Yes, that should work just fine. I would however recommend changing out the PVC tubing that comes with it with silicone tubing as it's much more pliable and easier to work with. :2c:

Thank you very much for your advice much appreciated.

As I mentioned above, when I got my serviced crafty back the other day, it came with an additional, albeit used (and dirty, but since cleaned) cooling unit. QUESTION: is there a difference in cooling units with the new Craftys? Should I use the cooling unit I had or the second one s and b sent to me? Any thoughts would be appreciated? Thanks.

The only change I've noticed between cooling units is the color of the o-rings. According to an earlier post SB hasn't made any physical changes to the unit. I did notice a change with the filling tool. In the original the clear plastic piece that goes in the middle was just a hollow tube, but now the newer one has a bottom. Now when I dump the contents of my grinder into the filling tool anything that falls in the middle I can just lift up that piece and dump it into the rest of the chamber. Before if any material fell in the middle I had to unscrew the bottom piece and carefully dump it around the edges.

it sounds like mine is a newer one since it has a bottom. yay!

I'm pretty sure the manual advised against packing the oven too much. The liquid pad is to be used if you're not filling the oven all the way to the top. The crafty being a convection Vape, requires a looser pack so it can maintain good airflow. If you start packing really tight, the performance will suffer, and draw resistance will go up.

I've always filled the oven to the top, I usually never even tamp it, just level it down, and I get mega clouds every time. Doctor sleeps problem might well be the quality flowers.

you are supposed to pack the oven full, that's essentially what i'm saying, hence why the liquid pad is used to give it a tighter pack to get denser vape.

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right

Yes I have read the manual..

once again essentially what i'm saying
'if the filling chamber is only partially filled, then vaporization material may shift around;
the hot air then bypasses the vaporization material,
so that no vaporization can occur.'

maybe 'tight' was the wrong word but to be honest with you when i pack mine tight i notice i get considerably fatter/denser tasty vapor. Yes if you pack it too tight it may add a slight restriction to airflow but meh.

No posts in this thread all sunday, is everybody that satisfied with their craftys? I sure hope so because I just joined the club! What's the go-to travel case for this baby (smell-proof would be a bonus)?
Welcome to the club, sure you will not be dissapointed. Don't know who posted this but this is one of the cases suggested : http://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-Santi...424701004&sr=8-1&keywords=Lowepro+Santiago+20
Hope you enjoy your Crafty. Sorry I couldn't remember the name of the OP who found the case, too many helpful members on here to remember names.

By packing it tight, you're essentially putting more flowers in there. I'm gonna guess that this is why you get the denser vapor.

If packed tight with dry well ground flower and a "1/3 or piece of oil pad on top" or the elmomuzz cut screen method which is cutting one of the coarse screens down the middle so it sits on top of load, the vapor is very dense.

Guess I must have jinx'ed myself when I said be happy getting 75 hours out of these vaporizers. Unit Number #3 needs to be sent back with 41 hours on it. The plastic broke off that hold cooling unit in place. Works but doesn't make a good seal anymore in less I hold it in place.
Honestly not sure how i feel about this vaporizer. When it works its works great. But not really happy with sending them back so much for repairs. Plus it be nice if they would would answer the phone lol. Guess be another 7-10 days without a working unit.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it says that it's 3.3 x 1.4", and the crafty is 4.3 x 2.2" -- so I didn't see how that would fit. Then I noticed that there's another set of dimensions further down the page that makes more sense (4.9 x 1.4 x 3.3"). I've got some cases like that at home anyways, and was hoping for something with odor control. So I ordered this, it looks like it should fit but you never know (need to cut out the stuff):

Grokit...

Not sure if that case you bought offers odor control. If not, or for anyone else looking for a DIY solution for cases without odor control, here's what works fantastic for me...(don't laugh). Someone turned me on to this company a few years ago...

They make various pads and whatnot for people that have problems with flatulence or other disorders. It just so happens that they make these little, carbon patches that can be cut to size. I installed them in a few of my cases, cutting them to size and attaching them with double-sided tape. The patches are quite thin, so fit in cases fine. Works great with absolutely no odors escaping the case.

Here is the link to the specific patches for anyone interested...it will make any small case you use smell-proof

Yeah you could be right, the odor control of that one I purchased might only be in the removable pouch component of that case. Which I didn't notice until I took another look, today after it shipped :\

Btw, I would never laugh at that shit (pun intended :ko:), that could be me in a few years...

I have always been a bit of a neat freak when it comes to my vape ( or in the old days smoke...) toys and the pieces that go with. Not sure why because I'm a slob of the first order in the rest of life. :|

The idea of my little glass pieces just tumbling about in some pocket or bag, clanking against each other, or my spendy electronic vape toys just getting jumbled around taking shock after shock... that's never appealed to me at all. Just a stoner turn off for me.

I actually use three different casses depending on my needs for that day. Maybe at some point I could take pics or make a vid, but I'm really not very savvy in that area.

The first case, and the one I use the most, is a Pelican 1400. These are not cheap, mine was about $100. Now before you go all WTF? Lol, I use this case to hold just about everything my vape needs require. This is not my "on the go case". This is my around the house case. I have kids, and my wife is not a user, so where I use often changes around the house. It's seriously a pita to have to keep packing your stuff up over and over so I use the pelican for around the house. It's water proof up to some amount of feet I forget. It's VERY sturdy and is designed for guns and expensive equiptment.

This is the kind of case you would see roadies unloading off the trucks for bands and their expensive equiptment. Spendy, but it protects completely. This would NOT, however, be your on the go case. It's just way to conspicuous. Maybe if your just going to a friends. But I can't imagine lugging it around publicly for a day of fun with friends.

Inside you will find pick and pluck foam for total customizability. The foam in the lid means that when you close it down, everything will be nestled in foam and cradled like a baby. In this "kit" I keep my Crafty, the Crafty white and blue extra charge pack, my usb cord, a spare usb cord, 2 filling tools, 1 grinder, 3 flower containers, my brush, a tube with all my cleaning tools, a jewelry eye piece ( cuz I love looking at buds. lol ) eye drops, and here is the fun part, because I'm not always in the same mood or vape situation, also in the case, I keep a Jhook, a nice lil bubbler with a water tight bottle filled with water to fill the bubbler, a EQ Bag adapter to be able to use both with the crafty, and a coil of high temp tubing so that if I want to further cool and go whip style with either the Jhook or the bubbler, I can. I even have a spot in the case that holds the crafty snugly, while still allowing it to breath, as I use it like a table top with my whip set up. Hands free.

So this thing is perfect for my home use.

Now if I'm going over to someone house, like a buddy, and I'm keeping it simple, I use a Vatra DDK, the larger of the two size options it offers. It's about 35 to 40$. Excellent protection and after making one modification to it, ( I cut out one divider. ) it works excellent for holding my Crafty, extra charger. Cord and usb plug, brush, filling tool, eye drops, and a small amount of room for something else. It's a tad bulky, but I can zip it up and stuff it in my coat pocket.

The last thing I use is just a lowpro over the shoulder camera case. Padded, so it reduces the shock to the electronic things. I use a smaller sized one. About the size of a small toaster. I use this is I'm going to be out and about publicly all day. Like 4th of July kind of stuff. This allows me to carry my vape needs on the go, but still gives me the room to carry your wallet, car keys, other meds, whatever it is you'll need. Things for the kids, crap your holding for the wife. Whatever. It does it comfortably with the shoulder strap, doesn't look like a purse. lmao, and has plenty of dividers and pockets to keep things organized and protected.

I know this was long, but it's a bit of a vape fetish of mine. Maybe it will give some others, ideas.

The opening description on Vapefiends page for the crafty now states:

"The Crafty units we stock are the new 2015 release, with improved firmware and moulding"

http://www.vapefiend.co.uk/crafty-portable-vaporizer.html

So does Vapefiend know anything we don't?
Got my Crafty from Vapefiend at the begging of January. Got 46 hours on it soo far and it's going strong, Serial Number : CY0061XX. Don't know if it is part of this new improved batch. I use mine everyday, try to leave some time between sessions and never use it when it's charging. I hope it never dies on me as it is the only method of medicating myself to sleep which is very hard for me to do usually. Thinking of getting a Mighty for home use, there seems to be some faulty units out there at the moment so the crafty will do for now.

It seems expected that S&B will incrementally improve things over time and Vapefiend is just making note that they have the most current version. Most of the previous versions seem to be functioning quite well and vapefiend is ensuring potential purchasers know they have an advantage in that regard. I don't see this is any sort of sign that there are major issues.

On a different Crafty-related topic . . . . if it hasn't already been noted, craftyvaporizer.com says battery replacements will be $50. The site appears to be S&B legit so that gives us an idea of what to expect when the inevitable needs to be done. If I continue to get the same great quality vapor, I'll be happy to pay it.
