I made another thread recently asking for vape suggestions and I got a number of people telling me to look into log vapes. Now I will admit I have never seen one in real life or even heard of them until I came on here. That said, I looked some of them up and not only are they rather expensive ($200 in some cases) but just looking at them they seem...underwhelming. Especially when compared to something like a SSV or Volcano. Like I said tho I have no experience with a log vape, so are they any good in your opinion? Is this a case of not judging a book by its cover?

Theyre awesome cuz they are simple...easy on the eyes..use very little herb and rip like beasts!

Sounds like your into more electronic stuff...i think of the solo as a sort of electronic log vape cuz its look and works similarly.

I own an underdog...it ks very far from underwhelming! It is very different though...i own a few electronic vapes and a log and although i love em all...logs might bt be for some ppl...but if you love getting ripped off a small amount of weed...logs are epic (pun intended)

I think of Logs like a vape lighter...when ever you want instant vapor just insert stem and pull

compared to something like a SSV or Volcano
Log vape, SSV, and Volcano. That's kind of 'all over the place', in the world of vaporizer types. The SSV will provide big hits- that's what it's made for. You can take whatever size hit you want from the 'cano, but as far as taste they'll all be the same- slightly stale IMO. A log vape like the E-Nano can deliver small hits via the included stem, larger hits with the same, or larger yet with the optional gong adapter and a glass piece.
Is this a case of not judging a book by its cover?
I'd say it's more a case of your own perception of what a vaporizer should look like.
not only are they rather expensive ($200 in some cases)
The Volcano is rather expensive (to put it mildly), especially for a one trick pony. $200 is not expensive in the home vape market these days. With the e-nano you also get, as an FC member, a 10% discount code and a lifetime warranty.

Log vapes are certainly underestimated. I shrugged them off when I first started looking into desktop vapes (I mean really, who would leave a vape running for 6+ hours at a time??) - but now that I have one, I couldn't imagine life without it!

Unlike every other vape I own (about a handful, mostly portable electric vapes), my Nano can provide as much heat as I need. Doesn't matter if I hit it hard, or slow. Fast, or long and drawn out, the Nano keeps up!

My nano was so damn powerful, that it cured any desire I had to find a bigger 'more powerful' vape. It fits my needs to cloud chase with my friends.

And as others have said $200 is not expensive for a vape, in fact, I would say it's right around the average price for a solid performing vape.

Interesting. So are you saying that the nano is good at providing big clouds? Cuz that would definitely be a plus. How is it with efficiency and highness, compared to say a bong bowl?

Also I am indeed attracted to something electronic but I am willing to be persuaded otherwise. What would be the benefit of getting a log over a DBV or SSV?

Lol, oooo you can cloud chase with any log vaporizer. But the question you need to ask is if you will medicate as efficiently if you cloud chase (blowing big clouds means you wasted most of that vapor!)

As much as I love to cloud chase, I try to control myself and take smaller rips. In terms of efficiency, I typically fill my nano with about 0.1g and I get at least 1 solid milking hit, and a second solid semi-milky hit. There's quite a few milkshot videos on youtube of the Nano

It's a vaporizer, you can't compare it to a combustion bong rip........

I go where the thrills are
To put it simply the enano is one of the most efficient vapes on the market. And if it is clouds you are after an enano is more than up to the task. Yes, the enano has enough kick to make you very stoopid too. Much enano porn over on the enano thread. :brow:

There's pretty much nothing the Nano can't do...huge clouds, light vapor, connect to water tools, taste great straight. As Steama says it's efficient, in every sense...extremely conservative, and can extract thoroughly due to an impressive temp range.

It's simple, small, beautiful, unique (each unit is different), versatile, powerful, efficient, easy to use....you can stash your other desktops in your closet (I did), because you won't use 'em anymore. I don't know from other log vapes, but I've used enough desktops to know one thing: the Nano fucking rules. Oh, and it's reasonably priced. Icing!

Am I the only one seeing AirCores for 119?

I think a log is definitely worth the 199 dollar price though. Underdogs are great vapes and deliver delicious bountiful clouds. While also being extremely efficient, easily capable of producing clouds from nearly nothing.

So nice to have a vape with such a small footprint, whenever people are over it is being used as an Aromatherapy device. Essential oils smell great and pure and fill the entire area with the aroma very quickly. Underdogs are great for how unique each one is, I have another one and its always nice having them in other areas around the home or even both going at once.

Check the last few pages of the Enano thread. @Enchantre just posted a video of some serious clouds using the Enano for concentrates.

I wasn't unlike you when I started looking for vapes. I thought my options were something with as many bells and whistles as possible like the Volcano or something cobbled together from an E-cig. I thought the more electronics, the better. Then I saw a video for the E-nano out YouTube. It was small, it was pretty, it could produce monster clouds, the temp control was variable and it wasn't $70 or $700.

Then I started reading the thread and saw people reporting back their experiences with it. After a few days browsing the forums, I had no doubts about pulling the trigger and making the E-nano my first vape. 3 months of daily use and I have no regrets about my choice. I love this thing soooo much.

May I ask where you picked that UFO up from? Cool little device- if I'm not mistaken, that will make a bubbler from a drinking glass.

Log vapes are pretty cool but I would like to point out some weaknesses (in current models). Such as:

-No ambient temp sensor (so performance varies depending on how hot or cold it is)
-Requires stirring (many vapes are like this but some are not actually)
-Requires grinding (same as above, also vaping a whole bud in the bowl then breaking it up doesn't count)
-Can singe or blacken top of load at higher temps (I would call this uneven vaping)

Some of these are tradeoffs for what you get out of a log, a much more "manual" experience, versatility with size, unrestricted airflow (larger clouds from smaller loads). Personally I would like to see a new log vape that employs some more airflow trickery, perhaps maybe a multiple small hole airflow system like on the Lotus or herbalAire.

How much are you loading that you're getting all this uneven vaping. I never stir my UD bowls and they come out cool.

Those are all valid points

Note, I plan on experimenting with 3D printed porcelain stems for the Nano. I might be able to produce some extremely exotic designs to take full advantage of that convection airflow. Maybe through a series of air channels to direct the airflow lower into the load before exiting the stem..... :science: (Just waiting on shapeways to release porcelain 3D printing material before I can start designing!)

Okay I made a quick video illustrating my point: https://vid.me/K2eq

I actually did this pretty well once, but because I was shooting on instagram video and I sent it directly, I had no way to export it out of the phone, very sad. Anyway, vape video shooting is progressively more difficult and time consuming as it goes on heh.

So I used around 0.053g @ 7.25 temp. You can see the top of the bowl is more browned than the rest after this hit. (sorry AVB shots are hard to see, need a macro setup instead of phone.) I'm not a big fan of that because it's gonna get some parts more roasted than others in the final product, even with stirring, cause stirring isnt perfect (can't put the bottom on the top perfectly). Also I feel like the hits get a chocolate taste to them which obscures the taste of strain.

They definitely appear to be lacking something when compared to a lot of other modern vapes, and I was with you on thinking it looked kind of primitive, and not my style, but the e-nano quickly changed my mind. Being able to milk any glass piece with 0.05g for 2-3 clouds, is amazing. I also think the pure convection is great for only tasting the flavor of the herb you are currently vaping, and not residue tat already tastes/smells like avb. No cleaning of the vape is very nice too. Check out some milkshot videos of it.

My recommendation for a beastly combo is the e-nano paired with a gb-186 from dhgate (seller yingmin5).
You'll be able to rip huge clouds with minimal harshness. I'd pick up one each of 14mm and an 18mm (sold as 19mm on epicvape) GonGs so you can use any piece.

.5g is a huge bowl. You can rip clouds with 0.05g and an e-nano. sometimes even less, depending on the bud

The bigger the bowl, the more uneven it would vape, due to the top being so much closer to the heater than the bottom, in an application where millimeters make a big difference.

Try rocking/spinning the vape while you're hitting it.

Or spinning the gong while holding the vape at the right position. If it is a tight fit, or gets stuck, I'd avoid moving it so much tho. It depends on the individual joint size and gong build.

Sorry yeah it was .053g I think, not .5g... yeah checked video, it was. Hehe, whoops yeah one zero makes a big diff.

I know some people don't, but I actually enjoy stirring up the bowl between hits.

It can be an enjoyable part of the ritual, I especially enjoy it on my Lotus when I pull off the cap, give a quick stir, then cap back on, it's very satisfying.

That being said it is another step, another part of the process that for some people means a delay in medication. And for people who have arthritis, carpal tunnel, RSI issues in their hands, it's really not great at all.

I have a couple E-nanos. I'm a sufferer of Vaporizer Aquisition Syndrome, or VAS. I actually have many vaporizers, and I like to switch them in and out of rotation. But I always come back to E-nano. What appeals to me, is that I can leisurely load and sip the flavor of the bud at low temp, crank'er up a tad and get a few hits more, and finish off about 7.5. So I'm getting the full range of cannabinoids on a very small load.

Do I do the above always? No way. Sometimes I want a big hit o' fresh up high to get high. But I appreciate the journey: sometimes fast, sometimes slow and easy: you decide as opposed to a fixed heat setting.
