I do have a question about mine though. It's got this lovely squiggly crack in it, which I think looks awesome, but I'm wondering if it's intended to be like or if it's a problem that might get worse? I noticed a thin line of shiny something (maybe glue or some kind of sealant?) around the outer rim of the crack, I'm hoping that's there on purpose? You can see it reflected on the right side of the opening in this picture:

B9RkFWF.png

It's sorta all around the opening, but you can only see it reflected in light...

@ACE OF VAPE do you think this all looks ok? Stable and as intended? Can you tell me what is the slight shiny substance around the opening of the wood? Thanks!
Small cracks, voids and grain color are part of the aesthetic that make each E-Nano unique. If it splits you are covered. The shiny stuff is natural shellac that is used to seal all E-Nanos. It tends to bleed out of cracks and voids when heat is applied.
All E-Nanos are preheated, sanded and buffed again before shipping to remove any excess sap/shellac that bleeds out upon heating. On bigger voids/cracks such as on your piece, some excess can appear long after the unit ships and acclimates to it's new environment.

Great, good to know it's all as it should be. Thanks for the reply and for the very lovely vape :)

A couple of pages back someone made a video about how to make a basket screen. I have been trying to look for that posting but unable to find it. Can someone please help me?

Also what can I use to polish my nano? I have heard of people use wax but what kind of wax and where can I get some from? Also I have heard of people use coconut oil. What else could be used?

I use organic beeswax that I grabbed off Amazon. It's very cheap, useful for other stuff and smells fantastic on a warm E-nano. Rub it on a warm E-nano, buff it in with a soft cloth and try not to eat the wax, lol.:mmmm:

I've actually been conjuring up a 3D printed "press" for making your own basket screens perfectly every time - simply lay your screen in the slot, and insert the top lid. I plan to publish this item later this month on my store.

Your post inspired me to finally get off my lazy ass and whip up the digital model (took me about 30 minutes to make this from scratch). It's fully parametric, and can be adjusted as necessary to make perfect screens every time

I'll be printing a prototype this weekend to test with some brass screens I have laying around the house.

Will these be made from a rigid material such as ceramic? What a brilliant idea!!!

Probably printing them in PLA or ABS plastic to start. We'll see how they hold up. If not I can outsource them for printing in other materials (ceramic sadly is no longer available, but porcelain is coming soon - I'm closely watching that material - I have big plans for Porcelain Nano Stems in the future)

Ooooh...my shopping list keeps getting longer. Porcelain stems sound absolutely decadent.

If you had whittled a soup spoon handle down as a tube damper, and you happened to have a Solo aromatherapy cup, you would be in a good position to basket some screens. I like to then flatten the tops, and even put a downward dimple into them. This gives the center area of the screen more herb than the sides. If I allow the center to dome up, less herb is in the center area than the sides, and I get a hot spot in the center. The dimple made for better cooler dry hits for me. ymmv. edit>spelleded wrong werd

Interesting Idea, I could easily add a dimple to my press design..... Further testing is necessary!

Now I just need to buy some nice heavy duty stainless steel screens in bulk.......................

Check out my latest 3D creation for the Nano (I'm on fire! ha ha)

Just finished designing a scoop with a tamping tool on the other end. The tamp side also has a traditional millstone pattern on it..........

p3VvE50.png

I've been tossing this idea around for a while, felt good to finish the design and upload a copy that met Shapeways requirements for 3D printing metal.

I'll be ordering it 3D printed in stainless steel later tonight, should be here in 2 weeks. I have no clue how well the millstone grinding pattern will work, but it's worth a shot!

If not, I'll be trying some more traditional grinder patterns until I find something I'm satisfied with (at which point I'll open up ordering to anyone who wants one)

Sorry for the late response I have been slackin a little lately spending a lot of time with my nano. BRO!!!! That is an excellent idea!! From years of smoking & now vaping the one thing I really hate the most is making screens & always thought why didn't someone invent something that would make a screen more easily & instantly. When can we get some pictures of the actual thing? Maybe a quick demonstration video? I think you should also make a dome shape one for bongs because there's still a lot of people that smoke & would love a instant dome maker. I'm really glad my post inspired you, that is really very creative & smart. I wanna know what you putting in your nano? LOL

Mod Note: Edited to remove rule breaking sentence.

How do you get any vaping done staring at that beautiful wood, :D

I've been watching Framework (Spike TV) and Ellen's Design Challenge and can actually spot some of the different woods by their color and grain (because of this thread). Week before last on Framework they used an entire raw tree trunk to create their piece of furniture, awesome to see from scratch.

My family has some property with a log cabin and plenty of trees, always grew up with tons of burl trees and was always fascinated by them.

Beautiful collection man,

With a JHook, you get that ENano right up to eye level, close enough to really sink into the grain as you gaze....

.... then, I cough, cuz I lost track of time... ;)

Thanks! I have been looking through the hills on my property and there are plenty of burls in dem hills! I still think the screen forming business is where it's at though I mean a buck a screen, that's a money making scheme right there and lots more companies are shifting this way bc why not big $$$...
