : yes this is a good point. I noticed that fruity smelling strains (pineapple or other tropical fruits flavors for instance, like Cinderella 99 or Chocolope) tend to be completely "lost in translation" when combusted but are very nice when vaped. While on the other hand I had some strains that were very good in joints that turned pretty average when vaped (White Russian comes to mind)

When I finally said FUCK COMBUSTION! I had to change my menu and some long loved ones were replaced by unsuspected new comers. I clearly had to adapt and change my habits, but I'll never look back!

Strains vary by the plant. I had a strain called Mendocino Purple, I loved it! I couldn't find it for a long time. Finally found some and I was disappointed, it didn't have the same affect or taste. I use different dispensaries the second time was from a different grower. Many strains you can tell by the taste what you are getting.

Get a little to try out. Keep track of what you like, then go back and get more. If it taste bad and medicates well, you weigh the good with the bad. I have no desire to buy something called Cat Piss I've seen that around. I've heard it tastes terrible.

The legal is expensive in Wsshington. If you wait too long they may not have the same strain left. I don't know what their turn around time is with their cannabis it probably varies from store to store. You can get to know the bud tender and ask questions.

I have never been in a legal rec store. I live in Washington.

EDIT
Oops wrong thread, oh well:D

@CarolKing I am aware of a good source of Mendo Purp. I'll check and see if they have it at a place I'm going sometime this week. If I recall, it is not anywhere near the most purple you'll ever see, but I do remember it making thick vapor. I hope they are still.growing it because now you've for me wanting it again.

I, too, have never been in a legal recreational store. I'd feel obligated to buy something overpriced and not as good as what I'm used to.

Interesting thread! Tastes and scents - they often seem SO familiar and yet trying to describe 'em in words confounds me. They are often evocative of something just beyond my memory or recollection. They can veer in such different directions in some strains, even though they definitely can meld together perfectly in others. Taste? Since switching over to vaping, I have to say that I'm just enthralled with about every strain that I have vaped. It's not like I'm a barbarian at the gate, I'm beginning to get the subtle differences and even different places on the tongue that taste differently. I can't remember a vaped taste that I haven't liked. Scents? That's a whole different ballgame. I just grew out some Geisha by Head Seeds. It had the distinct flavor of milk that was just about 15 minutes to the other side of spoiled. On beyond treacly. In thinking about it, baby vomit is appropriate. When I have taken myself in hand, opened the jar and got past the odor (won't even call it a scent), I find the strain to be exquisite in every way - including flavor - which is delicious, effect (sublime) and all around goodness. OTOH, Island Sweet Skunk (very citric, amongst other scents) tastes almost exactly like the scents she exudes. It sounds, however, like some folks here would equate it with my experience of the Geisha pheromones.

Then there are the strains that people have flocked to, clamoring for more, that have done absolutely, positively fuck-all for me. Generic. Box store weed. The world of the sujbective is totally fascinating.

I shouldn't even respond in this thread because I have no idea the names of the strains I get here in repressed NH. You got two choices if you are lucky- headies and mids. Anyway, we recently had some purple bud that came through and everyone was going gaga over the stuff but I thought it tasted moldy. I even asked why it was purple- is it mold? I guess it wasn't but it tasted a bit moldy to me!
