What is the ideal length of button press on the omicron lite with a TI KISS cart? The manual says to do no more than 5 seconds, but since the pen came with a nichrome wire cart is that recommendation for a nichrome cart only or does it also apply to the TI cart? If not it there a "best practice" button press length for an Omicron Lite with a 3.7 TIgr2 KISS cart?

I recommend a feathering of the button 5 sec is still a good amount of vapor production. If its a black ceramic i recommend 7 seconds feathering of the button.

With a ti coil i think they do best with less than 5 second pulses

Oh interesting, so like "click-click-click" for 5 seconds with white ceramic and 7 with black? I will try this. Thanks!

If I understand correctly, I think the suggested use is hold and lightly inhale for 5 seconds, let off for a moment while you start to inhale more of the hit that just built, then begin another 5-second pulse if you want more vapor and have the lung space still left, to maintain the warmer vaporization temp that was just reached. This is as opposed to either just holding the button until it times out for a single hit, or riding it / taking long pulses with little to no time between like Sam pointed out.

I switched from doing a 5 second hit to doing a 3 on, 3 off, 3 on, then cooldown hit and I've been so much happier with my clouds. I usually melt it on a little first also, but whatever works. Luckily testing is fun.

Watching the globe in a mirror while hitting will help you learn how to hit the cart. It was my best teacher.
I totally agree on the globes helping you get your technique down for inhaling and button pressing. The globe showed me I was inhaling too fast/hard. I wish the herc had a window. Plus I like the globe over the cart, not by a huge amount though. I love that it comes with an extra coil too, you can just switch when you need to clean one.

ah ok, this makes sense. so push and hold for 3-5 seconds per pulse, and can keep pulling lightly on the cart in-between pulses and can do a couple pulses on off in one long draw right?. Just did this and was very successful so I think I got it ;)

It was *press and inhale* 4seconds - *let off button and keep inhaling* 3seconds - *push button and keep inhaling* 4seconds, *let off button and keep inhaling (cool down) 3 seconds.

great cloud, very tasty too.

thanks thread :)

@StormyPinkness and @OnCloud8 you're on the right track. I've made videos showing 10 second button presses on Ti carts, but I get better flavor from shorter pulses, even with tiny little gaps in between. Even 1/4 second or half a second off the button every 3 seconds gives the oil a chance to get back to its happy home and ready itself for your next pulse. By the time I got my hands on the Okeanos with my 8 i am letting off about 5% of the button travel to un-contact the thing, and then get back on it and kind of tap the button to really pulse/feather it. The 8 is so rad for tapping/pulsing/really metering that button tap, because it doesnt have the shut off functions or circuitry of the other vapes. So rad.

A slower draw + more pulsing, always gets my friends better tasting hits than a medium inhale and riding the button. Every single time. This is why I love using the Nibblers so they can see the inhale speed and i can tell them to slow down their draw as i watch the percolation and vapor density. And why the Globe is so useful to newbies learning how to draw correctly.

I wish the herc had a window
It does. It's called the Nibbler XL; and the combination of the Persei, Hercules, and Nibbler XL is the reason I am such an ardent UP Tech fanatic. It's the highest performance oil vaporizer I've ever used, it can dish out more than a dab (via torch+nail) per serving, and I can (and do) take it EVERYWHERE.

...first 2-3 tasted great, but the next two tasted a bit combustiony or sort of like an ecig thats almost out of juice, and now I'm looking at the cart, and the wick looks black just under the coils...

i'm seeing the same type of problem with my o-phos and the KISS TI Gr2 carts, same-ish responses from uptech in regards to working through white ceramic stock with black ceramic coming in the future. they also suggested the black stuff on the ceramic under the coils was carbon build up and may be due to the purity of the concentrate. my original KISS cart was nichrome w/ black ceramic and never had this problem. i've also got a KISS Globe w/ Gr2 coils on order as well as some new KISS Gr2 carts, so we'll hope for black ceramic and see how it goes with the Globe.

can anyone speak to the white vs black ceramic, or is that a red herring?

my v2 mega cart seems to have a similar problem, but it seemed as long as the coil was completely submerged it wasn't an issue - only when the coil was exposed did i get some black stuff on the white ceramic coil and acrid vapor. it's sitting in ISO now for its first cleaning, then we'll see how it does with some newly-purchased crumble.

tips/suggestions are appreciated.

I very much prefer the black wick over the white. I think it's way better at absorbing and the carts seem to fire off a little slower which helps it melt in a bit before getting hot and vaping it. Based on the persei thread I'd say most people totally prefer it, some people think the slower heat up makes it slide off the coil. I don't agree, I actually think the white ones slide off more, but it's been said. The black wicks were one of the reasons I always liked the globes over the kiss carts.

thanks for sharing your experience.

i received my Globe today; it came with two non-Ti coils w/ black wick, additionally i ordered a Ti Globe coil (black wick) and two Ti KISS carts (white wick). the Globe's Ti coil w/ black wick is performing much better than the Ti KISS carts w/ white wicks have in the past. coupled with the fact that i never had issues with my original (non-Ti) KISS cart w/ the black wick, it seems to me that the white ceramic wicks are either more temperamental or simply inferior to the black ceramic wicks.

for now i think i'll use the Globe (w/ black wick) at home and wait for Uptech to stock Ti KISS carts w/ black wicks; these white wicks just aren't working for me. i'm hesitant about travelling with the Globe and breaking it, so for mobility this new pre-filled 'Shatter Tank' i purchased seems to be working well enough (at least for now). i'd rather not have to load-as-you-go when out and about, but my (almost new) mega v2 cart is slowly leaking down to the threading area.

Yeah, the globes are really sad to break. I've broken two now. I ordered replacements through Vaporwarehouse, but if there was a non-breakable option that wasn't plastic, I'd be interested.

borosillicate glass with an acrylic cover on the outside.... silicone sleeve? Hmmm....

I much prefer the white ceramic for bigger hits and better medication.

The black ceramic globes take forever to heat up.

I know the white ceramic causes the oil to burn but I don't mind that. It's oil. It's relatively pure compared to bud. It's more like taking a dab which instantaneously gets your medicated. I have to take many more hits from the black ceramic and I'm never sure if I'm even using all the oil I put in the cartridge. It gets absorbed to the center of the ceramic and the coils never get hot enough to heat the center of the ceramic.

It's a matter of preference obviously. If you care more about taste than getting medicated and getting the most bang for your buck out of your expensive oil then go for black. If you care more about getting medicated and making sure you use all of your oil then go for white.

With white you get the same medication in one hit as you get in many hits from black. But you sacrifice taste sometimes and you burn your wax..just like a dab which most people don't seem to have a problem with.

Many on here will disagree with me and say I don't know what I'm talking about but I've been using up tech/utopia planitia technologies/ w9 tech/ delta 9 (whatever it's called- bad branding) for a long time and have tried their various products and that's my take. Thats my opinion so save your breath telling me how wrong I am.

Just wanted to drop back in and say how pleased I am with my Omicron Lite & accessories purchase. The globe is awesome! I wish I realized there was a Ti Gr2 globe cart when I placed my order. The TI KISS cart tastes real clean, but can't stop using the globe.

Thanks for suggesting pros and cons for the wicks - I have a few white ones laying around and will have to try them out again after reading your post.

You're welcome. I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do just giving me perspective.

Another thing is that the nichrome white ceramic carts are more durable than Ti with black ceramic. The nichrome globes with black ceramic are extremely durable and I have to say I did get very medicated with those. I just didn't like how long they took to heat up...etc.

And don't get me wrong. I think UP W9 tech is the BEST COMPANY IN THE BUSINESS. I just think there's always room for improvement.

thanks for the discussion, all.

after reading and doing some experimenting, i think i was doing things incorrectly. i was basically loading a good amount onto whatever coils i was using, which would end up with some soaking in to the wick and a good amount on the bottom of the cup - i figured the coils would heat up even the melted oil on the bottom, which seems to be incorrect.

i'm getting much better results from the black wicks by putting a very small amount on the coils, feathering the button so it melts into the wick, then using the button to consume the oil that has soaked into the wick. this is giving me better hits than i was getting with the black wicks previously.

so i thought, hey, maybe this is the problem with the white wicks. i loaded a bit, pulsed to soak it into the wick (was light yellow rather than white at that point), and took a single hit with a button press of about four seconds - all good. the next pulse of the button produced a bunch of acrid smoke and the white wick looked burned, further pulses producing more smoke.

so in my experience the white wicks seem to simply not work at all, at least with the concentrates i'm using (top shelf from the San Francisco bay area, so i doubt it's a quality issue). i just don't get what i'm doing wrong, but it seems as if even after a single hit you need to burn it off by pulsing for a long time, or soak in ISO to clean it out. open to suggestions as always.

I also like to pulse and melt it into the wick before I vape, but I don't think it works as well with the white wicks. I feel like I get more burning/splattering and more in the cup using the white wicks. I tend to put small amounts on the them and use it more like a one hitter. That being said I still like them and use them since I have a bunch, just 100% prefer the black wicks. I don't get an acrid taste from mine either, just the eventual burnt taste once the carts gotten pretty used and dirty. Is it a new cart? I'm assuming not since the wick is yellow. If it's new maybe do a dry burn? I never have with my new stuff from them, but maybe I should, just a quick one to see if anything comes off it.

Black ceramic can produce good clouds too. Use the globe and watch your draw in the mirror. Like stormypinkness stated, no burnt taste.

it's a new cart - i recently purchased 2 Ti KISS carts and that was the result from the first one. i just popped open the 2nd one and did a few quick dry burns - maybe a very slight smokey smell, but definitely no smoke at all. i loaded a tiny bit of crumble, melted it into the wick (which went from white to whiteish-yellow after absorbing the crumble), then did a 4-sec button press - it seems as though as soon as the wire is hot enough to turn red (~2 seconds) i get burning under where the wire touches the wick and smoke (not vapor).

i'll soak these two white-wick KISS Ti carts in ISO and give them another go, just to be sure. that being said, i'm very happy with the older nichrome wire/black wick carts (KISS or Globe) and look forward to Ti carts with black wicks.

thanks for all the info and suggestions, everyone.

I also have been recently amazed by the difference the black wick makes. I got the globe with TI 2 wire and it tastes amazing. I really really want some regular style KISS carts with black wicks and TI 2 wire also, for on the go use...I can't be pocketing that globe. I asked Up Tech if they had a mailing list to be notified when the standard metal KISS carts all have black wicks but they said no...

I'm certainly interested in the KISS Alpha C, but I think from the pics of it in the Persei Thread it's going to be thicker than the omicron Lite, and that size mis-match will make it not-stealth. So we need standard metal KISS carts, with black wicks, and TI 2 wire....I would buy a bunch of them...I think a lot of us here would. Will that happen sometime soon? @THC SCIENTIFIC / @SamuraiSam ?

That said, back to the globe for now, sure is amazing how good it tastes...

EDIT: I just realized, what would be great, would be some kind of more stealthy metal sheath that could go over the globe coils, swappable, so I could keep the nice glass bulb safe at home, and have a durable solid metal sheath for on the go...now I'm wondering if I can rig something like that up, it seems like most 18.8 mm glass adaptors will fit over the globe coils so maybe some kind of dry stem from some other vape line... or maybe on an e-cig site I can find something...

I just loaded a new 1.5 ohm cart and it was working fine for a while, but now when i try to hit it after 3 seconds the light starts blinking. Its not a battery problem because my old cart works fine, and so does no cart. I see it heat up for 3 seconds, but then it stops.

Your edit is exactly the same thing I wanted: to make it more discrete. But I am learning to hit the globe while covering the glass but not the air inlet holes. I know the kiss is supposed to do that (be discrete) but the performance on the globe is slightly better. Is it because the black ceramic and ti coils are closer to your mouth?
