Discontinued Zion vaporizer

This was a very exciting weekend in terms of Zion development!

Though the new "lidded" design looked great on paper, pulling it off would require successfully implementing a new manufacturing trick that would allow for our near-zero waste, seamless one piece design to work.

We're happy to report great success with the new technique, beyond our expectations actually.

Here's a couple pictures of the first "test" piece, it looks too short to be a zion because it is, it was only cut big enough to prove out the various manufacturing steps.

orange fish "Dude, check out the zero thickness cuts in that wood!"
striped fish "Shhh! man, be quiet! That's proprietary!"

Now I have to go and finish up a few drawings so we can make them for real.

I really like the design with the lid; and I think that if you could make the side button and the temperature knob levelled with the body of the vape you'd have a killer design. Picture that with a nice dark wood and brass buttons for instance.

Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
Hahaha I knew that was a fish tank. The 2x4 looks only more incredible ofcourse. I hope to have one of the first 100 Zions as well, I just sold my Solo but honestly I dont think I feel comfortable even comparing those two anymore...

This is like a portable lsv but wood, and replaceable batteries to boot. Very exctied for water attaching, a hydrotube could be mindblowing, but even dry will be quite fun at low temps. I can imagine just doing a long 20min sipping session in front of the tv at a low temp and flying...

Zion may also benefit from vapor tamers likes 7th floor vapes with the gongs. Oh he's the possibilities are endless bc I foresee a long future for @RastaBuddhaTao !

Since I don't expect to be putting this device in my pocket, with the exception of maybe a cargo pocket, I don't think I need the buttons to be flush with the wood. It wouldn't be a problem, but I don't think it is necessary. The future pocketable one may be a different story, but this is not that.

Not even sure HOW you would make the potentiometer flush and still usable...

This should be it's own post, but as I was the last poster...

So I have been reading around in other threads (where I haven't been) a lot lately, and it seem to me that The Zion is the apparent answer to SO MANY questions and needs of this group that I can't see how this thing can be anything but a great success. I'm ready for my closeup, Mr DeMille...

Maybe something like this?

We have looked at so many different knobs it's insane. The current front runner is very nice, but you'll have to take knob and button redesigns up with the boss man!

But yeah. Lot's of knob designs have crossed the desk. Mine will have a Marshall knob, and it will go to eleven.

I am. High on. Zion!

But don't be misled, this a pure contact high from the positivity on this thread!!

I just wanted to say how much I've been loving checking out the progress in here. A real pleasure every time.

It's such an organic process. Evolving before my very eyes!

This is a next level, fully respectful vape business, and it is looking really very special to me

Bless @RastaBuddhaTao & @thekarmawhore.

I like the path you have taken.

Now, just show me where to sign . . . pleeease :D

:peace:

Bring me the boss man then! :D

And yes that design is close to what I was referring to; the Zion has lots of potential for a lot of things, efficiency, clouds, battery life, taste are super important and it seems to tick these boxes already, regarding the design it now looks very nice in natural wood with the lid but give it an even sleeker design and it will be an object of beauty and get even more attention, look at how the pax is praised for its design and how much it put it under the lights.

Zion, stealing faces since 2015
I am a lonely man today. I had to take my 2x4 to Rasta Hospital for minor surgery last night and it ended up needing to admitted lol. RBT fixed a faulty potentiometer. Then added an on-board voltmeter so I can give more accurate data to him in regards to battery charge and discharge. Hopefully it will be home soon. He let me snap a pic while he was working last night but he made me hide part of the heater to keep you all guessing and wanting more lol.

We're really trying to lean towards the "bomb proof" side of things with this initial offering. I love the near flush wooden knob, but it would probably require gluing on, and then what if the glue joint breaks, does the user get to glue it back on, and ugh....it just gets ugly. The knob we're focused on right now has a big ol' hunk of brass and a set screw. It gets the job done robustly, and has a nice heavy ham radio tuning knob feel to it.

Think of it this way. The knob it comes with will be easy to remove and you can mod away! I'll even design you a custom one if you want!

Manufacturer
Possibilities with this technology are endless... We have 11 design configurations of the technology patented to fit many different methods of manufacturing. As @thekarmawhore said, this is just it's first embodiment. We will use this to refine the technology in this body and then with time and volume and a maturing technology the constraints on @thekarmawhore will be removed and if you are impressed now the things that are in the works will truly impress. All hail the karma whore!!!

I love the friends I have gathered on this thin raft.
We are constructing vaporizers in honor or our escaping.
This is the land were combustion died....

That's for all the input all, keep it coming.

I've been watching this thread since its inception. This is literally how the Grasshopper people should have conductef business. The Zion vaporizer looks like its gonna be a bigger hit (no pun intended) than the MFLB which is one of the most popular wooden vapes. I have high hopes for this vape. I don't care about clouds that much but its always nice to have a confirmation that you're hitting it ya know? Keep up the good work.

This is killing me.I just bought a new Vaporizer and i should be having great times and I am but I cant quit thinking about this damn Zion.VAS is totally overwhelming and it would not be near as bad if not for FC.I've truly gotten way to addicted to this web site thingy.

Hey. I'll see ya at the meetings...

Actually, most of my attraction to the Zion isn't VAS. This just seems like a fantastic design with some new tech that should really matter to vapor production and control. And its BEAUTIFUL, not only in appearance but in concept imagination. I haven't held it yet, but I feel like I have a feel for what it should be like. And it makes a lot of sense. @RastaBuddhaTao and @thekarmawhore have effectively described and rationalized their design to us, and let us help them tune it and it really seems like what I want. Gimme... oops, sorry if I drooled.

So, this isn't just my Jones...
