Maybe a video of patient Using it or a old school smoker that has never vaped before

That would be cool... Get some people together and pass and pack till the battery dies.

I strongly suspect that's not a possible use scenario. I think the MP will become too hot in a few minutes of such non stop use. A few hits at a time (with time to cool between) is 'more it's speed'.

They've mentioned, I think, the Ti version will have a slight advantage here (heat), so it seems reasonable to think it's an identified problem.

I kind of enjoy these anticipation threads. Nothing like a bit of spirited debate amongst fellow vapor enthusiasts lol
This is the sad state that the grasshopper has left us in. We think this is an anticipation thread, when it should be a device thread, now WHERE IS THIS VAPORIZER WE WERE ALL PROMISED SO LONG AGO?

Am i mistaken? there was claims of some sort of insulation that will keep the vape cool under use? there was that whole section on this thread or was it another thread but still. Im more interested in that insulation as that was a major eye opener for me as to what could they be using that many if not all of the big guys have not tried.

There is no information one way or the other, just speculation and opinions.

I recall they specified an "unnamed material". Probably unobtainium.

The insulation has been mentioned several times in this thread at various points, but nobody from Grasshopper has gone into any amount of detail regarding what it could be. I'd be really interested to hear some data on it, because as I understand the usage scenario, there is only one type of insulation commercially available that could fit this bill and it would cost almost as much as the vape itself.

I know that's what they said, but that just doesn't make sense to me. If they had developed some sort of new insulation that could surpass what is currently available on the market they have defeated an industry and could be making billions with it. If it was developed by one of the major innovators in this space, it would not be offered first and exclusively to a marijuana vaporizer company, it would go right into military, aerospace and industrial use long before it made it into consumer products.

Right now the major hot word in thermal insulation is "aerogel" and that's where all of the innovation is being focused on right now. Aerogel has insane thermal characteristics that would be ideal for a small vaporizer like this, as it can create an essentially heat impermeable layer in a very small space. It was originally developed by NASA to protect the Space Shuttle from the incredible amount of heat generated during craft re-entry. This video demonstrates it well, as people handle red hot blocks of aerogel with their bare hands. Though the internal temperature is several thousands of degrees, the outer layer of aerogel cools quickly and the extremely low thermal transmission rate prevents stored heat from being radiated too fast.

The only problem is that this stuff is expensive and it is fragile. A coin sized piece of aerogel (>3cm diameter by 0.7mm thick) costs 35$USD and the Airloys (alloys of aerogel and plastic that can be machine formed) are close to 90$. This is a big industry material, not something you see on a 100$ commercial device.

@CentiZen i agree with you 100%, but the one thing that does not add up is, the space between the walls and the bowl, aerogel as far as i understand it requires a little bit of thickness to do its job. Oh well we shall wait and see.

Looking at the latest rendering where the bowl is part of the main unit, and based on this info posted by @peaceonearth a couple pages back, I'm going to say the insulation is a "very special" glass-filled material.

:)

Q: Are there any materials along the vapor path other than stainless steel or glass? And is the steel surgical grade?

A: "The air path is almost all stainless. It is a medical grade. There is a small amount of a very special material that is molded to form the funnel. This is a glass filled material that has a continuous operating temperature of 300C. Safety is very important to us."

i'm with @THC SCIENTIFIC - there is no room in a sharpie size vape to put in any insulation ... maybe a peltier cooler, but that would suck the battery dry in minutes. air gap, or ideally a vacuum - like a thermos.

You guys ever think that the designers could have had a secret meeting with advanced alien beings? I am betting on that, I mean those spaceships I been seeing at night are redic!
