Anyone here with intolerance to milk?

I'm not just talking about lactose intolerance.

I've been plagued by this for over a decade. I can't drink Lactaid either. If I drink any kind of milk, it really fucks with my digestive system but 3 days ago, I found a cure.

I've also been diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency that sunshine and supplements don't seem to address.

A few days ago, I ran out of my staple, soy milk, and was at the market and thought, fuck it, and bought some milk and also bought some probiotics chewables, specifically, acidophilus with lactise by Nature's Bounty.

Used a cup of non-fat milk in some steel cut oatmeal and half way through the bowl, chewed up one of those probiotic wafers. Normally, any ingestion of any kind of milk would give me gas and having me run to the toilet with the runs within a few hours, but his time...................absolutely no issues whatsoever.

So, if anyone else is suffering from intolerance to milk, be it lactose intolerance or to milk in general and you want to drink milk, give this a shot. It worked for me.

Wow you explained me right down to the D deficiency. I will give this a try after you try it a couple more times. I can take the lactaid pills and think, wow that's the answer! Then next time I am on the toilet wishing I was dead. It is very painful! It feels like your guts being pulled out through your belly button! So thanks for the info, I can't wait to see long term how it goes.

I have intolerance too, it is so bad that besides physical, it is psychological too, I can't drink any of the substitutes like soy or almond either, but one think that works for me and this is really strange to say the least, I noticed that Thai iced tea works like a miracle, how and why I have no clue.
I will try those probiotics you speak of next time, thanks.

But I like it!
Thanks for sharing! I'll try find some for my wife - she has bad reactions to some forms of lactose (milk and cheese), but is OK with butter.

Thanks Chong :)

It could be the tannins in the tea, combined with the sweetener that draws the candida flora out to play. I still eat ice cream, butter, yogurt and cheese, but when I stopped drinking milk as a beverage and stopped putting it on my cereal, all of my environmental allergies went away including to cats and hay fever.

Just bought,

Nature's Bounty
Ultra Strenght

Probiotic 10

What's interesting after reading the ingredients @lwien was right, (not that I ever doubted) several of the Lactobacillus help those that are lactose intolerant.
And others treat like peanut allergies with an 80% success rate. Very interesting and beneficial stuff, I'll try them soon.

Read below:

L. acidophilus may facilitate lactose digestion in lactose-intolerant subjects.[7]

Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus (until 2014 known as Lactobacillus bulgaricus) is one of several bacteria used for the production of yogurt. It is also found in other naturally fermented products. First identified in 1905 by the Bulgariandoctor Stamen Grigorov, the bacterium feeds on lactose to produce lactic acid, which is used to preserve milk.
It is often helpful to sufferers of lactose intolerance,[citation needed] whose digestive systems lack the enzymes to break down lactose to simpler sugars.

Lactobacillus salivarius is a probiotic bacteria species that has been found to live in the gastrointestinal tract and exert a range of therapeutic properties including suppression of pathogenic bacteria[1]

Lactobacillus salivarius has been found to be of benefit in the alleviation of the symptom flatulence in individuals suffering from irritable bowel syndrome.[2]

Have any of you tried drinking milk that isn't pasteurized like a local, fresh goat milk? As an autoimmune patient pasteurized milk products are a no-no for me. Raw goat milk is the most consumed milk in the world.

Raw, organic, grass-fed, pampered cows that listen to Mozart whilst being gently milked by young ladies who use lots of hand lotion, and the lovely raw, naturally aged cheese they make.. and the milk, the active cultures greek yogurt..

... it's all poison to my insides. My body is possibly mistaking it for gluten.

I'm hoping to eventually be healed inside enough to go back to cheese....

sounds like I should try it... I guess its that fine time in my life when one of my greatest loves of youth... ie the bowl of cereal! goes away... also the huge glass of milk with cookies or donuts... I used to drink so much milk and now its like a glass before bed and I wake up sick as a dog! I will try this.

Nope. It's the casein in milk that tears holes in my intestines.

One of our grandkids is also allergic to casein. It may not be all that uncommon. Unfortunately, most "non-dairy" substitutes do contain casein, as it does not affect lactose-intolerance.

Get stronger glasses for label reading, or stop buying "food" that has ingredient lists that need reading...

In the same boat as you, just reluctant to try it. Lactaid type pills never worked that well either. Some cheese is fine but I mainly stick to soy milk. Any advice for making a hot cocoa with abv? Without milk?

Will do.

Which probiotic brand should I get?

I know you used wafers, but do they have some kind of vitamin I could take instead?

Probably. Don't know. All I can relay is what I've used myself. I do know that there's a lot of different "strains" as well as strengths of probiotics. They're not all the same.

My dad raised me, so I grew up drinking milk everyday. Until he remarried when I was 15. That's when I was introduced to soda. I've been addicted ever since. Now every time I drink a glass of milk I end up suffering the next day or in the middle of the night. But I refuse to drink lactaid with my PB&J!!!
