Hi Fuck Combustion forum community,

Firstly I need to say that I have been given special permission to post this information here by the FC forum admin team.

I am running a crowd funding campaign at http://igg.me/at/cannabisforadhd to finance the writing of a pilot study to test cannabis as a treatment for ADHD, which will lead to a full clinical trial to be conducted by world-class researcher Professor Dr. Kirsten Müller-Vahl, Specialist in Neurology and Psychiatry and Medical Director of the Department of Psychiatry, Social Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Hannover Medical School in Germany (where such research is already possible).

Several world-leading experts in treating complicated disorders like ADHD using cannabis have already agreed to join a scientific advisory board when the funding is raised including:

* Raphael Mechoulam, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry (Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel)

* Lester Grinspoon MD, Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry (Harvard University, USA)

* Julie Holland MD, Psychiatrist and Psychopharmacologist (New York University, USA), and

* Robert Melamede PhD, Molecular Biologist and Biochemist (University of Colorado, USA).

The clinical protocol for this project will be based on the European Medicines Agency's guideline on the clinical investigation of medicinal products for the treatment of ADHD.

The study intends to provide evidence of a statistically significant correlation between the use of several strains of cannabis and a reduction in symptoms of inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity for sufferers of both ADHD subtypes
, in comparison with placebo and one or more active comparators (e.g., Methylphenidate and Dexamphetamine).

It will also measure real-world outcomes such as changes (good or bad) in focusing on tasks and academic performance, and improvements in associated behavioural and relational issues.
You can read more details about the study in the sup-pages of the What's the plan? section on my website.

The results of this study should in due course should lead to the legalization of cannabis as a medicine to treat ADHD around the world.
The goal of this is so that myself and the countless thousands of others like me can finally live the normal lives we are currently being denied due to the illegality of our medicine.

This campaign is now 105% funded with less than 16 hours remaining until the extended deadline, so we are now one step closer to providing the evidence that cannabis is medicine for ADHD so it can become a legally prescribed treatment which will change the lives of countless thousands of patients and their families!

During this last day of this campaign I hope to raise a further $1000 needed to make sure that the writing of the pilot study is performed by the highest possible caliber of researcher, with no expense being spared for this important work.

If you can afford to give anything it would really help to make that happen... if I can secure some further donations or if some people claim the remaining vaporizers that I have as perks that is entirely possible.

I have 1 x Volcano, 1 x Mighty and 1 x Crafty vaporizer manufactured by Storz and Bickel left for 25% off their Recommended Retail Prices. This is an opportunity to get a great vape at an unbeatable price and help this very worthy cause at the same time!

* The Crafty usually retails for US$399 and I have one them for $300.

* The Mighty usually retails for US$469 and I have one of them for $350, and

* The Volcano usually retails for US$669 and I have one of them for $500.

These prices include shipping worldwide.
As mentioned the campaign ends in less than 16 hours so the devices will be shipped very soon.

If you don't want a vaporizer but can still contribute something to the campaign it would really help to make this important study possible. Even $5 or $10 would be really great as it all adds up!

With a bit of luck I hope to have the full $3,500 by the end of today;~)

Here is a 1.5 minute video which I shot yesterday about the project:

If you would like to learn more about this project and/or treating ADHD using cannabis you can visit my website http://www.cannabisforadhd.org. You are also also welcome to join a FaceBook group about treating ADHD using cannabis at https://www.facebook.com/groups/773055056118437.

Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Adrian

Those are some serious heavyweights in the medical field. Exiting stuff. :)

@cbdagency would you mind providing some more details on how you think the process might take place? Feel free copy/paste from your site. Keep in mind that there are a lot of cynical folks around here; it's not everyday that something like this actually happens, but we've seen our fair share of crowdfunding campaigns that didn't deliver. I want to believe.

Have added some of this above also...

You can read more details about the study in the sup-pages of the What's the plan? section on my website.

The first step in this process is the writing of a pilot study so that is the budget I have sought in this campaign. Getting the process started has been the goal and funding the next phase will begin immediately when this campaign ends which will fund getting the legal permits and ethical review approvals. Then the pilot study itself needs to be funded. Then the clinical trial itself needs to be written with more funding. Then legals/ethical approval for the clinical trial, then conducting the clinical trial.

Then we will have the evidence we need to convince doctors and governments that the medicine should be legally prescribable for ADHD. As you can see its a massive endeavor to get the evidence we need but those are the cards we have been dealt in the current legal and medical climate so that is what I am intending to achieve. Step by step this will happen if the people will it and we clearly do.

Is that useful info? What else would you like to know?

Oh also...

The initial study will most likely focus solely on adults. If permission could be obtained to simultaneously test adolescents or even children that would accelerate the process of getting this medicine to young patients in need, however that is currently unlikely to be approved during the ethical review process.

Encouraging results from the study of adults could then be used to help justify the need for studies of cannabis to treat ADHD in adolescents and children through the same clinical protocol used for the adult trials (though using age-group specific rating scales where appropriate), so that the data can be analysed both as separate groups and together as a whole.

If you'd like to know more you can also listen to the playback link for last night's 420 Radio Show which I appeared on:

We talked a lot about treating ADHD using cannabis and my project in particular in the first 30 mins or so, then at around the 1 hour mark, and also in the last 10 mins, with little pieces throughout the rest of the show also.

I think it was a great show and had a blast doing it! I hope you all enjoy it also:)

Thanks so much for all the interest guys! Since my post here the number of times the Indiegogo page has been shared has risen considerably, and the last Crafty and Mighty vapes have both been claimed which is great news;~)

Because we reached the target the page is still open to accept more contributions, and the remaining perks are still available to be claimed. There is now just one Volcano Digit with Easy Valve system available for just $500 (instead of RRP $669) if anyone here wants it.

I really need to raise at least another US$233 to reach a total of $3,500 in order to make sure that the pilot study is written by the highest possible caliber of researcher. Even if you don't want the remaining Volcano, if anyone here can spare something to put towards this last little chunk of funding that would be a really great help.

Even a single dollar would show your support but more would obviously help to ensure that the required budget is fully funded.

Thanks very much if you can help!

Adrian

Wonderful for relaxation, dissipation of frustration, tension and anger, and restoring the body-mind connection for people who are overly focused on what's going on upstairs. However, many strains are incompatible with, and actually undermine concentration.

THC is known to disrupt processes in the Hippocampus that we depend on for processing experience and laying down new memories. While it's true that some strains may produce a more 'clear-headed' experience, in terms of focus, there must be something very special about these strains from a specific Dutch seed back that were chosen for the study.

Given the current plethora of genetic strains that available in states where medical mj or recreation mj is already legal, the fact that this study opts to use highly specific and mostly unfamiliar strains for this trial begs the question as to what happens afterwards, even if the study achieves all of its goals.

Will people with ADHD stop using the strains they enjoy and switch over to the specific strains that were selected for study? How might said strains become available to patients? Assuming that the seeds are proprietary, it would be helpful to gain a clearer understanding as to why these particular strains were selected from single seed bank, especially when strains whose genetics and terpene profiles have already been documented and would be more readily available and accessible to existing patients.

I am 31 years old. 5 months ago when I was 30, I decided to do a lot of reading about Marijuana. Around the that time, a bunch of news surrounding an ADHD study popped up. That thanksgiving, I decided to give it a shot, a month later I had a Volcano Classic. At this point, I'd been off my concerta for about a full year.

As someone with ADHD and depression, I can tell you without a doubt, this has changed my life for the positive. Studies have said different things about ADD/ADHD with regards to dopamine, but science says Marijuana blunts the brain's response to Dopamine. I feel like it helps me, and I go to therapy for depression.

My therapist is generally positive about the progress I've been making with my depression, and I don't have to take any SSRIs which deplete dopamine, which would have made things pretty gnarly in congress with my ADHD. SSRI + ADHD = someone with dangerously low dopamine in theory, so you may want to screen people against those symptoms.

Any THC heavy Sativa will do wonders for productivity. I find I'm able to keep up with my brain and articulate all of the complicated thoughts that I have. With sober, unmedicated ADHD, your brain is blazing quickly through all the stimuli, and you do one of two things: flit from stimuli/distraction to yet another one OR you hyperfocus on the wrong things and waste a lot of time. Sativas seem to help you prioritize, get things done, manage time better, and not be as distracted by the excess stimuli.

On the other hand, Indicas seem to ruin any ability to focus or get things done. The upshot of that, is after work, I can destress, and maintain a positive frame of mind. I can fully relax. The depression has receded a lot.

I don't know if any of this post will help you shape the approach to the study, but I feel it is important to share it with you guys.

Volcanos and Craftys are probably hands down the best desktop and portable options you could use for this study.

I have adhd had it since 6 years old. Also have a learning disability. I am way calmer an better attention with herb.

I apparently have had adhd all my life but what was dealt with in my younger years was my learning disabilities. I have used marijuana regularly since I was 15, I am 46 now, and it helped with anger, frustration, anxiety, and sleeping. the last 7 years I have been a stay at home dad and two months ago went in for adhd and was diagnosed with extreme ADHD with anxiety and depression. Before kids or more precisely before my kids where off to school all day marijuana worked wonders for me. Now the last 3 years have been the opposite, I can't get anything done anymore, I am extremely angry, I can no longer sleep, and I have not experienced joy or happiness in a very long time. I spent 20 days in the hospital this past year which included 12" of my colon being removed and my mother died while all this was happening so it is no wonder I have some heavy depression atm.

I started reading up on ADHD and boy did that ring a bell, it was like my life story being presented to me. This led me to get tested and allow the docs to start prescribing medicines, AD's ATM but now on my third one and the side effects are overwhelming such as extreme anger issues, no sleep, panic attacks for the first time in my life, and GI issues (not something I want since surgery gave me perfect GI for the first time in my life) so now I am waiting for my doc to get back to me about what the next step is.

The psychologist prescribing for me now didnt bat an eye at my marijuana use and even went as far as to say it was probably which allowed me to compensate and to do so well for myself for so long. She did ask that I limit my use to night time or when anxiety becomes to much during the day while we work through the medications.

Thank god for marijuana!
