i remember seeing persei at vapor warehouse blowout section for 99

Edit. It's still there. Not sure what version.
Another thing to consider. If you plan on using the Herc, you may fry the top. The older tops were designed before the Herc, and the electronics are not as forgiving of a mis-assembled Herc. There may also be the fact that those tops do not have the "low battery lockout" voltages.:worms:

Wow , the prices have dropped since the last time
I followed this thread . I'd stopped b/c I got the Omi-lite
and was very happy with it until it conked out ( after 18 mths )
Thanx for the info guys .
I use the omi lite and Persei with herc to complement each other. Need a lil morning pick me up, I love the omi lite and kiss carts with a tiny dab of shatter. When it's time to crash for the evening or want to get super elevated, I only need 3 20 second draws on the herc 74x with many cool down hits, to get extremely medicated.

I have lost motivation for the rig, torch, and nail. Taste is so much better with the herc and you don't need a loud torch to get the Quartz banger heated. Plus the visual discretion.

Good eye ,
I will prepare myself with some fresh batteries beforehand .
But I also noticed on Delta9 site , they have the Ti persei version for
$ 129 . That should be the newest version . So for $ 30 diff .
o decisions time ...

Plus you can use the coupon code "w9tech" and get another 10% off the sale price.

I would either buy from W9 direct, or go with the vaporwarehouse deal, since both are great prices with great support and a valid warranty. If you buy from W9, i would assume you get the latest model(well, probably not the V4 top).

I have a question about the V4 top.

I was using my persei on the run, and when I was pressing the button it lit up red a couple times, but it was still working. Is the red light a low battery indicator?

I think that's what it's supposed to be. I have gotten it lots of times when my batteries weren't dead though too. It kind of goes off at random sometimes like the occasional thrice blinking lights, especially when I am using the core with that wobbly connection. I almost always charge my batteries long before they hit that warning level anyways. 3.7v = dead battery IMO, don't think those warning blinks start coming into effect till like 3.4

About the core guys. I use my core facing my left, me on the right, without any problems. The other way gives me problems. Hoping that user report can help others enjoys their core :)

Could be a long wait for some but to those that are mad about the way...first of all shutup about it...because the v4 top is for sure worth it. I got lucky getting mine here on the classifieds. Its fucking awesome. So wait and dont give @THC SCIENTIFIC shit about it or ill find you and put combusted regs in your favorite piece.

So I was hoping to hold off on buying anything else until the alpha c came out but w. The Persei not coming back in stock for 2 months im assuming the same wait on that..?

Anyways I'm trying to figure out the difference between the kiss mini & the kiss I have. Is it just that the bottom where the cup is doesn't unscrew anymore and just the mouthpiece separates ?

The cup is smaller in diameter than the standard Kiss cart. The mouth piece only separates at the top though so you can fill the Kiss mini with more than a dab at a time and it won't leak. This means the Kiss Mini doesn't have to be load as you go unless that is your preference.

Hammer top serial h281 checking in.... seems i have to double tap the button to fire. only using with 3.7 sr 74. Not a big deal unless its a sign that somethings gonna crash. @THC SCIENTIFIC , any thoughts or is it just a bug and its fine? Im cool with it for now, just making sure im not looking at catastrophic failure in the coming weeks.

Just got a TI kiss cart with ego 1100mah c-twist. The kiss cart was the best thing I ever tried coming from atmos rx and gentlemens brand. I am in love with the kiss cart. Can't wait what the future holds with the kiss alpha!!

The Hammer Top is really built like a tank we have had a few go down, but still not enough to worry because of reliability %.

As for pressing it twice only thing i can think of is maybe the switch internals, but this too has to be verified by us as that is the only way possible.

On the other hand doubt its gonna go down, but if you do not like it send it in and if its in warranty we will repair it.

There is so much useful information in this thread from so many different people over hundreds of pages.... we really need to make a "best of" thread for the persei/hercules/kiss to aid newcomers, it might help cut down on some of the many repeat questions I see asked. I would definitely be willing to contribute in some fashion or another. We've probably all been too distracted by using the hercules then trying to find out any new info on the alpha c and such but still, I think this is a worthy endeavor.
The center post of the SR-71 is a press fit design and makes electrical contact on the side of the rod, with the contact strips on the heating rod. The press fit design causes a few components of the bottom assembly to come apart when you disassemble it, as the heating rod and center post tend to stay together when you pull it apart. The SR-74 is easier to service as it uses a spring-loaded center pin, that makes contact with the bottom of the heating rod, as opposed to the side. The rod stays with the upper chamber and the center post always stays with the bottom assembly when you separate the chambers, making the -74 easier to scoop reclaim out of if you haven't dialed in your cooldown technique.

SR-71 tends to function better when bathed in oil; neglected; etc. There is no spring loaded pin to get gummed up with oil, although when adjusted correctly the SR-74 is also extremely reliable even when dirty. The bottom insulator of the SR-71 was a mechanical flathead screw adjustable design; the SR-74 was a double spring loaded pin design. Newer SR-74x we've gone back to the solid, SR-71 style bottom adapter due to the increased reliability of that design. (In case anyone out there has the -74 style spring loaded bottom insulator, and wants to upgrade to the mechanical, adjustable bottom insulator; open a ticket and I'll help you out; http://www.w9tech.com/vaporizer-contact-us/ )

The SR-74 heating rod has a higher resistance (in the neighborhood of 2.3Ω IIRC) as compared to the SR-71 (at 1.5-1.7Ω). Sorry if these may be slightly off, I'm not looking them up anywhere just recalling what I see on my own personal meter (although I have multiple heating rods and some of them may be slightly higher or lower resistance than the next, they are all within a certain tolerance range). This means that either the usage technique or applied voltage needs to be different between the two.

Either SR series unit can use either style heating coil, stainless steel or titanium, although I think the consensus at this point is that the Ti coil is superior to the stainless steel coils that required trimming, both in ease of use and in flavor. The Ti coils simply require a slight squish to create an interference fit, and they'll last a long time- one of the two coils in my -71 right now originally came in my -74 I purchased a year ago, and I've put well over an ounce of oil through that coil... Cleaned via iso soak, boiling, torching...

In addition to new post styles, @THC SCIENTIFIC has changed up the chamber lengths with each iteration. The SR-74x's rod protrusion depth seems to be perfectly optimized for one Ti coil, and really shines in this configuration; while past models like the SR-71 worked well with more coil length (the rod protruded further into the chamber). Experienced users, and those who tend to use their Hercules personally (instead of sharing w/others who might dump oil) usually don't need to separate the chambers nearly as often as 'newbies' or people using the Herc in a group setting; and often prefer the reliability of the -71. People new to the herc and who share it might prefer the ease of maintenance, disassembly, and assembly that comes with the spring loaded parts of the newer -74 and -74x models. Either group of users will appreciate the performance with one Ti coil on the newest SR-74x chambers.

I came into the whole thing with the SR-74, bought the x upgrade; and only much later came across a -71 in a smokeshop and have been able to try all three SR series personally; though I had my hands on the original Hercules 3.7 and 7.4V versions with tanks; never got to use those guys, sadly...
I definitely like the idea of consolidating information, and thanks Sam for clarifying differences between 71 and 74/x. While trying to search Herc or Hercules to read up on how it's changed over time (cutting coils etc) as well as the different uses between 7.4v and 3.7v ceramic rods (whether one or the other is for dry herb with concentrates), I realized there seems to be a limit of returning 200 posts or 10 pages in a search. So, all the info for searching "Herc" or "Hercules" was from two months ago or newer.

A "Best Of" addition could help as suggested, or even having separate forum threads for the carts & attachments themselves to consolidate older info.

Just came back from Vegas!! Busted a all night adventure with my close friends. SR71+8 is my weapon of choice. One load lasted me all night. Came back to the suite around 8am after soo much fun. Still had more hits left in the SR71. Took easily over 50-70 hits thru the night. 1 gram.

I went to use my kiss cart (7.4v) and the persei seems like it is working fine but the cart won't fire I think I might have fried the kiss cart? Can anyone tell me how to check with my multi meter and what it should read. Thanks
