Peltier device question

I have a fan which sits on my fireplace insert and turns without batteries when the fire is on.

Quickly explained: It uses a 'Peltier device' that exploits the difference in heat between the hot stove and the cooler air flowing thru its heat sink. I am intrigued about this Peltier device.

Would any gifted tinkerers with Peltier knowledge be able to tell me if the 'bowl temp vs surroundings' could be exploited by a peltier device to add current to the heater and prolong battery life in a battery powered unit?

Or is this application too small a dimension to provide anything relevent?

Is this the grasshopper's secret?
