Enchantre's Making My Own Medibles Thread

Wherein I shall document various ways I'm trying to ingest more of the magical herb...

Today, I'm baking medicated gluten-free chocolate chip cookies!
I used the recipe, exactly as written, on the Honeywell Blanched Almond Flour bag (now available at Costco!), except I dissolved .7 gram of my own "Borg" blend of various concentrates that have made it home with me into the palm shortening (Spectrum vegetable shortening - best palm shortening out there!) & honey over hot water... baked in silicone muffin pans.. yield, 24 cookies, at about 25-30 mg each. I am allowing for "shrinkage" due to heat, mixing, measuring, crumbs left in pan, etc.

Yes, photos and videos will be a part of this thread. As I make something new, I'll document it. :)

Of course you may contribute! :)

My current goal is to stop paying so much for someone else to make medibles. Since I'm gluten & dairy sensitive, it's really important that I KNOW what's in my food, and even more so when my food is medicating me. Now, I have been an accomplished cook for many years. Yes, decades. Four decades. Ye gadz. I was raised in the restaurant industry, but in spite of that, I can cook.

It's not lack of knowledge. I KNOW how to make them... I'm flailing about finding the best recipes! :)
One of my favorite "boughten" treats is a raw vegan cacao/coconut based truffle, that usually runs about 50 mg each (RSO). Hubby and I usually split them. I still have a raw vegan no-cook book around here, and can come up with the right proportions easily enough...

I got a lovely haul of medicated granola bars a couple of weeks ago... 200 mg per (!), and got 4 for $20. Okay, I cannot make it that cheap! That's growers for you... lovely people... every time I see them, however, I'm gonna have to buy more granola bars. The cheapest I've ever paid for a gram of concentrate was $20. I've gotten free grams, but to buy, most of what I can get is 30 - 45 if it's any good. I can buy the concentrate from the granola people, or I can buy the bars.. same price. Yeah, no brainer.

I've been stepping up my edible medication, so the cookies I've made this evening are about 25 - 30 mg each. This is becoming my preferred "not at work" dosage. I usually medicate at 10 mg during my work day.

So, I'm really looking forward to using more parts of the plant, as my garden grows... things like bubble hash, rubbed hash, trim leaves, maybe even the roots! I'm currently dissolving BHO/RSO into a fat source, then baking with it. I have made butter with bud, the old fashioned method of water, butter, bud, time, chilling, etc., and I've done crockpot infusions.

Anyway, that's kinda what I'm documenting here... participation is encouraged!

I understand completely. It's difficult for me to buy 'stuff' here, but my shipment of meds comes in every month, so I have enough stuff to use, I just need to learn. I started with the brownie mixes, but it was too sweet. Then I was diagnosed as 'pre-diabetic' last fall, so looking for lower sugar recipes as well.

Here's a quick recipe for Icechocolate:

1 pure chocolate bar - whatever kind you like, just make sure it's all choco
Melt it gently over a double boiler
remove from heat when melted
add a less than equal amount of coconut budder, and mix til it melts
pour into forms, remove when solid
enjoy

These are the old-fashioned 'icy squares' they used to sell when we were kids. Sometimes the recipe calls for a drop or two of mint oil to be with the coco to exaggerate the icy effect that comes from the two ingredients having slightly different melting points.

I could mail you a lb or two of lovely decarbed cocobudder. It's a nice dark green! I tend to decarb anything going into budder or coco. I'm no longer decarbing my qwiso tho - it will decarb naturally at a later date :)

I have a bazillion windows open on my pc. One of them happens to be Cannabis Culture's 'Baking a fool of myself' article on gluten-free peanut butter cookies. 12 grams of ABV shake flour, or just 12g of anything puree'd to flour, and it should decarb during baking. I'm going to swap the brown sugar for palm sugar, which has a delightful slight caramel taste.

Peanut Budder Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

12 grams *shake flour
1 egg
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp b. soda

Directions:

1. Pre-heat oven to 350 F
2. Combine all ingredients including *shake flour in bowl and mix thoroughly
3. Roll into small balls and press with fork to flatten slightly
4. Bake for approximately 12-15 minutes
5. Cool and serve

Law? It's legal here *and* there. It's just the department of homemade security - think of them as a net in a volleyball game, where the net is trying to stop the ball from touching the sand, because when the ball touches the sand both teams win, and the net looses a point.

Here's another gluten-free recipe. Vegan, gluten-free MJ-infused sweet potatos...

@Breathemetal Sure do. What would you like? Budder, cocobudder, or MCT oil? How much is 'a lot'? Maybe we can make 3 different kinds to play with, using similar processes to let you see which you enjoy the most. Do you have a slow cooker? A large pot or two? Maybe a turkey bag or large freezer ziplock bag?

MCT is 'medium-chain triglyceride' oil. This is extracted from coconut and palm oils, and then bottled. It's liquid at room temperature, and thermogenic and quickly absorbed. Health food stores have it. While you are there get the smallest packet of soy lecithin in granule form (not pills) you can find. It will be in the fridge section.

Don't bother with organic lecithin, as the non-organic amount is pretty much immeasurable, and the cost is like 12x more. You only use a tblspoon or so per batch, so a little goes a long way.

Avoid SOY like the plague that it is!! Sunflower lecithin works well, and is not GMO.

There is no "safe" level of pesticides for me. NONE is almost clean enough.

My cookies are crumbly, yet work pretty well! They feel really close to the 25 mg level that I've had from boughten medibles, and I have total control over the ingredients!

I've been terribly disappointed with the newest store medibles available... they all have dairy, and/or HFCS, flour, artificial colors, bumped up flavors... BYEEEEEECCCHHHHH!

Next, I wanna try a rich brownie... I've done mixes before, I'll be doing this from scratch. I have raw cacao butter, raw cacao powder, and some other "superfoods" from my vegan days....

Sunflower lecithin it is! Likely online as the shop here doesn't have it.

CannaCoffee whitener-
1 l box of unsweetened coconut milk. Full fat (it shouldn't say 'fat free' on the box
1/4 cup honey, or 4 tblspoons palm sugar.
5 g herb. I used decarbed.

Put all ingredients into pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Mixture should reduce by about 1/3.

Add a drop of vanilla extract (optional). Stir, strain into a jar. Keeps in fridge for up to 5 days or so.

Use in place of sweetened condensed milk in recipes, or pour straight into coffee or tea as a whitener/sweetener with a lovely caramel flavour.

Oh, why didn't I think of that. you are BRILLIANT!!

I use full-fat coconut milk all the f-ing time! I could so easily simmer my meds into it, (not much honey for me) and do JUST THAT!!

It's great. I found a non-canna version to replace sweetened condensed milk for a recipe. It seemed prime for testing with mm, and it is awesome in tea :)

I've never made it with honey, but I did put some of my recent batch of NeverClear in an inch of old honey my wife had in the pantry. I heated it and swirled it around, and it smells like a vape lounge inside the bottle.

So I don't know why I didn't do it sooner, but I also now have a 00 pill capper. I can fit 24 in the bottom, and the 24 tops go in another piece, so we can fill and cap 24 at a time. There's also a tamper to squish things down. I'm pretty darn sure every piece of the meds will now be getting used in one way or another.

On a side note - is it possible to get *too* medicated? I'm finding the MCT oil a bit strong - I put 3 tablespoons in a cup of tea on sat am, and had a coffee with maybe 4 tablespoons in at lunchtime. I was kinda moving slowly for the afternoon, and when I sat down on the couch at 7 I was up, just a second later, ready to go to bed at 11:20...

On the plus side I found a recipe for 'sensual chocolate', which is made with cocao powder and MCT oil.
Nice and simple - just the way I like it :)

My cookies are dwindling... I have two ounces of flowers, plus a bunch of oddments & ends... Considering a good old fashioned bud butter, or maybe another batch with BHO... and I'm going to do my basic chocolate (bag of "enjoyLife" chocolate chunks, and a tablespoon of bacon fat) with some BHO melted into it... that should be a winner. :)

Tonight, though, it was Hot Chocolate with an almond/coconut milk. :)

so I now have 500 grams of cocoa powder from Costco, and another 400g of organic cocoa powder from the healthy store. I have coco budder, *strong* tincture, strong mct oil, some shatter, and minimal Abv. I wanna cook something for a trip tomorrow for 4 days, but not sure what to bring...

Any suggestions?

And 48 sludge caps made from MCT dregs. Took 2 and feeling dandy :)

Golly gee... um, medicated chocolate muffins?

How the math works at my house:

1 gram concentrate - shatter, BHO, honey oil, etc, equals 1000 mg.

A "normal" dose, based on current recreational recommendations in WA and CO, is about 10 mg. So, there are 100 doses in a gram. One hundred.

Personal tolerance, experience, and preference/need will dictate how many 10 mg doses you will pack into each serving. I personally shoot for around 25mg per serving. That way, hubby can still move, speak, think somewhat, without so much drooling, and I can have two if I want a full 50 mg dose.

So... find a muffin recipe, figure out how many you are making, then dissolve the correct amount of concentrate in your fat... I wouldn't use the MCT oil for all of it.. that shit's expensive... but you could use up to a quarter of the oil as that...

Google is your friend, btw. You can do a search of "ounce to grams" or "grams to milligrams" and put in the amount you want, times how many servings, and it will tell you how many grams to use.

I'm not an expert on how to dose with medicated butter made from buds/plant matter. I just make it and use it.

For travel, I'd recommend medicating a little more lightly until you know how it will hit you.

I wound up with some orange and almond essence as well. Choco orange cookies coming up, next weekend. Not in time for the trip, but the cannacaps will be joined by a nice grind on 20g for the laptop bag. I'll be aiming for a silicone muffin tray - what a great idea for portion control! My cookies are random sizes and shapes and grandma would be so disappointed :)

Good call on the MCT oil - will save that for the 'sensual chocolate', but cocobudder should be great in a coco/ginger muffin!

PS - for medicated travel - Mrs Killick drives, and I vape with the window open just a crack. And run the ipod :)

No, that's fine. ...
the canna paste is aging in the cupboard. .. I'm thinking the THC hadn't been activated. ..so it's resting.

I made strong butter last night. .. two grams of bho in 2.5 cups butter. .. 150mg per Tbsp. .. and made a batch of little pecan tarts at about 25-ish mg per. Hubby and I tested them last night. .. hmm, seems pretty good.

Picked up more RSO at the market. .. using that pretty consistently now. ..

So I was wondering what is that is so bad about soy letchin. Does is work at all? I bought a big container recently and have been using it every time but can't really tell if there is any difference in potency so I would definitely go buy some sunflower letchin if you think that is way better. Also so as far as getting the most medicated, does anyone see a difference in using mct oil for cooking reciepes as apposed to refined coconut oil, which I have been using for all my edibles since I discovered it.

All soy is GMO, whereas sunflower is non GMO. They both work the same, but GMO is GMO. I'm still using my soy, bit will get sunflower next time.

MCT oil is liquid at room temp, whereas coconut oil isn't. I use them both, depending on what the recipe is...
