Wax Potency Seems Weak

I am relatively new to this and I have just recently tried wax for the first time. I have a DaVinci vape (not the Ascent, the walkie-talkie one) and I have been using Bushman Kush and a blueberry one that I forgot the name of. This vape is designed where you fill a little "oil can" with wax and then put that in the vape chamber. I have been putting an amount in that is roughly the size of a green pea. I don't pack it in hard, just kinda drop it in. I use my vape (on 365º F) and I can feel the hits; however, they seem weak and the high doesn't last very long. I was under the impression that wax was ultra potent and even a little bit would knock me on my ass. I feel like I'm doing something wrong and it's going to waste.

Any suggestions on what I could do to get a little more bang for my buck? All of the stuff I use is medicinal and am told that it is really good stuff.

Does the 'wax' look waxy like candle wax in consistency? Or is it more like a runny sap that partially sticks to your oil slicks by chance and is very hard to get off the oil slick without leaving a film of residual runny slick stuff?

Have you tried a higher temp.I would crank it up and try that. What could it hurt. When I put a little wax in my Davinci I felt I had to go max or close to it.But thats me I like to get at least visible vapor.

Yeah a little bit of oil inhaled all at once will get you good, the same amount over 10 minutes or multiple hits is a little different. Do you have another type of setup to try? Nail, other vape?

Fire it again. I can still find the ground.
Hi @EricDynamic83 !

I just wanted to mention that I sort of run into the same problem when I use my RSO (which incidentally is already heat-decarbed up front, so I don't know how that affects my methods being transferred to the wax world) for vaping. I ended up following another thread here on FC (because my hits were inconsistent in power and effect), and ended up mixing it 1:1 with EJMix in my Kangertech EMOW Mega cart. The ratios seemed to vary depending on some personal preference by each person. I really just added the EJMix so that I could "see" better what kind of draws I was getting, but ended up with a much superior vapeable RSO as well. It also gave me more consistent results in the psychoactive and physical effects (I'm a chronic pain guy, and take RSO sublingually as my "base medication", and use the vapeable version for "breakthrough pain") than just vaping the RSO loaded "straight".

I don't know if you guys have something "like" an EJMix for wax? Or if any of the PEGs (EJMix has PEG400, 300, and 200) even mixes with warmed wax?

But please feel free to ignore this if my comment is stupid for the "wax field". I am a straight RSO guy (since that's what my simple-a** can grasp enough to make myself - ha, I'm old!) so there may be a LOT of laughter after I hit the "Post" button here...

:-)

Peace!

Pre-using, the wax looks like dirty ear wax, but I'm assuming that's normal. After using, it is very sappy and sticky and difficult to get off of the oil can if I don't catch it while it's still hot.

I'm trying a higher temp now, but not much higher. I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't care about a vape cloud. I feel like it's a waste and your body isn't absorbing it; however, I want to see something so I know that I'm getting something.

This is the only thing I've got to vape with. I'm kind of a minimalist, so some of the other methods are a bit too complicated for me; however, I'd like to get the most bang for my buck.

Hmmm ok it sounds like it has high wax content, but does not stick to oil slicks in a way that there is definite residual left on the mat that will not come off (note: you won't be able to tell me this if you don't have an oil slick mat obviously lol). Unless the extract artist is deliberately putting in extra wax into their waxes (leftover wax from winterization of higher quality extracts), your oil should be alright from the sound of it.

This situation sounds to me like using my Pinnacle Pro for oil back in the day.

They gave you a solid silver cup ('bullet') which you filled with oil and put on top of the heater. However, the heater was absolutely NOT CAPABLE of getting hot enough to vape all the oil or even a reasonable amount.

Remember, essential oils require much higher heats to vaporize than flowers. This is because flowers are not anywhere near as dense and the heat can travel in and around particulate flower material. Oil is dense, sticky and often quite solid. Hot air will not travel through it well/at all, and you will need more conduction heat to get it to melt up enough to release vapor at all.

I would suggest starting at the hottest temp your vape does, and if possible, working your way down.

Do not be surprised however if your vape cannot fully vaporize oils. Most flower vapes suck at oils. Even my Crafty and Mighty, which do work better with oils than any portable convection vape I've ever seen/used are still not ideal due to getting gunked up.

Does your pinnacle with his bullet works with wax at the higher temperature?
do you think a conduction vape at 470°F with a bullet also will be better than convection?
