Something just spoke to me on a personal level with the wood, the design, and the people behind it.
Haha that's how I felt about the zenhopper, still do.
I wonder if these guys are going to 'lap' them though, by releasing around the same time!

I'm interested to see what kind of heat exchanger they come up with for the loose leaf module. I would imagine that it would need to be a totally different design, but that's just how I envision it in my own simple mind. :ugh:




Think V2 pro man. I really hope they end up just making the first ones like that, Either way still very excited to see how the LL version works.

I totally agree, functionally conduction is used to vaporize your concentrate/liquid/leaf.

Would have been Next Level to use only Induction, but a birdie told me someone else is doing just that soon!

I certainly consider it conduction, which is why i was able to justify my Elevape purchase while i wait for the Evoke. The Evoke is not going to be so small either.

This is definitely a game changer. We've seen all types of coil designs, all types of conduction, and various convection styles. This, to my knowledge, would be the very first induction-based vaporizer.

Well to completely eliminate conduction, whether it be for convection or induction, would be to somehow defy gravity and have herb just float in the void within the coil. Since that's not possible, the next best thing is to eliminate conduction as much as physically possible.

What was this birdy chirping about? You've got me curious now

Induction by itself cannot make vapor since herb won't react to the electromagnetic field. The heat would be transferred via induction to a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger would be made of an electrically conducting object (usually a metal) which in turn could then be used to transfer heat energy by more traditional energy transfer mechanisms like conduction, convection, or IR radiation. So while the use of induction in a vaporizer is a new idea, it will still behave like other vaporizers vis á vis applying heat to the herb.

Why not use induction to heat an element further up the path that heats up air and then transfers the heat via convection? I would think they are doing this.
There are several ways that this particular cat can be skinned IMO. I'm curious to see which path the designers take for the loose leaf version vis á vis the heat exchanger design. :popcorn:

Not disagreeing with you, though why in the videos loto posted does it look lke the vapor produced out of his glass stem inserted into the induction coil looks like it makes no contact with the coil. It looks to me to be suspended in the Middle of the coil. He also had the herb rolled up in stainless mesh stuffed in the stem, and i cant see conduction heat working well with that set up.
There would be so many heat transfers just to heat the herb and with all the mesh wrapped around the herb load youd even have an air gap filled by the stainless mesh between the glass and herb.
Idk much on this type of heating though. I was just under the impression it worked without any type of actual conduction based on what I saw in the videos..

The heat source in that video is not the coil emitting the electromagnetic field, but from the metal mesh that is being heated inside the inner tube. The herb itself does not heat up from the coils, but rather from the conducting object that acts as a heat-transfer mechanism - in this case the metal mesh in the tube.

It essentially acts as a wireless heating element. The heat then must be transferred to the load by convection, conduction or IR radiation. It all depends on the design that they decide to go with. As I said, there are many ways to skin that cat, so we'll have to see what design they have come up with.

I honestly thought they would just have it work conduction like in the ll clip, But obviously not exactly like that. I do wonder at this point if they are trying to come up with a convection or convection conduction combo type ll cart. I really think they would have completed the ll by now if they had just gone with a simple conduction cart, So this could very well be a good thing that it's not yet completed.

As spring time flowers begin to bloom here in California, Evoke is moving closer to production and launch!

Working Prototype

Since our last update, we have received our first working
prototype! After a lot of work getting both the Evoke “engine” and
“chassis” designed and into development, it’s all finally coming
together. The prototype is made out of 3D printed polymers and
contains a working chipset with our patent-pending bluetooth,
induction core and air systems! You can check out the photos

All-In-One System


Initially, we had contemplated making 3 separate versions of the
Evoke--one for Loose Leaf, one for E-Liquids and one for
Concentrates. The reason for this decision is that we didn't 
think
we could make them all work as a single unit, largely due to
differences in the induction coil as well as in the air system that
would be needed to accommodate all 3 material types. However,
after a lot of tinkering by our Master Designer and Chief
Scientist, we are THRILLED to announce that all Evokes will
allow for e-liquid, loose leaf and concentrates. This is a major
breakthrough for us and we hope that you are as excited as we
are with the flexibility of the device.

The breakthrough came when we developed a system to create
3 different induction cores that can easily be swapped for various
uses. You simply open up the mouthpiece, remove the coil and
slide in a different coil. Each one of our 3 induction coils has
been designed to optimize the experience of whatever material
users want to vape. Further, the onboard Bluetooth capability will
allow for voltage control, resulting in endless variations for using
the different coils. We can’t wait to see what possible
combinations our customers come up with!

Firmware

Our firmware is operational and the software development is
underway. In our lab, the firmware is successfully communicating
thru Bluetooth and sending commands to the chipset.

Cannabis Cup (4/20)

With the Cannabis Cup in Denver only one month away, we’re
hard at work getting our prototype completed so we can fabricate
a several more units so the public can test the Evoke to see what
it can do! Please let us know if you will be at the event--we’d love to.

Shipping and Fulfillment

Our current estimate for shipping and fulfillment of Indiegogo
orders is still end of June. We will begin taking public pre-orders
during the Cannabis Cup and Online starting on 4/18.

But you got to admit that it is a good looking vaporizer.
IMO, not nearly as good looking as the original all wood body (shell casing at least) representions. To me in the beginning it looked like a real piece of functional art ...now it just looks like a plastic device with faux wood paper appliqué.

This make me worry...but they told us it's a 3D printed prototype, maybe final unit will be better about aesthetic...

It looks much worse then the design they came up with during the Indiegogo campaign. It looks super cheap, and don't like the baby blue color of the inserts. That may seem minute, but every detail matters. I want this thing to look like a beautiful crafted piece of wood. As you can tell from my avatar, I tend to like vaporizers made out of wood :)

I never had high hopes of them pulling off a real wood unit without making the unit much larger. If it isn't wood I would much prefer a solid color then a fake wood print.

I am happy they found a way to make one unit do all three versions since I do oil, flower, and ejuice.

Cool design , so lets say the user has a tongue ring and forgets to put that mesh in there. Does that tongue ring become the heat-transfer mechanism. ( not saying i have 1 ) lol , I like the design and cant wait to see more.
