If anyone is curious about what a nectar collector is or how to use one, this is a great reference. These alternative dab rigs use a vertical vaporizing process that supposedly helps you gauge your intake of concentrates without wasting your supply.

That tutorial is pretty meh Imo...

I just don't see what the hell they're talking about with
"allows the user to gauge their dab intake perfectly every time, without having to worry about excess concentrates being wasted during your hits."
Umm how?
Either you measure out your dab beforehand, and you can gauge your dab intake just like any other dab, or you jam the nectar collector in a large pool of oil and slurp up as much as you want - which id argue is the most potentially wasteful method...

And they don't even hint or mention at the thing that sketches me out most about nectar collectors, how easy is it for that red hot nail to fall out of the nectar collector, and into your lap?

Measure out dab on slickpad, heat Ti tip of Nectar Collector, rip away.
I don't know about the above claims, but my Nectar Collector fucking rules.

My Ti fell out once onto my slickpad, but one time out of thousands of uses.
I own an enail and my Nectar Collector still sees daily use and, imo, provides the quickest medication method for my dab use. I HIGHLY recommend fwiw.

Edit: I can only speak for an actual Nectar Collector made by WGW/Kristian Merwin, not the cheap knockoffs that are on DHGate and the like.

Honestly a nectar collector is in no way going to save you material, there will always just be remains/claim on your dish when you think about it, and contact with the nectar tip also makes the surrounding dab/dish heated and effected (unless u remove one dab each time you use the collector). There is also no way of low temping with it effectively compared to a normal cap setup. I think the best use of the nectar collector for fellow fc'ers is using it as a water tool- the splashguard on the v2 (on dhgate) looks nice too.

Hmmm my big concern with Nectar Collector type dabbing is that if you use the heat-the-Nectar-Collector-and-run-it-over-a-big-pool-of-errrl method, you are gonna decarb the surrounding oil with the heat conducted by the tip of the collector. Sure it may not be a huge amount but I do a lot of work to ensure that my oils are the cleanest tastiest and least decarbed possible. I don't wanna potentially ruin that by my method of ingestion!

Still, for small dabs and especially on the go, I could see nectar collectors being a really handy design :D

No offense, but this fellow FC'er is more than content to use his Nectar Collector as designed(not on top of some janky glass as a splashguard). I would not claim this way leaves no residue/reclaim behind, but it certainly is not excessive when used on a Slickpad or similar, and measuring out the right amount of your concentrate. Even with an enail you get claim build up in a drop down or in your rig. I would never dump a gram in a dish and just slurp around, IMO, that's just sloppy and wasteful.

Pairing it with DHGate V2 :puke:

My NC gets equal split time use with my enail. The NC is my go-to for quick, fast, hard-hitting medicating.

@herbivore21 -- For on the go, look at the Nectar Collector Honey Badgers. Much less of an investment loss if you drop it while on the go. Just no water filtration. That's what my friends and I used at the HT CC last year. Only glass tipped, no titanium for these "cheapys" though.

I was suggesting pairing it as a water tool with a vaporizer, like using it instead of the PNWT

Cheers for the pointers brother! :)

I would be very hesitant to use a blowtorched ti tip to collect off an oil slick for fear of trying to collect whilst the tip is too hot. I would be petrified of collecting more than just the nectar! :tinfoil:

Meh--platinum cured, medi grade silicone, plus I don't overdo the heat. Not too worried for my own, but I can appreciate anyone else's concerns for their own bodies.

I get ya man, I use oil slicks too, but they are only rated for use up to 500f/260c and I find you need to dab hotter than this to get good vaporization even on the most evenly heated of enails with the best carb caps. The lowest I use on any enail I've ever had was 600f and that was on ceramic! Also you are not meant to use metal tools on oil slicks as they can degrade the protective layer.

Not telling you what to do or anything man, nothing but respect here :) but I would really be closely looking at your oil slicks that you have used in this way for damage... I have damaged oil slicks just by being too vigorous with a cool ti dabber :2c:

Just got the rotating Nectar Collector stand off my buddy.
I think mine has another set of gears as it's three pieces not 2 like in the picture.
Happy days!! Traded an old salt water pump for one of those outdoor blow up pools.

I just googled cheap Nector Collector 2.0 and found some really cheap, damnit, like http://www.dhgate.com/store/product/high-quality-nectar-collector-2-0-honey-straw/241964287.html

Does any one get shit cheap from this site?

Yep, but you need to get to know the different vendors that operate under that heading. Realize that you are buying at one of the lowest price points out there and that you are ordering from a place almost halfway around the world. All of that said I have a few pieces that I really like and recommend. Good Luck

I have the NC 1.0. It's a beast. The tip has never slid out. Seems firmly jointed even when I'm removing it.

Honestly though, my piece that gets the heaviest use is the Honey Badger straw, by the same artists. We put it through an enormous amount of use; it's wicked quick and easy plus it's fun to introduce people to it. A lot smoother than they expect with no water filter. Mine is boro but I'm going for the quartz version soon. It's great for new clients & patients who are unfamiliar with concentrates because it's just straightforward.

We created our own dab dishes. Just take the top from a Yankee Candle type jar candle, slap one of the round stickers they send (with your order) onto the top and flip it over.
