There will be no expansion or other issues with this stem. The stem shown in the image is made of African Blackwood.

African Blackwood is considered to be among the hardest and densest of woods in the world; indeed, among some 285 species tested, (including Lignum Vitae), Gabriel Janka originally found African Blackwood to be the very hardest. :peace:

Very good info, I was going to say that the Blackwood is some of the most dense wood on this Earth as well but also that there is quite a gap between the inner wood of the unit and the stem itself. It would have to do a hellova lot of swelling in order to get stuck and by that time if it did surely it would crack. Good stuff @steama!

Agreed, I have turned African blackwood and it is a beautiful dense wood. Whatever cracking there is would have happened in the turning process. They actually make woodwind instruments out of this word in France and it is highly sought after. . There is however a high mortality rate while turning it. Lots if internal cracks throughout the log. But if it survives the turning process it should last a lifetime.
Ed, beautiful turning job.
Steama congrats you will enjoy that stem for years to come .

And looks like my Lily went out today as well, not sure if I'll have butane by the time it arrives. May be a weekend play, considering the apparent power that's probably for the best...

The woodwork by Triihouse is really nice, I love how they pay attention to the grain orientation and the position of the heartwood/sapwood.

That African Blackwood stem really sets it off as well!

I've used a ton of that stuff, it's got excellent properties for things that are subjected to constant changes in moisture and temperature. Very stable.

@matte green I did have a question. I was wondering how often I should apply the wood butter? I noticed the light coating that was applied when I received it. After it was warm from use I applied another coat working it well into the grains of the wood. Allowed to cool then polished the excess off. I am doing this to daisy as well about once a week. To often? not often enough? I use them heavily. Kudos on the new container for the butter I prefer the dispenser that came with Lily over the jar. It is much easier to apply.

I am finding a better rythem with my Lily. I am now able to achive the same vapor as before only covering the two side holes and leaving the front uncovered. One Side hole as carb. Then I cover all three at the end of the session and slightly reduce my draw speed to get the last out of my load. I had to cheap out on butane  but I do not wish to ever use ronson butane again. I found a more premium butane at another sorce today but it was over priced @ $8.50 for 2.75oz. It is hard to find quaility butane locally where live. I will be ordering some soon. So I am not subjected to price gouging

Been using the replacement heat intake I got from Triihouse to replace my cracked one, this new one has the less pronounced flaring at the opening like @steama pointed out earlier, so far so good! I put some scissor hash on top of flowers into her yesterday and tried that out in both my Lily and Daisy....very nice I must say in taste and effect. I am using Triihouse vapes exclusively atm, they both just hit the spot really great and give GIANT clouds that still impress me.

I noticed a couple changes on the Triihouse website shop: 1) they separated items into three categories now, Vaporizers, replacement parts and accessories; 2) they've updated the picture of the wood butter to show the "lip balm" dispenser now used instead of the makeup jars. Still no official Lily Videos yet.

Would someone mind giving me tips on producing huge clouds with the Lily? I love her so far but I'd like to see bigger clouds that others are describing.

I don't know if I'm not drawing slow enough or the torch isn't far enough into the heat intake but whenever I draw I cover too holes until I feel some irritation in my throat then I let go of the holes and inhale a bit faster. I feel like my draw is pretty slow it takes me around 10 seconds.

With both Triihouse vapes, I have great results by "tapping" the carb hole. with Lily, I only use the middle carb that is placed on the end, I start by fully covering it, but after a second or so of torching, I begin to tap it, meaning I cover and uncover it rapidly with the tip of my finger, tapping faster or slower to control the temperature of the heated airflow. My theory is that this also increases the air turbulence that is necessary for the bigger clouds. Also, I start with the flame penetrating the opening of the heat intake, but then pull it farther away, more like heating the air around the mouth before it gets sucked in rather than blasting the flame into the intake.

Hope that helps.

I like this! It makes a lot of sense to me. I'm gonna try it out later, thank you.

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
So a week in and here is an update.

Firstly, wow, just wow. To say my Lily is easy on the eye is an understatement. :D

Thank you @TriiKLe and @matte green for selecting such a beautiful piece it was truly worth the wait, the quality of your workmanship shines through.

So for me there was a steep learning curve as I have never used an 'analogue vaporizer' before (if that's not a vape term it should be) the only butane vape I have used was my trusty iolite which Lily has just replaced as my 'Zombie Apocalypse' vape and to be fair it wasn't even in the same league as Lily.

After a week of daily use I feel I am really getting the hang of her.

Firstly ...

Don't cover all three holes. She WILL combust/smoulder.

Push the 'periscope' down fully or you will scorch her inside and she won't work correctly.

For massive clouds I am having great results covering one or two holes, always leaving the center one uncovered.
I use the provided lighter and kind of start close with flame slightly inside the periscope and as I taste the vapor I just move the flame away slowly, drawing slow until I have a nice lung full of thick vapor.

I can rinse a small bowl in 2 to 3 big hits, I would call them rips actually as they are so dense.

Seriously, you exhale and vapor just hangs there its so thick.

Lily is a heavy hitter, and I'm falling for her.

@TriiKLe & @matte green I was wondering if there was a way to bevel the edges of the glass periscope so it doesn't wear out the o-ring so quickly? I'm just thinking out loud how to get a longer service life out of the o-ring. Other than that small thing I think Lily is perfect. I really can not find anything else that I dont like about her.

So, I purged all that crap butane out and refilled with some quality butane. I think a lot of the reason I was having to cover all three holes was due to the poor quality butane I had gotten. It didn't seem to burn hot enough. Idk but she seems to perform different now. Also I dont have to keep adjusting my lighter every time I fire it now either.

I will have a new periscope and some o rings being posted to me thanks @matte green for sorting it out quickly, good customer service , in the mean time I have been painstakingly seasoning my lily as the periscope still works OK so far with the cracks......
