Discontinued Zion vaporizer

This is the best we have so far, from page 7 of this thread.

Funny, all that chanting caused Joe Cocker to take over the music player in my head. Something about help from my friends... ;)

Impressive ' Exhale ' .

I'd still would like to see a slightly longer usage vid ,
where they show the inhale process . ( with empty lungs )
Say a few words , before inhaling on camera .
That would ' remove ' any doubt , that the user
took a hit from another vape , then attached mouth to
the vape on vid , and started the shoot .

My personal apologies to @RastaBuddhaTao .
I'm sure you have a real actual product to be released .
I was just commenting on the video style , which
btw I have brought up on other threads . I REALLY like
the 1 angle camera shoot with NO editing that you've put out already .
Just a few seconds longer , say a few words before inhaling .

Good luck with your launch .

Well I have to let @thekarmawhore intro you to the final design... But I will post an informative video of the 2x4 later today.

Couldja turn your phone on its side? Pretty please?

I'm pleased to introduce you to the latest reincarnation of the Zion and hope you like the form it has taken. Your feedback is directly influencing the design.

This is actually the proper orientation for most usage.

Remember...it's portable, not necessarily pocketable. That comes next :brow:

Kerozen gets a big attaboy for the lid suggestion, though it wasn't the only feedback of this nature we received from the beta unit testers, it certainly helped to solidify the idea that this thing needed a lid. One awesome dinner, one team ski trip and several attitude adjustments later, it all came together.

Open source, community driven product development. That's what we're doing here folks, and it seems to be working out pretty good, at least from where this karmawhore sits.

Y'all have a great weekend!

Gosh, I hardly know what to say. That is beautiful. That gorgeous wood helps, but geeze that is something. Great Job, TKW. Very impressive. Just WOW.

Now, when can I TRY one? :)

Edit: I see no port anywhere, so I assume that the batteries need to be taken out to charge in a charger. Will you be including one as an option, or will it come with in the base price? I have a couple chargers around but none that have impressed me much...

@thekarmawhore @RastaBuddhaTao you guys are seriously raising the standard in the vaporizer community! Other new companies would do well from following your example. I can't wait to get my hands on the Zion, I haven't been this excited for a vape since my herbalizer last year! And as long as I can store it in my backpack and hold in one hand without looking like a cellphone from the 90's, it has all the discreetness I'll ever need. What are the dimensions for that bad boy? And does my little eye spy magnetic back plate and lid?! ( I love that concept)

I think you've nailed it! It seems most of us are on board with portable and it even looks decently pocketable actually. The lid really ties it to together for the pocketability, only other thing is I forget if there is a power switch like firefly? To prevent accidentally pressing the fire switch?

Once again, really really can't wait to get my hands on one of these. I like how the batteries and charging is all separate (I wonder if Samsung 25Rs would work as well, or likely stofm to Sonys). The Zion may actually be number one in the most wanted list for me above GH even..

One word: wow!

Like we discussed in PM I think leaving all the charging logic and IC out of the picture is a wise choice. Keep the complexity and cost to the minimum and eventually offer a charger as an option for those who don't already own one. Balance charging is not that trivial to do properly on top of that...

@Shit Snacks might have a point with the power switch, even if it's not a big deal for me (I would store it in a bag and not in my pockets anyway)

Now my last remaining concern, as someone joked about already, is just that I bloody hope that you are not the Versa Infinity guys in disguise, as I have the same kind of "too good to be true" impression!

Balance charging was the first thing that I thought of when I saw this. It's not only not easy to do, it's vital to the survival of the batteries. If the cells get out of balance, one will kill the other. This seems inevitable to me if they can be separated easily. Most two-slot chargers won't necessarily produce a balanced charge, they need to be designed to do so. The only way I can see around this would be circuitry that draws from only one battery at a time. @RastaBuddhaTao, how will you handle this?

It is a handsome design, though.

This unit ticks a lot of boxes aesthetically. The lid really adds to that. I am mostly a concentrates guy but I do enjoy my Solos (2), and The Bender, and am sure I will love my Nano. (When it arrives today, hope).
I'm thinking the wood will give the whole experience a very organic touch. Also the use of renewable resources is very responsible. I am very intrigued and exited to try this unit.

Agreed. Speaking of which, have you finalized the dimensions of the Zion or are they still to be determined?

Currently it's a little under 2.5" in both width and depth, and under 5" in height. Adding the lid caused a little bit of growth over the previous version due to having to interface the lid with the largest diameter in the taper and maintain a minimum wall thickness at the same time. Rethinking the manufacturing processes actually caused a slight reduction in depth over the previous versions, so it didn't grow as much as it could have.

The following review is from one of the 2x4 beta testers. They persuaded me to go with the wooden body and have been instrumental in every step of the design process since the initial testing of the technology. As she alludes to in her write-up what we set out to do was to simply take the performance of a high end Convection home vaporizer with a simple temperature control and make it portable. In talking with them there friends called it a "portable DaBuddha" and said... "I like the taste of this, it's similar to my Volcano" which tells me we did a pretty decent job of accomplishing that goal...

Thanks for for all the help and support in making Zion a reality guys... You guys Rock harder than Rob Zombie on crack.

Zion prototype 2x4 unit number 2 initial review
So...I am a HUGE FAN of the Zion 2x4! Let me explain...My husband and I began using a vape about 2 years ago, we did our research and spent $250 on a home plug in unit...I love it! In fact we love to vape so much we began to look for a portable device to NO AVAIL. All had the same problem...battery life and power which could not even come close to our home unit and though money was not an option, wasting money was. We were so unimpressed with units out there that we finally decided to spend $80 on an inverter for our car so we could take our home unit on the road. Although at the time this was our only option it was cumbersome and not very stealth! A big pain in the ass until now...enter the Zion 2x4! We were lucky enough to be part of a beta testing for this unit and so happy we decided to participate. This unit addressed our main issues...battery life and power as well as being an ACTUAL portable device we could take along on our journeys. In fact we often use it at home because of its portability. We can pass the unit rather than having to get up to go to the plug in unit. We have enjoyed it with friends in our home as well as with people on the road. Everyone has been pleasantly surprised by this unit. We typically have 4 people using the unit at any one time. With continued use the batteries have lasted a whopping 6-8 hours addressing battery life. We can typically get 12-14 loads with 6-8 draws per load depending on the lung capacity of your guests lol...amazing! I am not big on the "cloud issue" but if that's your thing you can definitely make some huge clouds! We have seen it done. It fits nicely in your hand, love the unassuming wood design and put to the test consistently works well every time! Don't let the small stature fool you, this unit works as well as our large plug in unit. We love it and are so looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Thank you Zion, keep up the good work! This unit ROCKS‼️

More confirmation of what I suspected, the portable desktop unit. Don't think its possible for me to want this anymore...

Deaign looks stunning, well thought out and I think its perfect (and actually still plenty stealthy...)

I'm sure these are early and will change, but they intend to offer choice in stains and colors. Not sure about different wood choices.

Things change fast at RBT.. One of the early learnings with the 2x4s is that even with Eco stain there still was an smell and taste is stain. Even with a post bake $ is still was detectable... Absolutely not acceptable! New path is a food grade NSF approved tongue oil called Mystery Oil which is used to maintain butcher blocks. It gives a satin protective costing that really makes the grain pop. So rather than a stain option we will be offering different woods eventually but will start off with maple and clear glass. This will allow us to keep it simple and give the first serialized group of 100 units a distinctly simple signature which embodies RBT. Same with the glass, variety will come with time. This will allow us to address some size differences in the glass that could cause fit issues in production. Never want to sacrifice quality for quantity.

Pak thanks for the input. The batts are in series and are removed from the unit for charging. We will have a list of approved batteries based on our testing. Our results so far indicate a nice even degradation rate on battery sets. We will require that batteries are a brand new matched pair and are labeled as such. We will also require that the position in the unit be alternated. There will also be guidelines given for change and discharge limits and recommended that a volt meter be purchased to be used in conjunction with the unit. These are just some early thoughts. We will review this topic with the FC Beta Team. Hope to get the invite out to you and some other folks this weekend.

peace! Rbt

Oh man oh man.... with those specs thats all the portability and stealth ill ever need.

@RastaBuddhaTao and @thekarmawhore you guys don't know what you're doing to us FCers! those initial 100 units are going to FLY off the shelves!!! I vow to sit at my computer desk until these go on sale to garuntee i get one!!!

Lol rest assured your unit is already ear marked low in the serial number list ;)

We feel it best to extend the beta test with experienced users and a larger sample size to ensure we catch and fix every little issue to ensure the highest quality and best customer satisfaction. Going slow now will ensure we have a solid future so please be patient all but we do Love the enthusiasm.

And by all means take your time, as much as it will kill me to wait, i understand you guys have to cover your bases to ensure a smooth process, and i think all of us here at FC can respect that kind of diligence. I wish you guys at RBT all the luck in the world.
