Discontinued Elevape SV

Well i'm pretty sure i like the Elevape. The only reason i'm not sure is because i think my battery is defective, My unit will only work while plugged into the app or to the wall, And when i have it plugged into the app it kill's the devices battery rapidly, Even then it will go from full charge to empty in under 10 draws, Off a charger it get's a half draw before it goes from full charge to dead. I don't know if this matters but when i draw while hooked to the app it goes from full battery to empty, And then back up to about %80.
When you first got it, did you do the over charge where you left it charging for 5 hours?

Doesnt sound right at all vapor loop. I was under impression that if you charge it for over the 5 hours that it has something built in to where it scales back the charging as to not overcharge or damage the battery. Maybe try to charge it with another cable or definately contact joe. He is johnny on the spot with bro g super helpful. I have mine dialed in because of Joe's help and it is amazing..

This might well be it. I'm not saying this is happening with ESV (I don't honestly know), but it's common in things like laptops, cell phones and tablets for the 'battery meter' to be "soft". That is the device keeps track and calls the highest charge it's ever seen as 100%. It's self calibrating in a way. You often see this as you see the battery meter to go to 100% and yet keep charging......it's changing it's mind about what 100% means.

That aside, the circuit protects the battery from over charging to a destructive degree. If that fails the results are unmistakable usually.

The first step is definitely to 'overcharge' by at least 5 hours now, again if it was done first. Then try a session on battery power alone. If it fails to work normally without the charger/USB port it's time to send it in.

I might be a problem with the battery since the manual does say something about the blinking orange light

The charging light also functions as a problem indictor. If the unit is unplugged from the charging cable and the amber light blinks, this indicates that there is either a problem with the firmware or the hardware. Please call customer service at 888-686-5432 for instructions on what to do next.

Sorry to hear some of the troubles and adamantly agree that this is a winner. I haven't had a chance to sit down with the esv for multiple sessions. For me, it worked straight out of the box, no coil adjustment. I think it exceeds the ascent and trails the minivap slightly in taste. All my problems seem to disappear if I fully charge it, was having some bad sessions because the batteries were low. Time to test out stir cap.

From the advice of FC, I hit it for 1 or 2 more seconds after the light blinks at a medium-fast draw. My grind is the SCS and put my herbs in with a tiny golden spoon that comes with the maud dib. It takes time to put herbs in, but it keeps the flowers fluffy. I cover the bottom screen and then add a few spoons more (tiny because you can't put much on the spoon).

Between other adventures I've had a chance to start trying Vape Dr's suggested mods. Being a 'one change at a time' kinda guy I started off bending the coil down (as soon as I got some replacement coils 'in case'). Instant success! Since the change I have not had a single combustion accident, and only stir every few hits (rather than after each one......or else.....). More over, it seems to have cooled off on average (which makes sense since it's closer to the sensor now) so that I could easily 'kick it up a notch' (to the second factory setting) without incident.

A couple days ago I shared it again with a couple of friends who'd tried it the week before (as shipped), all commented on the improvement. Next time I'm 'plugged into the app' I'm going to bump the 3 settings up (make the current 2 the new one, 3 the new 2 and make the new three 20 or so degrees hotter still).

My 'take' is this not only cools the coil a bit, but moves the hottest part (front edge) away from the load and also moves it toward the center. The heated air is more uniform (spreading the hot spot over more area in the bowl) now, lacking the problematic very hot area at the front.

It's an easy enough thing to do, carefully bend the coil near where it comes out of the post a bit at a time going back and forth keeping the tilt even and centered. I matched the last photo posted (more or less) with the intent of tweaking it after testing.......something I no longer plan to do.

If you haven't tried it, you should......

Damn, I really want to try to bend my coil but won't do it until I receive more, don't want to be without the elevape, is my only portable now.

Tomorrow I'm going to try the bottle cap mod and as soon as my coils arrive I will mod it too. How lucky we are to have FC so we can improve our experiences with amazing vapes and avoid the bad ones :D

I hear ya there. I too didn't want to risk screwing up the deal trying to make it better. Fortunately, four replacement coils (which of course I never needed.....) got here in a short time.

This is so true. I experienced several crappy ones before I found FC. More folks need to learn about this place for the benefit of their health and their wallet!

Amen on that one. 3 cheers for the unsung heroes around here, the Mods. In the end it's their efforts that keep the Forum flowing, they provide the environment were it's worth putting out the serious effort needed to help each other out. IMO it's just not worth dealing with all the BS on other Forums for that very reason. Disruptive types are rare and short lived here.

@Vapor Loop Try using another USB cable, that could be your issue.
I always use a data USB cable and either my computer or my crafty 2amp USB adapter to charge my ESV.

The short cable that came with it did not work for me, however just so you know it is included as a travel cable that fits inside the case so you can bring it with you to have if you need it.

You can absolutely use any cell phone or data micro USB cord when charging the ESV.
In fact I would recommend using a cell phone or data cable. They will charge the ESV up much faster. They also make it much easier to vape while charging.

What's nice is you can not over charge the ESV. It has a trickle charge protection once it reaches 99%. The lithium polymer batteries are protected too, so no worries there.

Also when bending the coil, try using a butter knife so it bends the entire coil not just the outside edge. This works well for me. One coil should last you a year once you have it set to your preference.

Flashing orange lights usually means the ESV needs charged.
Flashing red lights usually mean the coil does not have a good connection.

My battery never reaches a full charge, it always stop with the last bar uncharged (even if I let it to charge overnight) and even sometime with only a bit more than 75%, did you get the same issue?

Joe told me he was ready to send me another power module...I told him to wait some weeks to check if the battery will be better...

I received my repaired (or replaced?) power unit back yesterday, after Joe had diagnosed it as being defective over the phone. He installed a new coil, after telling me to remove the original before shipping to him and to keep it as a spare. The original coil was mounted horizontally, and the new is angled as others have described.

After charging it overnight, I've only just started on my second bowl.

For the first bowl, I left it at the default settings, and tried it out at 1 (320*)and 2 (350*). What I can say so far, is that this thing puts out a more than satisfactory amount of vapor at 320, with nice low to mid-temp flavor., bringing out the Lemony terpenes in my Jesus OG. I would compare the flavor as being very close to 370* in my Herbalizer. At setting 2 (350), I found it to taste somewhat "toasty", though not in a bad way. I did feel I'd gotten what I wanted out of the bud, so I didn't try setting 3. That's just a personal preference, as I don't typically vape over 370 in my Herbalizer, which, as I said, is similar to 320 in the ESV.

If the battery holds enough charge to be my "take-along" vaporizer, I'll be pretty excited. Currently, I travel with an ecig and "Pure" brand oil cartridges. I love those, but I don't want to attempt to make my own oil, and my weed is free, aside from soil, ferts, etc. (yep, I'm in a legal State, both MMJ and recreational). This thing could save me as much as $160 per month, and I do kinda prefer the flavor of bud anyway.

Back to the initial bowl.....I used the factory stir top each time after 2-3 hits. The ABV was absolutely evenly cooked, with not one tiny bit darker than another. In summary, If my Herbalizer is a 5 in all categories, my ESV's first bowl was about 4 in vapor production, 3-4 in flavor (maybe it just needs a slight temp setting change), and 5 in evenness of cooking.

My second bowl is not producing as much vapor, which could be caused by a slightly different amount of ground bud. Also, the second load was of some bud that I'd left in a suitcase for about a month, so it was much dryer. In reality, I may have gotten just as medicated with less vapor, as evidenced by this crazy long post.

Comparing to my Firefly, my initial impression is that the ESV is going to take over as my at-home portable, for ease of use and battery life (I hope...but haven't tested the latter aspect fully yet). The Firefly does provide great taste, but as the FF's temp can't be controlled with any real accuracy, the ESV may even have it beat there.

It's a dirty job, but I must now return to my testing duties.

Well thank's to someone from Ipuff my elevape is functioning again kinda. I have no clue if i even did everything correct bad signal from my end. I probably only heard %30 of what they said, But for some reason even after a overnight overcharge it's not working properly, At this point at 450 i barely get a wisp of vapor and it still murders the battery in a couple sad sad draws. I know this little bastard can produce i'm just having horrible luck.

Got my Elevape back from Joe yesterday, the flashing light was bc one of my coils screws became loosened (mine are smaller and on the back of the posts, unlike the newer ones with bugger screws on the sides). Joe fixed it up, updated my firmware to the new version, and finally removed my retainer ring for me (it was too tight from the factory way back when) and gave me the new screen set up course+fine. He also replaced my coil, not as angled down as I had it, more flat, but I moved it to point down just slightly now, so no front edge hotspot.

So far it is working better than ever! Have my temps at 305-335-365 and they seem to give a good range, clouds can be huge at 305 with a fine grind (bottle cap screen) but light avb and heady effects. Corser grind works well too, helps bowl last longer, easier to stir, and less screen clogging.

Also picked up the newer stir lid, which has changed from my beta in its material/color, and the prongs are slightly longer. I have to say, so far its working quite well with a corse grind, not a lot of visible vapor on these temps though, get small clouds at the high temp, bc the metal cools the load so makes sense I'd need to raise temps when using the stir lid. However these small clouds with the stir lid are actually really good for stealth and daytime hits, so I may not change em that much...

Plenty more experimentation to be done, but with this little guy back in full force I know that won't be a problem at all

I got my elevape a couple of weeks ago and have been playing with it ever since. First impression was wow this thing is built like a tank. Very impressed with the quality. I like to see that in vapes. I bought two of them when they were half off at vapor nation. Loaded it up with a half used bowl from my firefly and took a draw from the lowest factory setting. Exhaled a huge cloud along with a taste of ass. Opened her up and specks of black through out the bowl. Dumped it out and put in finger grind fresh bud. Took another draw on low and much better flavor with very little vapor. Took a second draw and taste of combustion. Checked the bowl and black spot in one area and green all through the rest of it. Tried everything for a week to get the flavorful hits I have been hearing about using just the factory setting, my computer was being repaired at the time. Couldn't keep it from combusting even in lowest setting even if I stirred after every hit.
So I saw vape doctors videos and bent the coil down. Removed the mouth piece screen since it clogging up every bowl. Much better results and less combustion on lower temps. Then when I got my computer back I dropped the first setting to the lowest view the app. Got great low temp flavor hits that I really enjoyed. I was still combusting if I went up in temp though and I still had to stop and stir after every hit. Then I got my new stir lid in. What a game changer. No combustion at all on all three settings and taste was very good especially during the beginning of the bowl. I think for me the stir lid disperses the heat more evenly than the screw. All in all I am very happy with the purchase and use it every day along with my hammer. Glad I succumbed to this thread!

I have the same issue...
the last bar nevet fills...
how much pulls/draws get you out of your esv ....

What is the power module?

I get 30-45 pulls using 350°F max, but most of the time I use 305,310 or 315.

The power module is the part with the coil and battery.

Sometime I noticed the app shows +80% and the unit is green...if I unplugged it and plug again it shows +90%....I noticed too wall charger don't charge unit well as a computer usb port connected to the app(2 bowls max with wall charger)...although with my others vape wall charger is faster, maybe the provided wall charger is not working correctly or too cheap to charge properly.

But I noticed an increase about charging, now I can get half-filled last bar...although I never got a full charge yet...

Maybe my issue is coming from the first time charging cause I used the wall charger thinking it will be more efficient...and maybe, even after +5hours, the unit was not fully charged....although it's not written anywhere to use app for first time charging might be necessary....

The pro of this unit are efficiency, taste and very small loads ability, I would like it will be my daily driver.

Ps: when your lid screen is gunky you can use a +400°F setting, after 3-4 big pulls (and crazy clouds) the airflow will be better, this is avoid too much cleaning.....and medicate you very well!

I think I built a tolerance to the minivap, so I took out the esv. This thing is so smooth and the effects hit hard. Love the vape signature. Would you guys recommend vape dr.'s bottle cap method or attach the stirring lid? Or both if possible? I put it off because I do not enjoy DIY stuff.
