Do they exist? My only experience with vaporization is with oils and wax. The only vaporizer I've owned thus far is an Omicron. As far as I know all extract vapes use heating elements to come in contact with the substance. I'm not familiar with vaporizers that do herb and extract, how do they vape oil and wax?

Here's a Hammer example, oil is placed in the cotton near the stem.

I think the Firewood 2.0+ is a good choice for more discrete usage, the Elevape seems to be aiming for it as well.

Check out the e-nano. You need to be plugged in to use it, but will work well with concentrates.

Well in short, no not really - you're *mostly* (and I use that lightly) limited to conduction with concentrates

The problem with convection units and concentrates is that it requires a powerful vaporizer capable of putting out constant high heat and it requires a good medium to hold the oils when they melt which seems to be the tricky part. Most vaporizers employ some sort of stainless steel mesh to hold the hot viscus oil, I've heard some manufacturers mention using fritted discs as a medium in passing but haven't seen any make it into production (that doesn't mean any haven't been produced, the Versa infinity might have one?, does Healthstone glass fall into this category? You be the judge!).

Nearly any convection vape can be used for concentrates when using a bed of stainless steel or gold wool, a cut up purpose-made concentrate pad, organic cotton or degummed hemp fibers to hold the oils. I had little luck SS wool although some users swear by both types of wool, I haven't gotten to try purpose made concentrate pads in any vape yet so I can't comment on their efficiency. The Herbalizer and Volcano come to mind when thinking of vapes that use convection to vaporize concentrates with a ss mesh pad; of course other vapes can do this as well, these are just the two that come to my mind. I have not tried the hemp fibers either but after extensively testing cotton I've come to the conclusion that it isn't a good medium for a long-term solution. I still use cotton occasionally because it works so well, especially in a vape like the E-Nano but I can definitely tell that there's cotton in the bowl. I've used the cotton that users here have sworn by in addition to some stuff I've found locally and haven't been happy with any after a lot of use.

The best medium I've found is just plain 'ol herb, just drop a dab on a small bed of herb and it'll vape for days. This is the most efficient way I've found to use concentrates aside from dabbing or using the VXN (which I no longer have) and it should work well in both desktop and portable units.
