@pakalolo : fair enough! I'll unsubscribe from this thread and come back in a month when the reviews are out. A lot of tension is accumulating here for no reason and this is not the same kind of good mood that I appreciate elsewhere on this great forum!

:peace:

That's a good idea. You aren't the only one who would be better off taking a break from this thread.

So the next video is supposed to be a review. Anyone want to start assailing the credentials of the reviewer in advance, before we even know who it is? Cause that would be about par for the course...

Please do not troll. We have a rule against that:
  • No trolling. Please do not post any content that disrupts the peace and harmony of this board. Don’t post for or the purpose of starting a dispute.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you were trying to make a joke.

I just want to point out the whole point of this most recent video was to show the ABV at each of the tick marks. It was not about the battery life, nor was it about how many loads could be vaped on one charge.

People asked GH to clearly show the ABV, and that's exactly what they did.

Don't read into the video too far people. It was all about demonstrating the different levels of ABV.

We need a battery stress test vid to get a better idea of real world run time. Maybe three grasshoppers each on low, medium, and high settings side by side and continuously load bowls in the vape-o-matic machine until the batteries are drained.

Useful for sure, but I think the most useful information of all is how it performs for real owners. And it sounds like there are an unknown number of them out there (that is they have shipped the first batch) so hopefully real world experience will directly shape the discussion and end the speculation (or at least change it's nature). Normally that happens in a few days, there aren't a lot of secretive, shy types posting around here........

When did they start shipping?

Standing by for those reports, fingers crossed, still sitting on wallet.

Agreed. I wonder who the first few hoppers have been shipped to. I an early bird backer as well, around number 60 or 70, and I haven't received anything. Perhaps some mysterious billionaire v.c. Types who funded the project have been given first preference.

Hello all, long time FC lurker, first time poster -- my apologies if I commit any faux pas around her.

Let me preface by saying that this is by no means a scientific / without issues approach to getting some more info on battery life. There are several possible issues with this method, so take it with a grain of salt and take from it what you will.

I took a quick download of the video, dropped it into iMovie and played with the playback speed a bit to try and find the 'normal speed' sweet spot. It was a bit tricky as the original Vimeo video had a bit of a slow frame rate to begin with. I just approximated what looked like natural movement speed when he was moving his hands. Around 17% video speed seemed to be at least close to the sweet spot. That puts the total runtime shown at around 8 minutes.

Take a looksie if you like... Link: https://vid.me/q5RC

Thanks very much, this makes more sense (at least to me). I noted some fiddling with the bleed valve (closest camera), I assume to adjust vapor production rate by changing airflow. He also seems to fumble with the switch on load four (about 5:10), it seems to have timed out?

Anyway, taking my stopwatch to the actual heating/vapor producing time (that is the time it's actually connected to the hose and has air drawn in) I make the total at 3:47. With 'lap times' of :46, 1:24, 2:07, 2:58, and 3:47. Respective 'hit times' 46, 38, 43, 41 and 49 seconds.

It seems like 8 to 10 seconds to vapor for each hit? That makes sense to me I think.

As has been said, there's an unknown number of seconds left in the battery but that's less than four minutes of vapor (including 'warm up' to vapor each time) at an average 'step 3' (170C). Hopefully there's a lot of reserve power left.

More clues. Thanks again. Come on Member testing!

Been w8ting for some better video of this in action, im happy with the aparent perfomance. I have a pinnacle pro and the only things I dont like much are that its still quite big and it takes time to heat up and cool down so I cant do a mflb quick toke. This device solves both those problems with what looks like similar performance :)

I dont know why every one is so obsessed with being able to be toking on it all day with no recharge. Or sharing with groups of people. I have always seen portables as one to two people vapes for in the evening enjoyment and walks. My pinnacle has never ran out of charge but then I have like 2 or three bullets a day, so why would it. but im shire if I decided I wanted to be stoned from morning to night every day I would just buy a desk top vape?

There are some people on this forum that seem borderline angry and obsessed! Chill people, isnt that the point? I get that its been a long w8 and that expectations were set quite high at kickstarter but its almoste like they are being held to ransome!

Even if it has the ability to do 3 full bowls it will still be a useful vape to have, stealth, portability, temperature control and pure convection make it stand out from the crowd. I can get high off 0.1 grams, so that's 9 highs off 1 battery that last for 3 hours each. I don't get high everyday so that battery will last me well over a week so for casuals like me I think the grasshopper will definitely have its use.

I am really very happy to say that I have never had a Facebook account . . . however that now seeems to mean that I can't view your link . . .

Picture a less-intellectual version of the back-and-forth dynamic of the last ten pages of this thread. Now, add a white background. There, saved you the trouble....

Yeah FB can be lame like that, they never really do much on the page but posted an image of the grasshoppers on there, probably to hype it before shipment, not a bad sign really.

Anybody else get a couple emails late last night? One was a thank you for pre-ordering and the other was telling me I could use my email to sign in and pre-order. One was titled "grasshopper production update" and the other was "grasshopper pre-orders open", I pre-ordered a while ago so I'm just confused why these emails went out. Just wondering if anyone else got these also?
