Could you please define this? As in, what specifically do you think is going on here? Adrenaline? Dopamine? Or a harder to define psychological rush which may account for the possible placebo effect I mentioned?

I'd say it's some combination of adrenaline and dopamine. The "rush" is only significant when I take a dab that is quite a bit larger than what I'm accustomed to. Or when I'm busy during the day and can't vape/dab or until 9pm+ and have had a 12 hr tolerance break. So I think the rush is basically a dopamine spike, maybe with some adrenaline in there too, caused by a sudden increase to much-higher-than-normal THC levels.

Probably is related to a lack of oxygen. Usually I get the hiccups if the dab isn't quite big enough to give me a ringer (rush). Hiccups are caused by lack of oxygen among other things.

For me, I get what amounts to a mini asthma attack.. can't breathe, lungs go tight, my face turns red, then white, then I finally get the iron band around my chest to relax....

Vapor dabbing can get me to the same, OR HIGHER place, without that ... it just takes a few minutes, instead of one huge vapor cloud (and the wasted terpenes, the splatter of reclaim, and the possibility of burnt oil "plastic" taste), I have several large vapor clouds, all with great flavor, and it is sneaky fun how it finally whallops you! :)

Here's that video I mentioned that I was going to do... took most of the evening, then I had to do the editing stuff, so it's been a day, but we got it! Warning: it's a long one. I went the whole session, and edited out the random blabbing that I was carrying on with.

it seems like it's more than just oxygen deprivation. if you hold your breath for 30 sec - 1 min, you'll probably start getting light headed, but I've never experienced a dab-like rush just from that.

I agree, it is probably a combination of both. I used to smoke a "slider", or "paperless joint" and I could get some real ringers off of that thing, but never off of a regular joint.
